Restoration of Eastern Kaiserreich wrote:Background info since it's been a while: Easunistan is finally assimilating some lands. Problem is that there are alcatus in them and they have to go. The President has invited them to meet him to discuss the process and make sure it goes peacefully, but not everybody is happy with nonites being invited to the Household of the Republic.

President Hollen's decision to invite the alcatus leaders to the Household of the Republic has recieved a flurry of responses from all sides of the debate. With the visit slated take place a week from now, tension has risen both within and outside the Federal government over this topic.

On one hand, Hollen's own party is passively supporting the meeting. Few leaders have spoken of it beyond the chambers of Congress. As far as the Commonwealth Party is concerned, the quicker the alcatus are out of Easunistan's new lands, the better. It is up to Hollen to ensure the process is peaceful.

However, the Humanitarian Party is experiencing ripples in its unity in response. A clear line has been drawn between those who've (begrudingly) accepted the diplomatic visit and those who've condemned it. A fact which has been shown by the latter's rise in fervor to sue Hollen's administration.

In the case of Walczyk v. Easunistan, the Supreme Court ruled that Amendment Fifteen -- which prohibits Nonites from becoming Easunian citizens and taking residece in the country-- does not restrict Nonites from touring the country, so long as they return home after an ample amount of time.

A controversial case, the most recent example of its relevancy was after the outbreak of war in Mustva, when tourists from the country became stranded in Easunistan and were subsequently interned.

Then, the Hollen administration and Commonwealth Party argued that the action was constitutional under Walczyk v. Easunistan. That the ruling granted them time to find another nation to take in the refugees while they stayed interned.

However, the Humanitarian Party's stance was that the nature of the case and the Supreme Court's language in the ruling meant it only granted tourism privileges to Nonites. That no power was granted to the Federal government to keep them in the country as refugees, and they needed to be removed immediately once their time expired.

Despite the tension in Congress at the time, ultimately it led nowhere and the refugees left without issue. Yet, the strong emotions it stirred are finally coming full circle as both sides repeat the same talking points over the current matter at hand.

Outside of the Federal government, the divide has reached citizens too. While southerners are mostly disinterested so long as the new lands are assimilated without bloodshed, a notable number of northerners are up in arms as it will be their states the alcatus will have to cross through. Consequently, protests have swept up the region which grows more agitated with each of the President's actions.

Listening to the pleas of their people, all four northern governors have expressed staunch opposition to the constitutional legitimacy of the President's actions. They've even gone as far as having organized an event where they publically demanded the President's removal from office in front of a crowd of thousands.

Troublingly, when the Attorney General contacted them afterwards to speak to them, they gave only vague answers as to whether or not they would comply with the President. Similarly, law enforcement agencies in the north has failed to give a direct answer in regards to whether or not it'll enforce any order against the governors.

Quietly, a call has sounded for Hollen to prepare the Army National Guard for the upcoming day.

Terrabis-Seran wrote:

With the Seat count increased to pre collapse levels of 700, the various new political blocs begin to go on the trail to gain as many voters as possible, for the fate of how democracy is run in Terrabis-Seran hangs in the balance. Blocs are already calling for Endorsements to support their campaigns.

The first Bloc, calling themselves the Democratic Bloc, primarily campaigns in the northern cities and working class valleys, in order to secure a stronghold near their endorser, the Courts of the Bound Hearts, planning to branch southward. Their leader Rias Creed, a “Liberal”, uses the radio to make his speeches, rather then physically visiting his supporters. One address on repeat goes as followed:

“Citizens! Your Democracy is in danger! For too long, regulation and monarchy has stifled the Senate from its work for the people! The economy does not need all this red tap, nor the red velvet of the monarchy. Let us, together with the Democracy Bloc, reduce the Empress to a figure head, and get rid of all these socialist ideals that are keeping our economy from truly booming! The Senate has no need of a judiciary, when we the representatives, can make all the decisions with your support! Let us walk into a new age together!”

The second Bloc, known as the Congressional Bloc, focuses mainly on the central part of the country, moving to keep all their ground covered while staying near their endorser, the Courts of the SouthernWood. Their head, Luna Sinclair, while new to campaigning, handles the task like running a department, uniting the Socialists and Social Liberals, setting up objectives and squads to handle each objective. Propaganda posters would read “Keep to the Quo!” and “Justice for the Judiciary!” While she herself would make a speech in the plant covered city of New Cortheas:

”Greetings those of the North and South! I may be new to the Senate, but I believe we need some fresh blood to keep democracy going. I believe, as well as my friends in the Bloc, believe that the government is fine the way it is, but it should go further. The original Homethrone Government must be replicated in all instances, so in order to balance our government, we must have an impartial judiciary, just as my opponents in the Regional Bloc believe. Our national government however, must be a balance between Democracy and Monarchy, to stand on its own to feet. Our industry must remain regulated as it is to keep our economy as what it is: Ours! Let us stand United in our commitment for balance and harmony!”

The third and last Bloc, called the Regional Bloc, would mainly focus on the South, with the new center of the nation’s power, their endorse, the Courts of the Old Country, and the numerous new settlements there. Hermosa Calig had managed to rally the Regionists and Social Democrats to her cause, establishing a monarchist bloc against what she perceived as a corrupt Senate. She and her Bloc would go settlement by settlement, making speeches personally in bars and town squares advocating their campaign.
”Citizens! Friends! Those who are willing to listen! The Senate has failed the you! It has, for far too long since the collapse, been out of touch with the people. Where has the promised industrial revitalization gone? Nowhere! When Lahnhof was in chaos, what did the Senate do? Nothing, the Regent sent peacekeepers while the Senate twiddled their thumbs! Did the Senate help create a settlement between us and the people of Kronzland to reclaim our lost territory? No, it was all the work of the Diplomatic Core and the Regency! My point being, that the Senate does not have the speed, the understanding, nor the closeness to the people, that the monarchy and the local legislatures have demonstrated. Therefore, we propose, for the betterment of the state, that the Senate be disbanded, that the local legislatures be given more power to handle their own areas, with the national government being a balance of power between the Monarchy and an impartial Judicary. When the people need government, they can do it themselves. When the state needs a strong leader the Treants will be there. And when the law needs to be handed down, it will not be a group of out of touch senators that handles it, but a true, impartial justice system. Join us, to show that the motto of our nation means something, that the people come first!”

With fierce campaigning across the nation, and leaders giving their two credits, it could be anyone’s chance to change the government of Terrabis-Seran forever.

Endorsements are now open and are recommended.

I endorse whichever one will blend babies.

I will cast down heavenly light to burn the sin clean of your rotten skin, I will empty all your blood from you so only Holy water runs through your body. To top it of I will nail you to the Highest cross so the kingdom of heaven it self can cast it's divine verdict on you...only then shall I burn it all down so your ash shall fall into the deepest pits of hell.
