We last visited this region on March 26th, 2019. What have y'all been up to these past 3 years?
(The Nox woman rubs her fingers down a tree trunk and gathers some sap; she licks her fingers, then offers some to the VW.)
Whoa a rare founderless region
I didn't know about this one, odd considering how many years I've been playing
Greetings. I come with Geese and The Flock.
Ah, that Stargate. I thought you meant some galactic-level political scandal. The -gate suffix, you know.
I am Groot?
**Shudders, shakes head** I am Groot.
Oh wow, I didn't even notice! Digging into the history, it doesn't go back far enough to show how old this region is, but it's at least 12.5 years old. I bet this region has a lot of stories!
Actually, the region is about 20 years old. West Siders might have some stories about the early days, including why the region chose to be founderless (it was created before "Founder" became a thing.)
EDIT: Okay, so the region isn't older than the game. It's about 19 years old. Not old enough to drink in the US yet. :-)
West Siders is one old nation; we don't see too many with a greater population than we have. Maybe I should do some issues and grow my population faster!
My nation is likely older, it's one of the "antiquity" nations dating back to the beginning. I worked in the SF publishing industry at the time and found out about Max Barry and NS through a friend of a friend of a friend, but I didn't stay long, went inactive and CTE'd. I rediscovered the site some ten years later when it made some "best of the web"-type list. Took me another few months to find out I could restore my original nation. If I hadn't taken such a long break, my population would be about double.
Speaking of which, answering issues doesn't increase your population. Nothing you do can increase (or decrease) your population other than merely continuing to sign in and keeping it active. Your population stops growing while you are CTE'd.
I joined this site a month or two after it went live, but didn't join Stargate for another couple of months after that, and it was already full of people at that point, so the region's about as old as NationStates itself.
