If you could alter history without any repercussions, what would you change?

I have a lot of things that I would change, but the one that comes to mind first is making the Library of Alexandria not burn down. Imagine how much it would benefit our society today if it was still here, maybe we would actually have flying cars ;).

Make sure nobody ever discovers gunpowder.

I want to see how armies evolve without weapons that rely on gunpowder.

Also I’m now in the discord.

I’m Eren Yeager.

If you receive a telegram from the nation "New Bradfordsburg", please immediately delete it. It is a poaching telegram that is a) not very subtle, b) not very creative, and c) is structured to try and trick you into clicking the "Move" button. Like I said, please immediately delete this telegram and do not respond. Thanks and stay safe out there!

So, what's it like in the region that New Bradfordsburg is trying to make you move to? (I don't know what it's called.)

I would make Napoleon not as power-hungry, imagine all the wars the wouldn't have happened if not for Napoleon.

Good timezone, Citizens! Our longtime pollster, Axolotl Land, has decided that he will be retiring from his position. This means that the office of the Royal Surveyor is open to applicants! Here are a few details:

Duties
- Create interesting and engaging polls that provoke community engagement and activity
- Coordinate with the Deputy of the Steward
- Create polls on a semi-regular basis

As you can see, it's a pretty simple job that anyone can complete with a few minutes of their free time! If you are interested in this position, notify me or Zuzek (who is away, so probably just notify me). This application will be open until July 31 or until an applicant is found.

Eldiastan

and also maybe give Franz Ferdinand's driver the correct direction to wherever they were going, it would be interesting to see how the austro-hungarian empire, germans or just the central powers survive. Would the tsar even be overthrown?

Question of the day:

Which modern day country (or countries) do people consider to be the successor to the HRE , and the Roman Empire?

Thrembar wrote:Question of the day:

In my opinion, I believe the last successor of the Roman Empire is the Byzantine Empire, and the successor to the HRE is Germany. However, I know other people see it differently.

I don't know to be honest, maybe stop the extreme right hand from existing? Maybe authoritarianism and fascism might not have existed.

None. The Roman Empire is long, long dead.
Now, if we wanna talk about successors, let's talk about historical ones.
The Eastern Roman Empire is often a confusing thing because it was the Roman Empire, but in reality, it was quickly becoming a unique identity. I think it still counts as the Roman Empire, but in the same way that Germany is technically a product of the HRE. Which brings us to the (not)Holy (not)Roman (barely)Empire. I consider it a successor to the Western Roman Empire, but only in spirit. It sorta controlled what the WRE had for a while, except for the fact that most of its German lands were well outside the Roman Empire's greatest extent. However, the HRE was the legitimate continuation of the Roman Empire because... they said so. There's nothing really stopping them from claiming that title when they own the land and do the Roman Empire stuff.

As for any modern day nation, the HRE was dissolved by Napoleon, the Byzantines were conquered by the Ottomans, and there's been no other state to have a legitimate claim to the title since. (Also, not gonna count Bulgaria or Russia's various claims to Roman Empireship because those are laughable.)

None.

Question of the Day: What experience have you enjoyed most this summer?

It's been a rather different summer for me. I got a job, moved into a new apartment, and had a lot of new financial responsibilities. I've really enjoyed the feeling of being a real adult and feeling very accomplished. That might not seem super important to a lot of you, but you'll get there someday.

I like Tajikistan the most out of the stans because I really like how it looks (At least on google maps). As well as this Dushanbe is a cool name for a city in my opinion and it just seems more interesting to me than the others as its a Persian state separated from Iran. It also probably has my favourite borders of the stan nations although that's not saying all that much.
