LofN Ambassador Raimondas Jasakov of Sjevre reacts:

"What we have just witnessed is not justice; it is a grotesque mockery of humanity, a spectacle of cruelty that stains the very fabric of our shared values.

Let us dissect this travesty of justice, this parade of savagery masquerading as civic duty. Three individuals, two chemists and a curator, stand accused of crimes against the state. But what is the response of the Milidae authorities? Do they seek to uphold the principles of law and order, to ensure a fair trial and just punishment? No! Instead, they offer a menu of torture and death, as if the fate of these individuals were a matter of entertainment, to be decided by the whims of a bloodthirsty mob.

First, let us address the fate of the chemists. They are condemned not to imprisonment or rehabilitation, but to death by the very substance they are accused of creating. This is not justice; it is revenge, plain and simple. To subject individuals to the same fate they are accused of perpetrating is not only morally bankrupt but also utterly devoid of any semblance of legality or fairness.

And what of the curator? For what crime is he condemned to suffer the excruciating agony of a patterned cut on his chest, leading to a fatal outcome? Is this the punishment befitting someone accused of involvement in the creation of a drug? No reasonable person could argue so. This is nothing short of sadism, a perverse desire to inflict pain and suffering for the sake of satisfying some twisted sense of retribution.

But perhaps most egregious of all is the complicity of the citizens of Milidae in this atrocity. They have not only condoned but actively participated in the selection of these monstrous punishments, turning a blind eye to the fundamental principles of justice and humanity. Their hands are stained with the blood of their fellow human beings, and they must be held accountable for their role in this travesty.

And lastly, the broadcasting of these atrocities by the Milidae authorities is a sickening display of moral bankruptcy, stripping victims of dignity and degrading us all as witnesses to their suffering. This inhumane spectacle drags us into the depths of depravity and must be condemned. Those who tune in are complicit in a crime against humanity and must be held accountable.

I rest my case."

we understand that our joyful attitude towards their death is a little wild, I agree on that.
BUT they deserve to die (well, at least we gave the citizen, whose life they put in danger, to choose their fate).

Now let's take a closer look:
The fate of the chemists is completely clear. We clearly show what will happen if you use drugs, we just speed up the process. As for the second, we will treat them quite compassionately. If you think about it, that's fair- they died from what they themselves did, they poisoned their lives, the place of life of others.

The curator created a team, bought drugs with his money and rented a room. He is the main link.
We gave other people the opportunity to decide their fate - perhaps it was not a very good decision. But if we decided for ourselves, I’m sure there would be people who said that it was all a set-up. Residents are not to blame here.

Hm. You see it all. We show what happens to those who break the law. We are not making a show out of this to have fun, we are teaching a lesson about what will happen if you break the law.And won’t millions of people watch the death of the head of the terrorist group? They will because they know his bad deeds. We were able to prevent our scoundrel's bad actions before he did them.
From the very beginning, we said that doing this was dangerous, but they didn’t listen and this is where it led them!

But for now, they are alive. and you have the right to participate in their fate. Come on, tell me, what punishment will the terrorists deserve? Let me remind you that they know the formula for their Bio-CHEMICAL WEAPONS OF MASS DEATH!!!!

Raimondas Jasakov:

"We don't blame the residents, we blame you, the government, for creating such a bloodthirsty culture. We don't blame the residents, we blame you, the government, for wielding influence over a case that should be held in a court. Don't you know the principle of tripartite?

Your government's decision to involve the citizens of Milidae in determining the fate of these individuals is deeply troubling. While public engagement in matters of justice can be valuable, it must be done within the confines of a fair and impartial legal process. Allowing the public to dictate punishment undermines the rule of law and opens the door to mob mentality and vigilantism.

Moreover, the decision to broadcast these executions as a form of "teaching a lesson" is deeply troubling and indicative of a callous disregard for human dignity. Justice should never be reduced to a spectacle for public consumption, nor should punishment be used as a means of entertainment. Such actions only serve to perpetuate a culture of violence and dehumanization, further corroding the moral integrity of your society.

Even if we were to entertain the notion that your government's actions were solely intended to "teach a lesson" to the residents of Milidae about the consequences of breaking the law, the methods employed are abhorrent and counterproductive.

Subjecting individuals to torture and death as a means of deterrence not only violates the most basic principles of human rights and dignity but also fails to achieve its purported goal. Research and historical evidence consistently show that the severity of punishment does not serve as an effective deterrent to crime. Instead, it fosters a culture of fear, mistrust, and further violence. If your government truly seeks to educate the residents of Milidae about the consequences of illegal activities, there are far more effective and humane ways to do so. Invest in education, rehabilitation programs, and community outreach initiatives aimed at addressing the root causes of crime and promoting social cohesion.

In addition, you have now set a precedent. If there is a brutal murderer walking around who wants to punish you in the same way, but a large part of the population is sympathetic to it, that makes the murderer even less of a murderer, but a free man. There are plenty of examples of murderers who are sympathetically received, for example cult leaders. Then don't complain that you can't get rid of that murderer."

The fact that you think that I'm here defending someone is completely insane and taken completely out of context. I'm not defending them, I'm attacking you, on my own terms and with my own arguments. I am not teaming up with them. I defend their right, not the person. And you calling them "monsters" does not help your case. It is considered as defamation or hate speech and, however it isn't a human rights violation, does constitute your anti-humane views.

In the ensuing 48 hours, General Diyoza swiftly and effectively secured control over the islands, establishing a comprehensive perimeter to safeguard the area. Local hospitals on both islands were swiftly repurposed as operational bases, drawing in a dedicated cadre of volunteer medical professionals and a substantial influx of military medics, all mobilized to attend to the scant survivors.

Amidst the solemn task of identifying and properly storing the victims of the mass suicides, a faint glimmer of hope emerged as a minuscule fraction were found to possess faint signs of life. Many victims who used guns to exact their fate via the head, were found to possess a pulse, but the majority of these were declared brain dead upon testing - where only one shows signs of life and brain activity. These fragile individuals were carefully transported to the medical facilities across the islands, though tragically, some succumbed during the transit. Presently, only 23 individuals remain under intensive care, their precarious condition prompting a fervent effort to revive them.

Meanwhile, Carolinian Union Militia squads have been methodically deployed across designated sectors of the islands, conducting thorough sweeps to tally the deceased and locate any potential survivors. Detailed blueprints of the islands have been meticulously analyzed, with a keen focus on identifying subterranean facilities where survivors may be sheltering. Concurrently, efforts to retrieve military documents are underway, aimed at securing the occupation and neutralizing any potential threats posed by hidden weaponry.

The remnants of the Gileadean navy have been swiftly brought under Carolinian control and escorted to a naval base in South Carolina. Similar measures are being implemented across other military installations on the islands, ensuring complete command and oversight.

President Hale has made multiple public appearances, addressing the nation with a compassionate demeanor aimed at assuaging concerns and extending support to those directly impacted by the tragedy. Special attention is given to individuals who lost loved ones to the coerced event, providing guidance on accessing support services and facilitating the dignified retrieval of their remains.

RP - The Impact of the Traditionalist Party
(Before reading this post, first read page=rmb/postid=53070224)

It has now been 4 years since the 2036 nation-wide elections, meaning it is nearing the time for the next elections. Many things have happened in the last 4 years, particularly to do with politics, that need mentioning.

First of all, Rome has by this point almost completely recovered from the Civil War and WW3, and is in the midst of a small economic boom.

In 2037, Traditionalist Party Leader Sofoteros Karamanalis signed off on a brand new Megarail line, running down Italia and connecting the major cities of Ancona, Rome, Naples and Bari. It opened a few months ago in January 2040, being named the Apennine Way and having been built in the fastest time yet. The government is now making serious plans to build a Megarail line in Hellas, with a probable underwater connection to the Apennine Way.
The Liberal Party had been criticised for putting off building a line in Italia for a while, so the Traditionalist Party has received much praise for this. The only reason why a line was built in Italia before Hellas was because of the lingering Civil War divide and the Conservative Party blocking it, wanting to spend money on other things.

The Traditionalist Party ("Traditionalism" here refers to general conservatism) is not without controversy, mostly due to its views on "wokeism", but many non-Traditionalists turn a blind eye to this due to their infrastructure and economic reforms. They have continued the policy of eksynchronismós (modernisation) and taken it to new levels. New laws have been passed to limit emissions further, and better-quality and less intruding trains and megatrains have been put in use. More land has been converted into parks, including 2 estates donated by the Imperator and his family.

Of course, I can't go on praising the Traditionalist Party forever, and must also talk about their controversies. They attempted to increase military spending in 2038, which many heavily disagreed with. Karamanalis said "No-one realises it, but the war is far from over. The United Kingdom is still hostile and looking more insane than ever. They never truly signed peace."
Unrelated to this, another (perhaps more deservingly) controversial thing Karamanalis said was "I think we can all agree that a bill proposed by an incompetent, mentally ill, woke MP is not one we can take seriously". 3 Roman provinces have outlawed abortion since the Traditionalist victories in the Empire.

Too tired to write any more, I'll continue tommorrow

LofN Secretaris Andrew Duncan react:

North Gilead is a terrorist state that must be destroyed. The Carolinian government is doing good with this peace mission, saving thousands of people. United Carolinia should be rewarded and made a permanent member of the Security Council, as they themselves have proposed. The LofN is the only organization that maintains worldwide, and urgently needs to reinvent itself. Starting by making United Carolinia a permanent member of the security council. We should vote on it soon.

Ambassador Elizabeth Durant responds:

"We welcome these words from the Secretary General, but we value decisive action. The voting for our proposal should be made a direct priority for the General Assembly to vote on with immediate effect. Other the past months we have allowed the League of Nations to become stale and an overlooked organization within the political landscape. We as Carolinians, pride ourselves as a success story of the League of Nations active role in removing the North Gilead threat and freeing millions.

It was us who warned the League of Nations that the allowances made for North Gilead to expand would come back to bite us. There were an unstable regime, with an unstable ideology that has now seen the mass suicides of thousands. It is with great pain that we shame the League of Nations and it's members who were ignorant to our concerns - but we do it with great reason."
