The Fiefdom of S-A-S is a titanic, orderly nation, notable for its burgeoning badger population. The hard-nosed, cynical population of 24.456 billion S-A-Sians are ruled without fear or favor by a psychotic dictator, who outlaws just about everything and refers to the populace as "my little playthings."

The medium-sized, moralistic, socially-minded, well-organized government juggles the competing demands of Defense, Welfare, and Healthcare. The average income tax rate is 28.7%, but much higher for the wealthy.

The large but underdeveloped S-A-Sian economy, worth 586 trillion Euros a year, is broadly diversified and led by the Book Publishing industry, with major contributions from Door-to-door Insurance Sales, Arms Manufacturing, and Woodchip Exports. Black market activity is notable. State-owned companies are common. Average income is 23,978 Euros, and distributed extremely evenly, with little difference between the richest and poorest citizens.

Crime is well under control, thanks to a capable police force and progressive social policies in education and welfare. S-A-S's national animal is the badger, which frolics freely in the nation's many lush forests.

S-A-S is ranked 101,898^th in the world and 1^st in Olgea for Highest Unexpected Death Rate, scoring 33.78 on the Bus Surprisal Index.
