Knootians are also the smartest people in the region, according to these very same statistics. SCIENCE! proves me right.

Intelligence is also not proof of rationality.

It is. Knootians are the happiest citizens of the region, too, so clearly your irrational faith does not provide you with much comfort.

"The Gods are just. No doubt. But their code of law is dictated, in the last resort, by the people who organize society; providence takes its cue from men."

Yet more evidence WA ratings are teh suxx0r.

Perhaps this passion for defending the alleged rationality and science of Knootians can be channeled into substantive edits of the New Atheism article on NSWiki?

How would the Knootians benefit from doing so?

Lame.

That is not a very rational or convincing argument. I think you can do better.

No more talk about Knootian tories, please!

I have no interest in formulating arguments, rational or otherwise, about what's "in it for you." The question itself is galling. This is a game we're playing together and NSWiki is supposed to be a collaborative project. I am increasingly jaded by the ethos which has developed on NSWiki in the last few years where people only make substantive edits to articles they themselves started. That is far from the spirit of a Wiki and from the spirit which once prevailed. I can only write specifics from my own nation in a general article and I find it both mystifying and annoying that others seem content to leave it that way. I thought that you would be interested in writing about views you tediously push and which are allegedly important to Knootian discourse and culture. I thought we could get some information from nations where the ideology holds sway and not just an article entirely about proponents from a country where even most atheists consider it intellectually unserious. If you want me to argue for it or beg for it or bargain for it, I'm not going to. I already did bargain for it and you made a bad-faith performance based on a narrow and technical reading of the bargain, accompanied by a snide remark. Just don't expect me to be well-disposed when you ask for my contributions.

The main issue is that mainstream Knootian thought would not organise itself as some narrow intellectual movement. There is no need whatsoever for secular intellectuals in Knootoss and, I would guess, Xirnium to form a special club with magazines and everything. You call it "New" Atheism but it is not new in Knootoss.

Also: stop being a grumpypants! We were joking around, remember?

Also if Xirnium had to design an FPS game it'd be like this: http://xkcd.com/569/

1. I didn't coin the term.

2. I am generally grumpy about the increasing abandonment of "Be bold" attitudes.

3. Is this accurate? If so, could you at least toss in some names?

"The New Atheists are well-received in Knootoss but there is little to no indigenous New Atheist movement in that country. This is largely because the core defining doctrines of New Atheism (that religion warrants aggressive criticism, that the scientific method is appropriately applied to the idea of God) are mainstream in Knootoss and by no means new. As in other nations, Knootoss has academics who overtly defend a comprehensive logical positivist philosophy. However, there are some organised groups, such as Humanists and the Order of the Invisible Hand which include atheism as one tenet of a more elaborate system of beliefs. There are also academics who offer philosophical accounts of atheism different from mainstream Knootian discourse, including Existentialism and Marxism. Knootian atheists tend to focus on the Catholic Church as a reactionary institution to be opposed. While they disagree profoundly with contemporary Protestants, they commonly see the Protestant Reformation and the Dutch Reformed Church in particular as a stepping stone towards a more liberal society. By rejecting the authority of the Church and promoting individual judgment on matters of conscience, these Knootians believe, the Dutch Reformers started Knootoss on the path to becoming a secular, liberal republic. Some critics, including many Catholics but also some secularists, reject this theory. To these critics, this line of reasoning is just Protestant religious sectarianism in a secular trapping."

Also, I reject the idea that the New Atheism is just a group for secular intellectuals or atheists as such. It presents itself that way but it is effectively a movement to popularise logical positivism, which is a quite specific perspective.

Also, Next magazine isn't a magazine for New Atheism. It is a magazine for computer nerds. They just did some of the most well-known stories on the topic is all.

Also, when joking, you are required by law to post a winking smilie, like so. ;)

Conservative doesnt always mean tory. There are many conservatives in the labour party. Some people think I'm conservative but I vote left!

Conservative means different things to different people and in different contexts and in different countries.

http://www.nswiki.net/index.php?title=Amber_Trinh

Would Trinh be considered a conservative in Excalbia?

Oh, by the way, I changed the delegate permissions only because I got some telegrams about potential invaders. So I wanted to make that impossible/meaningless.

In Excalbia Trinh would probably best fit into the Progressive Conservatives. Although she might also fit into the Christian Union-Reform Party.

In Knootoss Trinh might've been part of the Catholic People's Party, which is economically centrist but socially conservative.

Is anyone's nation notable for its sandstone?

How about limestone?

How about no? ;)

What about travertine? Am I the only one who has quarries at all?
