The State of Riann is a gargantuan, environmentally stunning nation, notable for its burgeoning deer population. The hard-nosed population of 41.637 billion Riannians are fiercely patriotic and enjoy great social equality; they tend to view other, more capitalist countries as somewhat immoral and corrupt.

The medium-sized government juggles the competing demands of Law & Order, Environment, and Industry. The average income tax rate is 21.3%, but much higher for the wealthy.

The Riannian economy, worth 982 trillion betales a year, is quite specialized and led by the Book Publishing industry, with major contributions from Cheese Exports, Door-to-door Insurance Sales, and Furniture Restoration. Black market activity is notable. State-owned companies are common. Average income is 23,589 betales, and evenly distributed, with the richest citizens earning only 2.0 times as much as the poorest.

The government is avowedly atheist, all tariffs have been abolished, the latest Harry Potter book is a bestseller, and citizens are regularly found digging for treasure in their gardens. Crime is relatively low, thanks to the all-pervasive police force. Riann's national animal is the deer, which frolics freely in the nation's many lush forests.

Riann is ranked 212,619^th in the world and 1^st in Norge for Lowest Crime Rates, with 56.78 law-abiding acts per hour.
