After having come in contact with the anti-Semitic pamphlet “The Protocols of the Elders of Zion”, the leader of the Palatinate, “Prince-Elector and Guardian of the Integral” Johann Grattler, became fascinated with the Jewish people and intended to use their seemingly unique abilities to aid him in achieving world dominance through “complete global integration”. For this purpose on the 12th of April 1923 he formally invited 550 Belarusian and Lithuanian Jewish families to migrate to the Palatinate and settle there.
It wasn’t until the Jewish newcomers arrived that Grattler learned about the “Protocols” being a forgery by the secret police of the Russian Tsar, nevertheless he still welcomed the migrants with open arms, who were thankful for the opportunity to leave the pogroms in their home country behind.
Despite not being able to help Grattler fulfill the global integration, the new Jewish community of the Palatinate still proved itself to be a net benefit to the nation. The city of Neu-Jeruschalaim, situated between Kaiserslautern and Trippstadt and founded by the 550 settler families, hosts two prestigious universities and has received the nickname “De Stadt vun Gold” by the local population due to its many beautiful and ornate buildings
