Long would look at McKinley, who would then walk out to the other room. As McKinley would walk out, he would direct the guards to leave the living room as well. Long would then take a sip of Whiskey and ask "What can I do for you? Are you hear for Official Business or other ventures."

Ferneus wrote:The Garden of New Eden usually cares little for the affairs and actions of foreign organizations and groups, but the influence of the Gulf Cartel began to step on the toes of the cult. The cultists of New Eden may have sworn off drugs and alcohol, but they still needed money to fund their operations, so many of them set up stills and marijuana plantations in order to sell alcohol and drugs all across the country as well as the more 'legal' means of bribing local politicians and taking control of businesses so that their money flows to the cult. But with the Gulf Cartel selling cocaine and guns all across the Gulf Coast and the American Southwest, the cult suddenly had less of a market. As a result, Abraham Matthews sends his public representative, main preacher, and lawyer, John Brookes, to the Gulf Cartel to arrange a meeting and perhaps work out an agreement with the Gulf Cartel.

The Gulf Cartel has no publicly known specific base besides that they are very active in Matamoros and can be assumed to be the based there.

Brookes looks at the man in front of him and sits down at the table, looking at the tea sat in front of him. He figured that if they wanted to kill him, they would've done it already, so he sips the tea offered to him.

Port Wine
Bernaber: "Hurry up, you all! We don't have all day here! Get the stuff off the ship and into the car!"

He snuffed his cigarette impatiently as he nudged the automatic pistol in his coat pocket uncomfortably. They could be here any moment for sure, he had news from Dave about the Feds searching for a boat that wasn't on any manifest. Just to be sure, he though, and pulled the pistol out of his pocket and shuffled it to his right hand.

In front of him, 7 or 8 men unloaded box after box of illegal ivory onto pickup trucks, marked as FRAGILE wine containers. Occasionally, a few corks would fall out of the padding. He needn't be this timid, he thought, as he drew one last breath from his cigarette and snuffed it out with his fingers. Everything was going according to plan, soon they would be back at the warehouse, and nobody would be the wiser.

Before he could even finish this thought, however, a shot rang out from the end of the port. They had found him faster than he expected.

Bernaber: "ROUTINE PATROLS!"

He screeched out loud, before snapping the pistol out and firing half a dozen rounds in the direction of the shot. The ground around him shot up plumes of dust. He broke out of cover and latched onto the hold of one of the pickup trucks, hiding behind the chassis and returning fire.

Bernaber: "Get those boxes out of here fast! That's 4 million if we get it to the contractor!"

He gritted his teeth as bullets embedded themselves in the wall of the pickup container. The wheels of the truck threw up dust behind them as they drove away, leaving the patrol in the distance.

They had done it, but now they were known.

As the truck pulled up to the gates of a large estate, two guards clutching submachine guns in their hands led them into the large mansion, in the middle of a pristine countryside.

Guard 1: Mulberry will be very pleased to see you. This is the latest payment, and after all, the largest job you've ever done.

He slapped a wad of cash into the hands of Bernaber, and he silently flipped through the pile.

Bernaber: "This is only 15 grand, he promised 20."

Guard: "You can talk with him after you've met him."

Bernaber strode down the two looming oak doors into the main atrium, then up the stairs. He swung open the doors to the office, and there, in front of him, behind the giant carved marble table, was none other than Mulberry Cianatt, the host and leader of the Port Syndicate.

Mulberry: "Come, my friend, don't be so surprised, take a seat."

Bernaber: "Thank you, thank you. I have come to discuss the p-"

Mulberry chuckled, cutting him short.

Mulberry: "Pay so early? You know better, Bernaber. No pay for you, I've decided."

Bernaber: "That's blasphemy! If you don't pay me, I'm reporting you and the entire organization to the police!

Mulberry: "And incriminate you as well? That would be a shame."

Bernaber: "We talked over this. You had a contract."

Mulberry chuckled uneasily.

Mulberry: "In this game, there are no contracts."

He then pulled out a pistol and shot him in the head.

Mulberry: "Too foolish. Alazak! Clean up the remains! I have a visit in 5!"

”Maybe, maybe not. If such a thing existed then it is better not acknowledged. Although I am invested in trade of certain project between the border.”

Morning of Jul 5, NYC Mafia HQ: Don Lorenzo opens the morning paper to see the headline, 'Brooklyn Representative Killed' he chuckles lightly as he lights a cigar and prepares for a meeting with the Hossermanns legal representative. The meeting would regard the tresspass of a Hossermann member into the Lorenzo families territory, something that would of led to the individual being immediately killed; but Lorenzo wanted to take things slowly.

John had more than enough experience explaining the cult's basic gist to newcomers, and so this is nothing new.

"Our flock requires funding, does it not? The sinners will not support us, for they are blind to the truth. So we must acquire the resources to sustain our operations through... lets say, less than legal means."

Jeez. we had an outage a few days ago ourselves that affected 900 houses in our side of town. Has this happening all over the country?

“Correct. There is a present issue that we face.”

He adjusts the chair so he is sitting on it with his stomach faced towards the back.

“You allow us a small portion of control of your truck fleet under your corporations name but with our men driving, and for your information what these men do and what are in these shipments will be none of your concern. Thus in return our men in PEMEX will allow a sort of... special privilege to your corporation.”

us two in Texas have it extra bad because back in the 20’s Texas flat-out decided not to connect to the national grid. So we’re f*cked, essentially.

"Don't Worry." Replies Long "Texaco has worked with the Cartels before. I agree to this deal, and I trust that your operation will not be uncovered by the Federal Government." Long stands up and shakes Lionel's hand before walking to the other room. Outside that door, three Emergency Reserve Guardsmen would motion the three men to exit the mansion. Long would later inform the deal to the rest of the Syndicate.

I don't live in Texas anymore, but I'm still in the South. But yeah, the fact that Texas isn't connected to the rest of the grid is pretty stupid to be fair.
