The Republic of Assens is a huge, pleasant nation, notable for its barren, inhospitable landscape. The hard-working population of 867 million Assensians have some civil rights, but not too many, enjoy the freedom to spend their money however they like, to a point, and take part in free and open elections, although not too often.

The relatively small government juggles the competing demands of Defense, Law & Order, and Public Transport. The average income tax rate is 14.0%.

The Assensian economy, worth 40.9 trillion kroner a year, is fairly diversified and led by the Retail industry, with major contributions from Door-to-door Insurance Sales, Automobile Manufacturing, and Arms Manufacturing. Average income is 47,142 kroner, and evenly distributed, with the richest citizens earning only 4.3 times as much as the poorest.

Crime is moderate. Assens's national animal is the lion, which teeters on the brink of extinction due to widespread deforestation.

Assens is ranked 258,161^st in the world and 6^th in Faroe for Highest Average Tax Rates, with 14 Effective Tax Rate.
