The Hierarch of Asy is a titanic, socially progressive nation, ruled by King Nick Jensen with an even hand, and remarkable for its anti-smoking policies, pith helmet sales, and punitive income tax rates. The compassionate population of 24.395 billion Lums have some civil rights, but not too many, enjoy the freedom to spend their money however they like, to a point, and look forward to their next free and open election, to be held on an as-yet unannounced date.

The government — a sprawling, bureaucracy-choked morass — juggles the competing demands of Education, Defense, and Healthcare. It meets to discuss matters of state in the capital city of Equinox. The average income tax rate is 75.0%, and even higher for the wealthy.

The large but inefficient Lums economy, worth 810 trillion Lums a year, is highly specialized and led by the Pizza Delivery industry, with major contributions from Information Technology, Basket Weaving, and Arms Manufacturing. State-owned companies are reasonably common. Average income is 33,205 Lums, and distributed extremely evenly, with little difference between the richest and poorest citizens.

The nation has gained millions of new citizens overnight, school uniforms are compulsory, King Nick Jensen has been declared supreme ruler for all eternity, and students abandon classrooms for online education. Crime, especially youth-related, is totally unknown, thanks to the all-pervasive police force and progressive social policies in education and welfare. Asy's national animal is the Tigerrrr, which frolics freely in the nation's many lush forests.

Asy is ranked 134,716^th in the world and 3^rd in Equinox for Largest Pizza Delivery Sector, scoring 1,163.27 on the Pepperoni Propulsion Productivity Index.
