One day, one hour, it's all the same, except you certainly don't have a day left to vote in this poll!

page=poll/p=158182

Atsvea, Lord Dominator, Turbeaux, Outer Bele Levy Epies, and 2 othersI like fire, and Team steam

In light of the results and the fact that there is only 18 minutes left, I would like to call this a draw. XD

Congratulations to The Federated Bailiwicks of Verdant Haven, who has just won our election for Forest Keeper for the remainder of this term!!

With 36 out of 42 votes, that's a mandate!

Also, thank you to The Unity of Raider Bele Levy Epies, The Jingoistic Police State of Mowte, and Chan island for being part of the process and adding to the realism! :-)

I would like to silently protest the result, in keeping with my campaign gimmick.

Raider Bele Levy Epies, can I still get that free tree? I'll settle for anything at this point!

And I still would like Mowte to force all events to be on the offsite RMB! Maybe Verdant Haven can make them some cabinet position in charge of the RMB/Forum?

Screams? Why would you think you heard screams? Blood? Oh, no, that's . . . cranberry juice.

A lot of cranberry juice.

This cranberry juice sure tastes metallic.

Congratulations to Verdant Haven on their re-election as Forest Keeper. The election process is now concluded.

Thank you, and thank you to all Forest citizens. I am honored and humbled to have received your votes once again, and will do everything in my power to make you proud.

I have begun extending formal position offers to returning officers, and will soon be seeking a couple additional folks to fill positions that are either new or vacated by departing members of the officer staff.

Errinundera - Once I have responses from most of my (hopefully) returning officers, I'll post requesting titles and positions, and will do a follow-up with new appointees as soon after that as possible!

That would lose the point of this event..., also why everybody wants to make the RMB less attractive to visitors? I mean this events are sure to attract a lot of new people, I mean this actually made me interested in Forest... so... I don't see why there's so much trouble with it... maybe it's because it isn't what your RMB is about... but that's kind of the point to do something different, anyway you know Forest a lot more that I do, so this is just an opinion of a newcomer.

Forest, as a region, is centered on its RMB. What I mean by this is that while we have an offsite forum, and we have a Discord channel, we do not use them for regular day-to-day business of the region. The day to day business is all conducted on the RMB. Forest is also a region that is based on real-life affinity. We are not a roleplay-based region, nor do we enforce any specific play-styles - we are a region that is made of people who share a real-life/out-of-game belief in or interest in environmentalism. We like to move deliberately and with thought. We like our RMB to have fleshed-out posts with an almost academic bent to them, and when the RMB begins moving a mile a minute due to event posts (or any other cause), we lose the ability to have meaningful conversation on the very real topics that concern us. We love participating in stuff, but we like to have our conversations in one place, and our events in another, so that we can keep track of both and respond to them appropriately.

Think of our RMB as like our classroom. There are pleasantries, jokes, chatter, etc but the main purpose is discussion and thought. If we hold a rock concert, the appropriate venue is in the concert hall, not the classroom. The same people can enjoy and attend both, but if the performers keep running in to the classroom and doing guitar riffs, it disrupts things.

Oh, I see... well I suppose you're going to move this event to another dedicated RMB, forum or Discord as you planned earlier. still it was fun to see the posts in public here in the main RMB, but I now understand what do you use it for.

I know this would be somewhat inconvenient, but there might be events that cannot be on offsite forums or discord, so what if we made a puppet region exactly for that purpose? We could call it “Tree” or “Garden” or “Arboretum” or even “The Haven of Verdancy”! All of Forest’s events would take place on their onsite RMB, meaning we’d have two separate on-site RMBs, one for events and spam and jokes (that would be “Arboretum“ or whatever) and the other RMB (Forest’s original one) for real discourse.

That would be a good idea, since you still could be in Forest and post in that region owned by Forest, still I think the region should be called the Public Park of Forest, you know because it's public stuff :P

What about “Puppe-tree”, because it’s a puppet region and of trees....

Just no. I like my RMB the way it is. We are not a clone of TSP.

We simply don’t want our RMB to be clogged with events, but we agree with others that it is unfair to force events and outsiders to talk on an off-site forum, so having a puppet region simply so we can use its RMB for less “academic” discourse we feel is a good compromise. You don’t have to use the puppet’s RMB if you don’t want to; it’s only for events and less serious or more annoying matters.

Yes, and speaking as someone who regularly uses an autologin for my vast army of puppets, whoever is founder of that region will either have to log in at the very minimum of two weeks or have a couple of others put their puppets in there so the region does not Cease to Exist when the founder CTEs (if on password) or tagged by raiders just because they could.

The main issue with this idea is that embassy posting doesn't quite work with it. The only reason people from Wintreath and TRR are able to post on this RMB is because Forest has embassies with those two regions. Since a second-RMB region wouldn't have embassies with all our embassy regions -- probably it would just have one with Forest -- that means participants from other regions would be forced to create a puppet nation or move their main in order to participate.

Our forum, really, is meant for exactly these kinds of things. It's supposed to function as our set of backup/more fully-featured RMBs. Foreign participants can quickly sign up on the forum or log into their permanent account there without having to move their nation. Plus, it's a lot easier to organize and archive when you have multiple events going on.

EDIT: I can also speak from experience on the matter of having a second, "lighter" RMB. It's a tactic we tried in TSP, creating a second region, Knowhere, to accommodate the lighter roleplay posts that were clogging up the main board. It worked for a while, and is still around, but in the end people didn't want to talk too much there because it felt isolated and you couldn't get any sidebar little-red-number post notifications from Knowhere as long as your nation was still in the main region.

Congratulations Verdant Haven on your re-election! Conch Kingdom wishes you the best.
