The Republic of Pauthara is a mammoth, genial nation, remarkable for its compulsory military service. The hard-working, devout population of 8.97 billion Pautharans have some civil rights, but not too many, enjoy the freedom to spend their money however they like, to a point, and take part in free and open elections, although not too often.

The medium-sized government juggles the competing demands of Spirituality, Welfare, and Law & Order. The average income tax rate is 21.5%.

The Pautharan economy, worth 450 trillion scudoes a year, is quite specialized and led by the Basket Weaving industry, with major contributions from Retail, Trout Farming, and Woodchip Exports. Average income is 50,155 scudoes, and evenly distributed, with the richest citizens earning only 4.2 times as much as the poorest.

Crime, especially youth-related, is totally unknown, thanks to a capable police force and progressive social policies in education and welfare. Pauthara's national animal is the skate, which can occasionally be seen avoiding garbage in the nation's murky oceans.

Pauthara is ranked 94,845^th in the world and 13^th in Dispatchia for Least Corrupt Governments, with 93.52 percentage of bribes refused.
