The State of Forrest is a mammoth, socially progressive nation, ruled by Governor Nathan Beck with a fair hand, and remarkable for its compulsory military service. The hard-working, democratic, devout population of 5.249 billion Forresters hold their civil and political rights very dear, although the wealthy and those in business tend to be viewed with suspicion.

The tiny, liberal government prioritizes Welfare, with Education, Defense, and Healthcare also on the agenda, while Industry and Environment are ignored. It meets to discuss matters of state in the capital city of Bedford. The average income tax rate is 7.6%.

The Forrester economy, worth 297 trillion dollars a year, is driven almost entirely by the private sector, which is broadly diversified and led by the Pizza Delivery industry, with major contributions from Uranium Mining, Furniture Restoration, and Book Publishing. Average income is 56,690 dollars, and evenly distributed, with the richest citizens earning only 3.8 times as much as the poorest.

Governor Nathan Beck has just been declared ruler of Forrest in an international press conference, the nation threatens sanctions on islands only visible at low tide, children must be board certified to append "Jr" to their name, and bread-gangs raid restaurant waste bins to stockpile uneaten rolls. Crime, especially youth-related, is relatively low. Forrest's national animal is the horse and its national religion is Christianity.

Forrest is ranked 102,859^th in the world and 8^th in The Forest for Largest Welfare Programs, scoring 1,372.77 on the Safety Net Mesh Density Rating.
