The Federal Republic of Lotanio is a massive, environmentally stunning nation, ruled by President Adolf Egos-Keturm with an iron fist, and remarkable for its infamous sell-swords, avowedly heterosexual populace, and stringent health and safety legislation. The hard-nosed, cynical, devout population of 2.427 billion Lotenches are kept under strict control by the oppressive government, which measures its success by the nation's GDP and refers to individual citizens as "human resources."

The enormous, corrupt, moralistic government juggles the competing demands of Law & Order, Administration, and Industry. It meets to discuss matters of state in the capital city of Orange. The average income tax rate is 77.7%.

The frighteningly efficient Lotani economy, worth 233 trillion Mitars a year, is quite specialized and led by the Book Publishing industry, with significant contributions from Tourism, Basket Weaving, and Uranium Mining. State-owned companies are common. Average income is 96,092 Mitars, and evenly distributed, with the richest citizens earning only 3.2 times as much as the poorest.

Pregnancy tests are under fire from the government for being marketed only to women, breast milk lattes are the newest fad among hip urbanites, crossword puzzles have been co-opted as a symbol of racial discrimination, and citizens are bankrupted by injuries to cousins they've never met. Crime, especially youth-related, is totally unknown, thanks to the all-pervasive police force and progressive social policies in education and welfare. Lotanio's national animal is the Borneo Orangutan, which frolics freely in the nation's many lush forests, and its national religion is Orangutanism.

Lotanio is ranked 235,254th in the world and 48th in One big Island for Highest Disposable Incomes, with 21,428.55 Standard Monetary Units.
