Ivan descends into Sokolov's lab. The hallway echoes with his footsteps. Large tubes containing bodies hang from the ceiling, and still others sit behind transparent walls, their cells a display for any passerby. Ivan stops to look into one. A child with unruly red hair sits, his back towards the display. stuck in a straight jacket, with some sort of mask on. Ivan puts his hand to the display and is about to knock on it when he's interrupted.
"Please do not knock on the glass, it disturbs the subject."
Ivan turns to face the voice, it belongs to what would be a normal human, minus the very robotic left arm. He can see the joints exposed clearly, with his jacket sleeve ending above the elbow, putting it on display.
"You are here to see my master, correct?"
Ivan nods "Yeah, I have a request for him."
"This way please."
The servant motions for Ivan to follow as he leads him further in, eventually ending at a door.
"This is the Doctor's office, please wait."
The Servant enters the room and closes the door behind him. Ivan sighs, he knows he needs this, but what if Sokolov denies his request, could he reasonably do it himself? Could he-
The door opens again and the servant beckons him in. Sokolov sits behind his desk, standing up as Ivan walks in.
"Major Petrenko, it's always a pleasure when someone as esteemed as you comes to visit. I hope Azazel has shown enough hospitality?" he says, motioning to his servant.
Azazel sits in the corner, nonreactive to the sound of his own name.
"Yes, your servant was quite hospitable" Ivan says sarcastically.
"I know Azazel can be blunt and to the point, but you must forgive him, he's not exactly the thinking type." Sokolov chuckles "Azazel, fetch out guest some tea."
Azazel bows and leaves.
"So what brings you to see me?"
"I want a favor."
"Favors are expensive you know, not everyone can afford one."
"You already owe my uncle several"
Sokolov chuckles "Go on"
"I want you to make a child."
"A child? What would possess you to ask me for one?"
Before Ivan can answer Azazel enters the room and pours tea for the two. Sokolov waves him away afterwards.
"Yuri was killed by Makastans, you know that."
"So you wish me to aid in helping you unnatural lust? There's a reason f@ggots do not give birth you know."
"Yeah, biology prevents it."
"No, nature prevents it. Nature decrees it. The weak inferior ones die, the strong reproduce and live."
"Are you saying Yuri was-"
"Of course not, I would never insult the dead." Sokolov takes a sip of his tea
"So then have some compassion Sokolov."
"Compassion is such a feeble concept. My research serves a greater purpose, not to cater to the sentimental desires of individuals like you. Nature dictates survival, and you must learn to accept its unyielding principles."
"So you won't help me."
"Not happily, but I will do it as a favor for your uncle, to keep you happy and producing results your expected to."
"Thank you."
"I already have DNA samples of Yuri, I'll tell you when I'm finished."

DeltaSource wrote:"9 years ago Sebastian Marvelo took his own life, cementing his name in the eyes of the public as the one responsible for the disappearance of 19 children and 5 of his own employees, but was he really that monster? His lawyer released the transcript of their last phone call, as well as the recording. I'll leave a link to it on the main page so you can listen to it in its entirety, but I wanna draw attention to these lines.
'...except I wasn't indirectly responsible for the kidnapping, and possible deaths of 15 children.'
'17, but hey, it's not your fault some sickos are using your parks and characters for it.'
Marvelo himself lost count, and his lawyer definitively gives 17 as the final number. Children 18 and 19 went missing about an hour after that phone call, however Mr. Marvelo had already committed suicide about 15 minutes prior to their kidnapping. The math doesn't add up, if he really was responsible, wouldn't the kidnappings end at his death? His wife's death pushed him over the edge he was standing on, not guilt, or he could have cancelled whatever order there was to stop children 18 and 19 from being captured. Now, that's not a problem if, say, the [Insert Powerian CIA equivlent] needed bodies for an experiment. We already know that 30 years prior several agents were in some deep sh!t for human experimentation, and the methods they used then line up with the way the children seemingly vanished 9 years ago, albeit slightly more sophisticated. No trace, and no federal investigation could uncover them, hell, the names for some of them were never publicly revealed! If they have nothing to do with it, why hide the names? Why keep the documents classified? We have nothing beyond what Marvelo Studios released before they were torn apart and sold to various competitors."
Cody paused the podcast and looked at the headline
"Popular Conspiracy Theorist Zane Greenman missing"
He'd vanished shortly after he made the podcast episode of the Marvelo Missing Children, right after he promised to investigate. Was it true the [Insert Powerian CIA Equivalent] had something to hide? He allegedly went to the ruins of the park but never came back. It was only about an hour away from Cody's house, and his parents had left on a cruise while he chose to stay behind. His sister was out with her boyfriend, so he was all alone for the day.
"F*ck it" he grabbed the car keys and made his way outside, he was going to check it out for himself, even if it meant only driving by it.

As Cody approached the abandoned park, the sun cast a mournful yellow glow over the desolate landscape. The trees seemed to whisper secrets as they swayed in the gentle breeze, while the grass, once green and vibrant, now lay dormant and brown. The park's dilapidated structures bore the scars of time and wear, remnants of a once joyous place now overshadowed by tragedy and mystery.

Pulling into the parking lot, Cody's eyes scanned the eerily quiet scene. The only thing that stirred was the occasional rustle of leaves or the distant chirp of a bird. He could see Zane Greenman's car, still parked where he'd left it. Cody felt a shiver of unease as he imagined the reporter having left his vehicle there, only to disappear without a trace. Exploring the grounds, he found nothing. No power, the rides either dismantled and recycled for parts or rusting away. Used needles scattered about and remnants of makeshift shelters that the homeless used. Nothing Cody had seen had ever quite been as surreal.

As he was about to leave, Cody noticed something, he wouldn't have noticed it if he hadn't been paying attention. A building that had a little too much extra space. The inside of the resturant wasn't as big as it should have been. Cody entered to investigate.

Everything seemed normal. The dining room coated in a thick layer of dust, the menu unchanged for 9 years. A smiley face was drawn in the dust on one of the tables. 'Odd' Cody thought to himself. As he entered the kitchen, he saw a camera lying on the floor. It was broken and smeared with blood and dust. As he bent down to pick it up, he noticed a slight gap between one of the ovens and the wall. Approaching it, he felt a cool breeze. There was air flow from the other side.

A miltary parade held in Deeka celerbrating a recent "victory" in Mohola in the ongoing civil war. Tanks role by with inexperinced crews at the helm. a unit of Makastan Legionaires walk by, acompneied by General Verilis Rhimeheart. Corwds of people cheer on happliy whilel soilders stand next to them. Then the speech by the general begins

"Beloved citzens of New Makasta Welcome to this parade. Wonderful is it not? Knowing that our ENEMIES HAVE LOST YET AGAIN! And, for everyone I have a special treat. as some of you may know the nation known as the pluerben nations, bluh, has entered the war aginst us and your great leader! Truly shameful I know! However Don't dispair as I bring you two prizes from our vctory the first, here"

She signals one of the legionaires who brings out Princess Victoria in chains Her left arm still missing leaveing a stub just below the elbow

"As you all can see the happlis "commenwelth" has lost ther heir to us! THE GREATIST NANTION EVER TO EXIST! Meanwhille we have an even bigger prize. Though I'm afriad I can't show him off as our presdent is having a family reunion. Happy Victory my citzens"

------

Lion sits alone in the palice when a servent quickly rushes in.

s: "Your highness, Your sister, Heir Victoria is alive."

L: "WHAT HOW WHERE!"

s: "held captive by New Makasta ma'am"

L: "Get me alpha squad now and the presdent of Republic on the line NOW. if she truly is alive then- I SAID GET ME THEM NOW"

The servert jumps out and and does as told

Emperor Xavi stands in front of the Imperial palace. He wears his usual black and red, the colors of the Deltan flag. His daughter behind him, as does several key members of the Deltan military and the DBIS.

"My fellow Deltans, I join your grief in this dark hour. 2 days ago the Republic of Makasta committed and atrocity unthinkable to any civilized nation, let alone a nation wanting peace and freedom. 2 days ago the Republic of Makasta shot down a passenger plane in their airspace, carrying my people, carrying your parents, your sons, your daughters, your husbands and wives. A plane carrying innocent souls whose lives were snuffed out in an instant.

In your grief, find solace in the unity of our nation. We, as one, extend our unwavering support to you. Your resilience in the face of tragedy inspires us all, and your loved ones will forever be remembered as symbols of the strength that defines us as a people.

As your emperor I do not take this atrocity lightly, no. We are Deltans, steadfast, resolute, and loyal. We honor our fallen, and strike back at those that would cause us harm. We know war, we know its consequences. We do not want war, though many of us were bred for it, nay, we wish for peace. But if DeltaSource's enemies wish her war I can promise them one thing, your sons, will be raised by stronger men, and your daughters by more caring mothers.

I have extended an olive branch to the Republic of Maksta, and I hope they accept. I ask for nothing more than what my people deserve, nothing more than justice. I ask simply for the Makastan people to pay to us, no, pay to you what is deserved, for the men responsible to be publicly executed, and those in charge to step up to the plate and actually lead the country they claim to lead. Is this too great a task Osiris, Violet? Is taking responsibility something too great to ask?

In the days ahead, as we pursue justice, let the memory of your loved ones fuel our determination. DeltaSource will prevail, and their sacrifices will not be in vain. Together, we will navigate through this darkness and emerge into the light of a just and secure future. The spirit of DeltaSource will endure, and may the memories of your loved ones be a guiding light. Long live our Empire!"

The crowd cheers as the Emperor leaves the podium. A general walks up to begin his speech.

Specter sits outside a small cafe near the border of the two makastas. Eir and Sam sit across from him.

"So your contact is showing up late, typical for them?" Sam speaks up
"Tsch, very. He's as unreliable as they come." Specter retorts.
"So why deal with him?"
"Oh, we're going to deal with him." Specter's eyes sparkle, his mask hiding his sadistic grin.

As a man wearing a large coat sits down a couple tables away, Specter gets up and moves over, Eir and Sam turn around to look, but their view is blocked by Specter.

"So Ronin, defecting?"
"Not happy about it, but I need someone to protect me. Hoszt wants my head, and for what? Some bitch who couldn't pass a middle school math test? I mean, come on, some Legionary probably scooped her up, broke her again, and is using her to make Hoszt look worse. Big deal, the guy already has a million skeletons, what's one more?"
"What is one more indeed? So what, you've braved border patrol and the cold alone to make it here, to run into DBIS arms?"
"Something like that, why?"
"Oh, just needed to know if there was anyone else I needed to take care of"
"What are yo-"
Before Ronin can finish, Specter throws the table up, knocking Ronin back several feet. As Specter sheds his coat, revealing his frostbitten appearance, Sam and Eir move forward, weapons drawn. As Ronin struggles to his feet, Eir's eyes widen. It's him, Ronin. Her mind racing she takes aim and begins to pull the trigger, but her hands begin to feel numb, her arms heavy. Looking down, her pistol and hands frozen together in a block of ice.
"We need him alive, and I'd prefer not to deliver him with several holes." Specter says, not even turning towards Eir
"YOU F*CKING B!TCH! YOU KNOW WHAT HE'S DONE!? TO ME!?" Eir begins frantically to send electricity to her hands, smashing the ice against the cafe wall, trying to break them free. "YOU SAID NO MORE PRISONERS!! YOU SAID YOU WERE OWED VICTIMS!!! HERE'S THE PERFECT F*CKING VICTIM!"
Specter doesn't seem bothered, "Sam, I suggest you gain control of your woman before I do." He approaches Ronin, as ice crawls up his legs, freezing him in place.
"S- Sokolov promised me I'd-"
"Is Sokolov here? I don't see him, could you maybe point him out? You're a rat Ronin, a coward. You jump ship when you f*ck up. The DBIS has no use for you."
Specter reaches down and pulls him to his feet, the frost around his legs holding tight to his pants.
"You're making a big mistake, Sokolo-"
Ronin is stopped by a gag of ice.
Looking at the panicked people, Specter sighs "Our criminal has been apprehended, back to your drinks."
Specter leads Ronin away towards a black SUV, tossing him in the back. Sam leads Eir, following behind.

Firebrand waits at the desinated meeting spot seemingly alone waiting for the DBIS team to arrive with the cargo. A light frost covers the gournd and maks crunches as firebrand paces back and forth. The rest of teh aceops wait in the surronding area for anything to go wrong.

A man with a sack over his head is pushed out of the shadows, followed by Specter. The air temperature around Aceops grows colder as Specter approaches.
"Sorry to keep you waiting, had to make sure I wasn't followed."
Specter reaches down, pulling the sack off Ronin's head. He's battered and bruised, a gag in his mouth, but otherwise seems fine.

Specter doesn't reply, he walks back the way he came, no longer interested in Ronin. Ronin looks at Aceops, fear in his eyes.
