The Community of Epoch Angel is a colossal, safe nation, notable for its compulsory military service, state-planned economy, and devotion to social welfare. The democratic, devout population of 3.227 billion Epoch Angelians are prohibited from doing almost everything except voting, which they do timidly and conservatively.

The enormous, socially-minded government juggles the competing demands of Welfare, Spirituality, and Education. The average income tax rate is 70.3%, and even higher for the wealthy.

The sizeable but sluggish Epoch Angelian economy, worth 79.0 trillion Scripts a year, is driven entirely by a combination of government and state-owned industry, with private enterprise illegal. The industrial sector is led by the Book Publishing industry, with major contributions from Pizza Delivery, Trout Farming, and Woodchip Exports. Average income is 24,486 Scripts, and distributed extremely evenly, with practically no difference between the richest and poorest citizens.

The government awards prizes to television shows featuring stereotype-breaking minority roles, scientists regularly clone human beings for research purposes, intellectual snobbery has the cognoscenti sneering at anyone who doesn't have an opinion on the semiological drift of Umberto Eco's works, and the tenet of free speech is held dear. Crime, especially youth-related, is totally unknown, thanks to a well-funded police force and progressive social policies in education and welfare. Epoch Angel's national animal is the Desert Vagabond.

Epoch Angel is ranked 118,796^th in the world and 4^th in Exodus for Most Eco-Friendly Governments, scoring 692.11 on the Dolphin Recycling Awareness Index.
