Queen Jajka passes peacefully in sleep at Zarwia, Sunna, now Crown Princess at 57, to become Queen

The Bonple royal family issued a press statement naught but one hour ago announcing that Queen Jajka has passed in her sleep at 78, reportedly from a stroke, brought on by complications from hypertension, which was further compounded by her undergoing treatment for a fractured skull and concussion which resulted from her falling in her personal residence. Jajka is survived by her only surviving child, now Crown Princess Sunna, also Kaiserin of Diemetsa, and Sunna's husband, Kaiser Hans of Diemetsa.

The news of death, though still fresh in the news cycle, has been met with widespread mourning throughout both Bonple but also our compatriot states of Diemetsa and Kolanica, as well as fellow Sberrj-ruled states of Nedporen and Valirria, and Bonples all around the world. Many, though seeing Jajka as knocking on death's door, were shocked that it happened as soon as it did, as just yesterday Jajka was up and taking a walk around Zarwia, and appeared to be in good health. Nonetheless, doctors found no evidence of foul play in her passing.

The Bonple Congress, still in session, held a moment of silence upon the news of her passing, and then, following with tradition, awarded her her epithet, with "the Great" winning the vote handily. Several members, including General Kacper Pater and Marcel Konopa, also gave their condolences to Crown Princess Sunna, and gave speeches remembering Jajka the Great, praising her leadership and devotion to duty and success in building Bonple into the great power it is today, as well as praising her as an outstanding military leader and a more than capable monarch.

That sentiment is shared by many Bonples, but there are those, including Janusz Kurek, who view her differently. Though they acknowledge her as a great leader, they have also come to question some of her achievements, claiming it was the average person that allowed Jajka to accomplish many of the things she did. Kurek has also, in particular, been critical of her role during the South Stelin War and her failure to take action in removing radical nationalist elements from the government sooner, which he says would have prevented the war.

Nonetheless, many Bonple historians hold Jajka the Great in high regard, and the government has ordered all flags at half-mast for the rest of the week. Sunna will now take on the role of Crown Princess until her official coronation, which, along with Jajka's funeral, do not have a date set yet, though Sunna promised that both will occur soon and that the dates will be given as soon as possible.

The Queen is dead, long live the Queen!
