This week, the Presidium of the Supreme Soviet of the USSR adopted the resolution to approve the Food Security Doctrine, banning the importation and cultivation of genetically modified plants, seeds and livestock, with an exception being for scientific research purposes. The law also bans the cultivation of genetically engineered plants and breeding of genetically engineered animals on the territory of the Union of Soviet Socialist Republics.
Agriculture is a pillar of the Soviet economy. It is now its second-largest industry after oil and gas. Along with natural resources, food experts are key to the economy and woven into the fabric of society.
Comrade Chairman of the Presidium of the USSR Shavkat Mirimonovich Mirziyoyev, when the resolution was adopted, said "We as a species have the choice to continue to develop our bodies and brains in a healthy upward trajectory, or, we can follow the Western example of recent decades, and intentionally poison our population with genetically altered food, pharmaceuticals, vaccinations, and fast food that should be classified as a dangerous, addictive drug. This law will ensure food security for our peoples, and will guarantee the agricultural future of our country."

This week, the Presidium of the Supreme Soviet of the Union of Soviet Socialist Republics has adopted the Law on Foreign Visitors' Obligations While Staying and Traveling Within the Sovreign Territory of the USSR.
This new law requires foreign visitors to sign a “loyalty agreement”.
The interior ministry prepared the new statute, and the legislation bars visitors from criticising Soviet state policy or discrediting Soviet history. It also requires that they respect traditional Soviet family values, culture and environment. All foreigners will have to sign the pledge, which would, in effect, control what they can say and do while in the Soviet Union.
This means visitors will be prohibited from “interfering with the activities of public authorities of the Union of Soviet Socialist Republics, discrediting in any form the foreign and domestic state policy of the Union of Soviet Socialist Republics, public authorities and their officials”.
In particular, foreigners will now be barred from “distorting the historical truth about the feat of the Soviet people in the defence of the Motherland and its contribution to the victory over fascism”.
Officials state that the legislation was collaboratively created by the All-Union interior ministry, the All-Union Government, and by ranking members of the Central Committee's Politburo.
