Magical shenanigans has dramatically altered Easunian history. Conservatives never subverted the left elements during the Junta Period. So, it ended after ten years instead of carrying on into the 90s (leading to the Second Easunian Revolution and the Divine Republic).
General Reza Zangane cemented power around himself. He was influenced by Zakaria Nassirian's market socialist writings, specieism in Easunian culture, and his own personal values/ideas. From there came the ideology Humanism and the Humanist Party. This new era is often referred to as the "Humanist State."
Easunia's just reached fifty years under Humanism, the Alcatus genocide has been completed, and collaborators are set to be absorbed.

4. Some jackass by the name of Phoebe Clayborn is like "oh, we're doing something violently, huh? I've been screaming about how dangerous River Serpents are for ages, and this looks like a great opportunity to be dangerous right back;" accidentally starts summoning a big scary demon
5. Snow hatches; Mother Charity teaches her about the world

Most of my lore was . . . wobbly at that point (I was quite new to the scene) and it's definitely not a storyline that would make sense today. Still, it happended.
