And then...there were five!

Huzzah! And just in time to enjoy all the new features they are adding to NS!

P.S. I like the new flag on Kearoka.

Yay people are back!

Also, my favorite thing about the new charts and graphs for each nation. 1% of the population in Ferngully dies from "termite attack." :-D

Termite attacks are nothing to smile about, you insensitive @$$hole.

Let a few chew on your leg for a while; see what you think of them then.

You have the best retorts...

IC: As you can see from our national page, Cylean police are currently engaged in a ferocious battle with biker gangs for control of our streets. Overzealous insects are the least of our problems right now.

Perhaps you could send a few of your termites over to us? The threat of their deployment might help get the "Lumberjack" gang under control. The Chancellor's Office will be sure to compensate you for your shipping costs once order is restored and the Senate elects a new leader.

I like that 5% of the cause of death in my country is from getting lost in the wilderness lol.

Nice.

Apparently scurvy and acts of God are minor problems in my nation. I'm not sure how to interpret the latter--if they mean natural disasters (earthquakes, etc.), couldn't they just say that?

You forgot to mention nuclear spill and cancer (24%). Clearly your country has some health issues that need to me taken care of. :P

I can't help but wonder what distinguishes the nuclear spill victims from the cancer deaths. Seems like the two are probably related... :-)

Probably because the majority of your economy comes from the private sector.

I'm not sure how it happened, but somehow I've overtaken Rock87 as the most populous nation in the region. I thought population was purely a function of a nation's age?

I never got around to it while I was the regional delegate, but Nationstates has a function where you can create a "regional flag" that can be posted on this page.

Is anybody interested in me making one for Rock87 to post? If so, any suggestions on what it should look like?

Cylea, 25% of your citizens die from cancer.

Curse you, Adazarn, for edging out The Happyland for the least happy citizens in the region and the irony that should rightfully be mine!

Cylea is just barely outside the top 1% in the world for most devout.

The rest of you pagans? Not so much. ;-)

Heh. And Adazarn is in the top 1% worldwide for most conservative...

Just saw that. Is that the first time any of us has cracked top 1% of something worldwide?

I want to say no? It appears to be the first since they started keeping track with the award medallions though. (Unless someone is willing to come forward and show me otherwise...)

Before they were awarding those medals, I tried to keep track of our rankings informally from time to time. You need to make it into the top 830 in the world to be in the top 1%. I thought I remembered people making it into the 790s from time to time. I may be remembering wrong though. Plus, the total nations in the world has been as low as 66000 in the past years, which increases the burden on us. I could be remembering correctly about somebody making 790, but if it happened at a time the global population was at a low mark, we still wouldn't make the top 1%.

I think too much of Cylea's historical records have gone missing since the Cylean Historical Society lost there budget to the Young Cylean Lawmakers of Tomorrow organization (government sponsored) during the governments last budgetary meeting. Therefore anything mentioned by a member of the Cylean Historical Society is purely speculative.

Be that as it may, as the only nation in the region that has an Historical Society, you're stuck with my records until one of you goes through the four years it takes to establish one of your own. :-)

Incidentally, I really enjoy your new national slogan.

So...some of you may be aware that my cartography bug flared up again. :-)

This is still a work in progress, but please check out the following link for a current concept of what the IoLS looks like. I'm really happy with what I have so far, so hopefully these will be the definitive maps from now on. (Please note: you can click on the image to zoom in)

If you're interested, I finished work on Cylea's end of the continent first, since I obviously have a better idea about my preferences there. The terrain map is not quite finished in the far east and west, but you can find those links here:

I'd really appreciate your feedback if you get the chance. Hopefully after my finals finish I'll have the time to add in more terrain and political borders for everybody.

Besides The Happyland your neighboring nations don't exist anymore. :) Other than that the map looks really close to what the maps used to be. I really like it! Any ideas on what's going to be next after the maps are done? :D

Actually, my intent is to include on these maps pretty much every nation I can recall ever being in the IoLS, all the way back to Swampy Bog (he'll be in the northeast corner of the continent, where all the tiny lakes are). The fact that I'm not bordered by current members is a coincidence. Adazarn is the collection of islands due south of me though, and Rock is close by to the north--I actually haven't decided yet where Fogindoor's borders will be, so there's a chance Rock might reach down that river valley and border me.

Haven't really thought about projects after the maps are done. If I still have time for cartography once Practice Court starts, I'll probably be doing zoom-ins on various parts of the continent like I've already done for Cylea.

What about a star map of the IOLS nations as space colonies? What nations would you envision being near the outer rim?

I actually once started work on a star map for the IoLS, but I'm pretty sure I no longer have the files. I wasn't very far along, and it didn't really grab my interest the way more traditional maps do. Mostly because my sense of scale wouldn't permit me to give us each more than a handful of star systems, which were just a few dots in a tiny, tiny sliver of the galaxy. :-)

I'd probably do a similar format to the current map though. Rock87 in the center, Adazarn and Ferngully out on the rim.
