The planet was first discovered by Columbia, then Wooloos in 2205 in a cataloging mission that would attempt to find at least 1,000 former Andromedan stars with exoplanets. However, upon the realization from NASA that the planet could, in fact, support life, several colonial missions were sent to the planet in hopes of claiming it as another world in Columbia's rapidly growing space empire. However, the Columbians rather quickly realized after the initial colonial missions were repelled that the planet was home to a sentient race. The Noions, as they were later called, originated on the planet around 20 million years ago, making them older than even humanity's earliest ancestors. However, due to multiple asteroid impacts and bombardment events, this slowed down their development so severely that by the point the Columbians discovered them, their planet had been effectively united by a feudal kingdom led by despotic and authoritative kings, with its technology level resembling that of the early Victorian ages. Convinced that they could beat these technologically backward savages, Columbia invaded the planet. However, they were beaten back off the planet by a combination of Noion tenacity and a surprising feature of their race: magic, which had caught the Columbian forces completely off guard and is the reason to this day why Columbian soldiers are equipped with magical jamming devices. After this rather embarrassing defeat, the Columbians, as an act of spite, decided to destroy the "First Noion Empire" by orbitally bombarding its capital city, causing the empire to disintegrate almost immediately.

Little did the Columbians know, they had just set off a chain reaction that would effectively lead to the planet being sent into centuries of turmoil. There would never again be a united Noion State. After this, a warlord era would start, spurred on by a technological race caused by the seizure of Columbian technologies left behind on the planet, which saw much of Noio jump from the Victorian age to the technological level of the 21st century in just 50 years, leading to a nuclear conflict on the planet and the releasing of a mad "God" from the planet's past, an extremely powerful Noion who had been locked away behind a magical barrier. He established domain over the entire western half of the planet. The Columbians would resume colonial efforts shortly after.

This would lead to limited success and would also lead to the discovery of extremely valuable rare earth minerals that Columbia had yet to encounter anywhere in the universe. These would be Stellanium, a strange luminescent mineral that forms deep within the planet's crust, needing expensive and complicated mining operations to extract. It releases a faint bluish glow and, besides being a nice collector's item, when in contact with light, it can absorb photons by an extreme amount, allowing for it to collect and store energy extremely efficiently.

Galaxium is a light metal-like ore that can be found within the planet's mountain ranges and in its crust. It is lightweight but almost 10x less heavy than steel. It is also extremely resistant to corrosion and extreme temperatures, making it ideal for spacecraft. Aurorium, while not directly found on the planet itself but instead on its closest moon, is a crystal capable of energy generation when subjected to pressure or vibration via piezoelectricity. The planet's trees held certain properties that made their wood much stronger than other places found in the galaxy, along with flowers and other plants with strange magical healing properties. It was determined that holding a permanent base on Noio was beneficial for resource extraction and for research study. it was also discovered that these materials were abudent across the noion system. its just that the noion homeworld was the most active center for there formation.

Eventually, the Columbians and Collectorists, as the new Western empire had become known, would come to blows in the aftermath of a devastating terrorist attack organized by the Collectorists on the North American Mainland. Due to this war, which would be simply known as the Second Noion War, devastated the planet. Once again, the Columbians destroyed any semblance of organized order, suffering from a large-scale nuclear war, the destruction left behind from the war as much of the planet was now contaminated by FEV. All semblance of order besides the State of Noio, a collaborationist government created with Noion Exiles in Columbia which would eventually join the country as a Federal Union State, collapsed on the planet.
