Easy mistake! If it were $2 a gallon I’d happily fly over to Canada and fill all the containers I own 😆

Frankly I can’t really understand the issue. I know the history of developing of such patriarchal society but I don’t see why it’s still a matter of concern for modern day society. Well, that goes beyond just feminism, I don’t understand many primitive things people still use as their moral guidelines xD

Why can’t they just live and try to be happy

In the west open sexism is less common,
However I've found that it is now more discreet and subtle,
It is still there just layered beneath microaggressions and virtue signaling

But I'm glad that you've had that experience :)

Not really related, but another thing which is so widespread here is home violence of men against women, and this I also never seen in my family or circles but hear stories from here and there, and now it is decriminalised and I don’t understand why would they do that

Why would one person make life of another person they live with be a nightmare? Unhappy? Just leave then, what’s the problem. Wives and husbands are not each other’s property to treat this way

Renway why did you delete that

I’m from Sweden, which most people say is one of the most equal nations in the world in terms of gender equality. I thought that men and women had it equally good here, until some women had told me about things they had experienced, things that they think of daily, things that I don’t have to worry about as a guy.

That’s when I realized that no society is even close to being completely equal. I think that, as men, we need to understand this better, and understand the things women go through that we don’t have to go through. That’s my honest opinion atleast :P

This is a great point,
As a woman (or anyone but for now I'm talking about women), it is impossible to know if the man you're meeting is abusive,
Or when you start dating one, if he will become abusive over time. This is, IMH, not good. Especially since the power dynamics
Between men and women being as they are, and how their words weight differently

Not sure if this even relates to your posts anymore XD

Deleting your opinions or emotions because of possible homophobes’ reaction is doing them a favour. Let their arses burn but stick to your stance bb

Why can't my family be like yours :pensive:

I believe that since the problem is in men, then men should do better in fixing it internally. Like not being silent when some men tell other men how they abused their girlfriends or wives, even worse if their tone is proud. Condemnation and consolidation would really help, but over time since the issue is rotten in the very roots

In the army I was deeply surprised when one newbie tried to look cool by saying how he treats his gf as nothing and all the soldiers were bashing him for it and so he never got any respect for the time I’ve seen him around. Gives some hope, although too weak yet

That’s also a good point. It goes both ways in terms of dating, but within our topic yes, I do completely agree that jerks don’t look like jerks at the first glance. Also in some examples I’ve seen, having “good male friends” could potentially help girls if they want to escape from abusives relationships having male force backing them if the abuser is really a physical threat to her

Supporting women is one of the best uses of the male privilege

Also pardon my grammar and autocorrect, I’m typing while strolling around my midnight neighbourhood after intense gym and my keyboard seems to be even more tired than me

Also some abusive men are “brave and cool” in front of their girlfriends but act as a scared dog when they have to deal with other men who stand for the victim

Most of the time nowadays I don't even try to argue about mansplaining on the internet
I just send this Lana Del Rey song, https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=00sr2B-if-A
I must say that it is rather fitting

The Oriental Empire (and others too, ofkors), what do you think of the stance “mothers protect boys when they’re young and weak for them to protect the mothers when they become old and weak”? In the context of gender strength and power circulation

I think that it is a nice sentiment,
But sadly I've seen too many cases of men taking advantage of their mothers well into adulthood,
Especially sad when they can work for themselves but just refuse to
