The Revolution burns bright in Anise! Thanks to the stunning efforts Nabil bin Kareem al Bunnirti the yoke of monarchy was cast off in The First Containment War in 1793 after sailing saboteurs past the Grand Anisean walls and opening the gates, swiftly defeating the Royal Army. The Revolutionary flag was raised over the palace while the Grand Duchess and her family were arrested and Nabil proclaimed the new Vínfalov-Meylean Republic. After the Treaties of Amestris and Kopenwald the Vínfalov-Meylean Republic was solidly a follower of the Revolutionary ideals. Parades and speeches were conducted by the First Lord President of Vínfalov-Meyle Adonis tou Adirondack-Bunbirti.

But to most of the citizens partaking in the parades and cheering at President Adonis's speeches atop the Presidential Palace, he was an imposter sitting in a stolen home. While the true ruler was housed in a simple house in Old Town. Their freedoms were clamped down, business ventures were cut off, and the typical personal freedoms most Rootbeerians enjoyed were ironically hindered, or blocked behind some bureaucracy. Despite this, the Republic remains very wealthy thanks to the large gold reserves of the Great families and a higher average standard of living compared to the rest of the continent. But as more countries begin restricting trade, so too will the busy port of Anise be affected. As Nabil bin Kareem al Bunbirti seems to not be tired of his conquests only time will tell if the small Republic can survive.
