The SAR of Macao is a mammoth, socially progressive nation, remarkable for its burgeoning dragon population. The hard-nosed, hard-working, democratic population of 9.088 billion Macanese are either ruled by a sleek, efficient government or a conglomerate of multinational corporations; it's difficult to tell which.

The tiny, pro-business government juggles the competing demands of Defense, Law & Order, and Welfare. Citizens pay a flat income tax of 7.6%.

The thriving Macanese economy, worth 530 trillion patacas a year, is fairly diversified and led by the Gambling industry, with major contributions from Tourism, Woodchip Exports, and Beef-Based Agriculture. Average income is 58,316 patacas, but there is a significant disparity between incomes, with the richest 10% of citizens earning 206,421 per year while the poor average 11,895, a ratio of 17.4 to 1.

Crime is a problem, with the police force struggling against a lack of funding and a high mortality rate. Macao's national animal is the dragon, which soars majestically through the nation's famously clear skies.

Macao is ranked 232,964^th in the world and 1^st in Macau for Longest Average Lifespans, with 66.63 years.
