The Federal Republic of Galatae is a titanic, orderly nation, renowned for its complete lack of prisons, irreverence towards religion, and stringent health and safety legislation. The cynical population of 23.762 billion Galataeans are ruled with an iron fist by the dictatorship government, which ensures that no-one outside the party gets too rich. In their personal lives, however, citizens are relatively unoppressed; it remains to be seen whether this is because the government genuinely cares about its people, or if it hasn't gotten around to stamping out civil rights yet.

The medium-sized, socially-minded government juggles the competing demands of Education, Defense, and Welfare. The average income tax rate is 26.1%, but much higher for the wealthy.

The large but sluggish Galataean economy, worth 701 trillion laxxas a year, is broadly diversified and led by the Tourism industry, with significant contributions from Door-to-door Insurance Sales, Automobile Manufacturing, and Soda Sales. Black market activity is notable. State-owned companies are common. Average income is 29,502 laxxas, and distributed extremely evenly, with little difference between the richest and poorest citizens.

It is illegal to make racist remarks in public, the latest Harry Potter book is a bestseller, organ donation rates have hit a new low, and political parties are banned from advertising and receiving private donations. Crime is totally unknown. Galatae's national animal is the Black Bear.

Galatae is ranked 158,892^nd in the world and 5^th in Asela for Largest Cheese Export Sector, scoring 1,844.95 on the Mozzarella Productivity Index.
