America under the Articles of Confederation was...interesting, to say the least. Each state was basically its own country, Congress couldn't tax people to pay back debt from the Revolution, Americans were closed off from trade, the British wouldn't leave the Mississippi and armed Natives in the west, the Spanish armed Natives in the South, the French (America's BFF during the Revolution) demanded America to pay back debt, and pirates in the Mediterranean were kidnapping American sailors. It seemed as if America would collapse.
But America didn't collapse (God Bless America!)

And then the Constitution finally came around, and America had no problems. Not a single one! Definitely not something that would cause a divide between the north and the south that would lead to a four-year long Civil War.
