I mean if you consider Potential Creatures coming from the void, things like Dwellers & More Potentially yes but it's more so a side-effect as Joe didn't know until I told him, which is my fault. I guess it wouldn't do much beyond additional damage, but the Portal can be closed by just nuking it again with the same ICBM Joe made.
