He was Prince Philip of Greece and Denmark. How those two nations managed to end up with the same dynasty I'm not sure. Then again, all European royalty is related due to all the inbreeding so...

Inbreeding? Like House Targaryen of Dragonstone in fiction, or the Hawaiian Royal family in history? How naughty!

I often refer to the Habsburgs as the Targaryens of Europe. They even have blonde hair like them! There was one emperor of the dynasty who not only had the infamous Habsburg jaw but also had a tongue so large it could not fit in his mouth. This resulted in him constantly drooling.

They changed it,
maybe it should have been Windsor-Mountbatten,

Moaning Lisa wrote:Wasn’t Prince Philip actually royalty in two nations before his marriage to Elizabeth?

yes, danish and greek prince, but he surrendered the titles, for elizabeth, thinking it would be the house of windsor-mountbatten
but it wasnt
(that was some hard karma for him at the time)

Windsor, from what I recall. Not winsdor. And Mountbatten. It used to be battenberg but they anglicized it.

The Habsburg began their rise to power through an intelligent strategy of exogamy marrying outside to consolidate their power as much as possible, afterwards, they reversed policy and began an intensive endogamy policy. Marrying between cousins, uncles, nieces and so on.

The worst offender became the Habsburg Spain (Casa de Austria or House of Austria), reaching it peak with Charles II of Spain. How bad it was, well ...

https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC2664480/

Charles II had a degree of inbreeding of (F = 0.254), a parent-child or brother-sister has a degree of (F = 0.250). So the accumulative effect was greater than the result of a first incest degree.

From wikipedia. The autopsy results:

"... did not contain a single drop of blood; his heart was the size of a peppercorn; his lungs corroded; his intestines rotten and gangrenous; he had a single testicle, black as coal, and his head was full of water."

So let's say that for this and other reasons here in Aigania have a heartly support exogamy and genetic mixing.)

Yea, it would be better if incest was just straight up illegal. When it comes to royalty I would rather be a bastard working for the family than to be forced to marry a cousin or whatever.
