LDA Debate Region

Hello last week there was no debate as you guys were already debating a topic.

This week's debate will be: What do you think of Colombia's recent revolt?

For those who don't know, after the president of Colombia made a tax reform that increased taxes on the middle class and many years of state terrorism, the population of Colombia rose up against this, some peacefully and others not so peacefully. To make matters worse the president removed the people's right to protest.

I didn't even know about this.

Is it likely the govt will be overpowered or are they capable of quashing the uprisings?

Increased taxes? Burn it all down. Did Colombia have the right to protest? Not even we have that here, you have to ask the gov and they have to give you a pass to assemble for a protest.

i wrote a super long answer but that strangely deleted itself and i dont want to write it again but i wanted to say that he shouldnt removed the right to protest because that is like the worst things zou can do and increase tax for the wealthy and if thats not enough for the middle class and still not enough for everyone and if thats still not enough zou should cut government spending.

The government is capable of squashing these types of uprisings, but the problem is that there are big communist militias all around Colombia trying to overthrow the government, if the Colombian government decides to send their military to the streets and squash the rebellion they could be overthrown by the militias.

Also there are many state leaders and local mayors enciting the people to start a civil war and overthrow the government.

Ah, well let's hope it doesn't fall to communism. Though I don't have any sympathy for the current regime.

I just saw the news and many of the governor's homes were burned down.

The Legislative assembly was also burned down, and there are rumors about a group trying to bomb the presidential palace.

Is it the people fighting the gov or just some insane authoritarian party trying to sieze the power? If its the people, godspeed.

Just the people, which is kind of amazing how fast they did it.

At around 1 and 3/4 months (June 28, if I am correct), the Liberty Democratic alliance will celebrate its first anniversary.
It seems that the RMB has reached 300 pages, an astonishing, but welcome milestone.

The Story So Far
You have ordered an attack on East Lebatuck’s military bases in San Vitenzo.

The Issue
The enemy’s soldiers have suffered overwhelming casualties, thanks to your advanced military technology. Unfortunately, East Lebatuck seems to have interpreted your actions as an unforgivable assault upon their nation and its allies. Moments ago, all of the nuclear missiles on San Vitenzo were launched and appear to be headed at targets throughout Penguinium.

The Debate
“HOLY VIOLET! GET TO THE BUNKER! RUN!” A flood of screaming people push you downstairs and through a long hallway, stumbling into the fallout shelter beneath your office. The door clanks shut as the last staff members sprint through the reinforced threshold. Your defense minister shambles over towards you, head in hands. “Well, we’re screwed. Penguinia is finished. I’m not even sure this bunker can withstand a direct hit. On the bright side, our own nuclear missiles are ready for launch. Which of East Lebatuck’s cities do you hate the most?” A nervous guffaw escapes from his lips.

Accept

“No... we can’t do that to the poor folks,” murmurs Maureen Dusk, devoid of guitar, her voice barely above a whisper. “East Lebatuck is filled with people like us. The oppressed, freedom-loving consumers won’t ever have a chance to rise up and overthrow the communist government if we wipe them from existence. Don’t retaliate, Emperor Johann Sebastian Bach the V. The violence has to stop somewhere. By the way, it was an honor serving with you.” A single teardrop runs down her face.

either way, I'm screwed, launch missiles at East Lebatuck time.

Actually I had this issue. Can't remember what I chose, but don't worry the next issue of the serie ('madness' I think) will allow you to change the situation. If I remember correctly, the secret agent you sent will tell you that he removed the warheads from the missiles or something like that.

Luckily for me, James Bont disabled those missiles. Hooray

I wonder where the missiles I sent went? :)

I've had a glance at the Council of ministers and at the issue raised about lacking diversity of ideologies.

Perhaps something could be added to the WFE to indicate that the region welcomes all ideologies and viewpoints from across the political spectrum, excluding ones of hate and bigotry.

Well, we do welcome all ideologies, the problem is actually making those nations with more authoritarian ideologies join.
