If you ever find yourself on Vancouver Island in Canada, I highly recommend visiting Cathedral Grove in MacMillan Provincial Park as it is the most spectacular concentration of Douglas Fir I have ever seen. The main road from Nanaimo to Port Alberni passes right through it. Bonuses around Port Alberni include some beautiful lakes as well as great views of the Golden Hinde, which is the high point of the island and reflects light in an especially spectacular manner!

I’ve been to BC quite a few times, but never Vancouver Island itself. I’ll have to check it out one of these days.
