I learned the Lava song first: https://youtu.be/uh4dTLJ9q9o

If you’re a real go getter you can just learn the easiest 4 chords, F, A, G, C and play like 8 million songs just with that.

I’m originally from California, so I grew up with “dude”, “man”, and “you guys” all as gender-neutral terms (it’s so pervasive in my everyday speech that I even say “dude” to inanimate objects). I’ve yet to have anyone tell me they’re offended by my use of these terms, but if someone was I would just make a concerted effort to not refer to them in that manner.

Oooh, I might go for lava first, I really like that short!
Though to be honest I would gladly exchange this ukulele for a uke-bass. Not just because I play bass already, but also because the strings are basically just noodles -> https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fDy20irhd6o

Unlike anarcho-primitives, I believe that no matter what we do, humans will still be sh*t. Also, ukeleles are fine for beginners, but if you want to play more advanced songs and have more range in chords, you'll wanna try switching to an acoustic Guitar. But you do you, man

I actually own an acoustic guitar, i'm just not too good at it. I wish I were though, classical guitar is beautiful and it's by far the most versatile instrument I own.
Either way, ukuleles are fun, and I'm not about to turn away a free second hand musical instrument.

The GA repeal proposal at vote has got me thinking about GAR#538, which passed not too long ago. I remember voting against it because I think it enables potential terrorists to easily communicate without government knowledge, which is a threat to national security, and governments cannot use this as an exception to providing secure communication. I don't think, however, that I could write or pass a repeal based upon that gripe with it alone. In fact, I'm almost certain I would be labelled a 'badge hunter'. GA nations of Forest, what can I do?

Many nations here, including several that have been here for a long time devote a lot of time to the model of nationstates. We have tons of issues writers and resolution passers. Its safe to say that nothing in our constitution nor in the rules that we follow have not been well thought out.

That being said, we definitely encourage people questioning rules and proceadure. Currently we are in the process of electing a new leader and you definitely will have the opportunity to express your feelings on this rule even if you can’t vote.

The simplest answer to the question your post addresses is that blanket policies are easier to understand and enforce. There are no grey areas when there can be no double posting. Some nations may believe that X is spam but Y isn’t. The alternative to this rule is giving the power to decide to our administration which encourages inconsistent policy, and possibly even corruption (although thats silly to imagine here).

And your right perhaps with your post its no harm no foul but we’ve had some very wacky RMB posters who weren’t necessarily spammers. Sapnu puas comes to mind. He is definitely welcome here still, as you are.

It's 03:18 AM, I was thinking a lot about what a solarpunk-ish city would look like if it was abandoned, since it's kinda already integrated with nature by design, and then came the idea to write something. Please be gentle with the criticisms, it's the first narrative I write in more than a year and english isn't even my native language:

Daniel and Jennifer stepped cautiously into the denser parts of the forest. Even for one who was pratically born climbing trees and freely swimning on Forestian rivers, that neck of the woods (quite literally) always stood a bit intimidating in the distance. It wasn't a difficult place to find, of course. Getting there was just a matter of following the river until the trees seemed thicker and taller, almost like individual living and breathing mountains. Daniel felt that at any moment one of those trees would turn to him and utter some welcoming words. If he didn't believe in magic back home, right there, right then, magic was real.

"You think we're getting close?" Daniel asked.
"I'm pretty sure. It's hard to miss it, you just follow the river until you know you're there". Said Jennifer.
"And do you know if we're there already?".
"I... don't, I don't know" Jennifer replied, swallowing her pride for a moment. "I don't honestly know what we're looking for".

What they were looking for found them a few minutes later. Their destination revealed itself slowly: First, several oddly shaped stumps by the riverside. Then a few half-rotten ropes hanging from the trees. Scattered traces of what used to be the home of hundreds of people. Jennifer finally stopped at a worn out wooden sign with something written on it - barely legible, covered in lichen.

"... 'Please leave meat, leather, guns and cars in bin provided'... Daniel I think this is it".

Errinundera was once a gigantic nation - the largest in Forest, in fact. Even though it had been gone for generations at this point, it's name still echoed everywhere, as if whispered by the ancient trees who belonged to that side of the forest. Errinundera was, in fact, part of the forest, just as much as the trees and the river. It was a living organism inhabiting these woods. Much like the other living beings in that forest, it gave itself back to nature in it's death, and in it's former body new life emerged. Branches grew where the houses used to be, the old sidewalks were covered in grass and mud and the provided bin mentioned by the sign - or at least what remained of it - had now become the nest of a shy, though likeable, potoroo.

"Can you see the remains of the treehouses? People lived here!" Jennifer said enthusiastically.
"I almost can't, to be honest... If I didn't know where to look, I could swear these were just part of the trees. Actually, I'm having a tough time believing this used to be a whole ass village"
"I see... I think for you those houses would look overgrown even when there were people in them"
"It was an overgrown village..."
"As it should have been".

The sunlight met the soft mist of the humid riverside forest, almost making it seem as if the air itself was shining. A subtle, earthy smell permeated the place, and the only sounds to be heard were those of birds flying joyfully amidst the eucalyptus and the flowing of the river. The animals from the forest were now the only remaining inhabitants of this once gigantic nation.

Errinundera might have fallen for the eyes of other countries, but that forest was anything but dead. In fact, every inch of it was filled with life and energy, just as much as when humans still lived there.

I might finish this later if I have the time and inclination to do so.

People are more supportive and helpful than you might think. If you post a draft on the GA forum, appreciate that the process takes a long time, and engage positively with the feedback that you get then all things are possible. If you'd like to work up the idea a little bit before taking that step then put a first draft on the Forest forum and I'm sure folk will give you some in-house help.

The most serene republicans, that's an awesome piece of creative writing. Your nation name makes me imagine Mike Pence and Mitch McConnell sitting with their eyes closed in lotus pose. Your ukulele might make you feel tropical, but I confess my first association with the instrument is George Formby. Look him up and you'll see that it doesn't get much less tropical.

Errinundera's name was a typo for a real-world national park in Australia - Errinundra. Though I'm not positive, I'm guessing that name is Aboriginal-Australian in origin, which would also likely have little recognizable connection to most other world languages.

I am Australian and many Australian place names with Aboriginal origins have sounds like those in Errinundera. I've always assumed it was inspired by the typical names of Australian places, especially towns - I didn't realise there was a real place called Errinundera, or close enough to it anyway!

I am not, I consider myself close to it, but even then, I still don't think it would be enough to just go back to the stone ages, because as time would go on, we would just return back to where we are now.

Agreed. What's happened since the Stone Age has been the deployment of the same aptitude for tool making/technology that made homo sapiens successful back then. That skill wouldn't be what it is if the whole species could somehow decide to arrest its own development. Not that we can't learn a lot from pre-industrial societies. I think a lot of anarchist ideas can be useful for organising our own lives or small communities even though the chances of worldwide anarchist revolution are minimal. But I wouldn't want to overly romanticise pre-industrial societies either, as though they were noble savages or the Garden of Eden from which we've been exiled.

As I've said before, I fear the hope that humanity can take some kind of species-level decision to get its act together environmentally, at the inevitable cost of lower living standards for people who could choose more, is based on unrealistic assumptions. We certainly wouldn't expect any other species to do such a thing, and for me the essence of anti-humanism is escaping the assumption that humanity is special or fundamentally different from other species. It's also about breaking down this divide between humans and nature, because humanity is a product of and hence a part of nature. We aren't alien invaders. It turns out the planet's ecosystem is truly complex, capable of being quasi-stable for geological periods of time and then changing more than it has in eons in what, on that timescale, is the blink of an eye.

If you haven't come across it, I'd recommend Straw Dogs by the philosopher John Gray for a provocative attack on humanism and the "special" qualities of consciousness, morality and free will.

Well, Forest's tropical boi (which in my mind is pronounced bo-eee!) is a very good writer! I'm usually a little skeptical when people rave about a piece of writing, but that was very, very well done and had an excellent pace and mix of credible dialogue and the right amount of narration around it. Very well done! Perhaps that could be put somewhere, once you added to it or finalized it or whatever you have in mind.
