I'm far too busy figuring out how to repair water treatment plants (again!) by opening random valves and punching random buttons and dying randomly in what looks like two feet of water... [deep breath] ...to have time for super villiany.

GLaDOS didnt even kill me this much.

EDIT: So I just picked up again in the Act 2 water treatment plant where I rage quit last night, and behold! The door I was trying to open last night while flicking random buttons and valves was now suddenly open! I don't know how or why, but I rush madly through the open passage. What about the achievement for making the treatment plant operational again? Fu*k it! The escape is open. Jailbreak! This vaguely German and/or Finnish (?) municipal infrastructure inspector is going to get the hell out of here, plant be damned. He's long suspected that headquarters has been trying to kill him, sending him on all these absurd Indiana Jones-like assignments. All he wanted was a quiet desk job, rubber-stamping blueprints and the like. It's probably that bastard in Accounts. Never liked that guy. Anyway, now it's just a matter of survival. The premise is thin, the story is silly, and the voice acting is awful, but none of that matters now. Escape! Soon this torment will be over. Just one more godforsaken sewer...

Heyo guys, update from TSP (a bit slightly overdue, sorry)

Our Prime Minister Nakari has resigned. (note can be found here: https://tspforums.xyz/thread-8565.html). Special elections are currently underway in order to elect a new Prime Minister.

Also, our Minister of Regional Affairs, Seraph, has also resigned (note: https://tspforums.xyz/thread-8613.html). However, since he resigned after the halfway point in the term, the cabinet has appointed Penguin to fill out the rest of her term (note: https://tspforums.xyz/thread-8630.html)

Also, I appear to not have congratulated Ruinenlust on his ascension to the delegacy, congratulations!!! And, may retirement from the delegacy treat you well Ransium, 13 years on this game is impressive, let alone as delegate.

Now, on the topic of CTE'd nations. Kinda fills one up with nostalgia. I mean, it's someone who either got bored of the game or real life dragged them away. I definitely always wonder what they were like, their interests, etc. Idk, I'm kinda weird though :p

I'll confess to the analogy running away from me fairly close to the beginning there; I was trying to say "thanks Ransium, good luck Ruinenlust!"

Haha, I have turned into "your long-suffering living room furniture" in addition to the delegacy and foreign office. When will it end?! ;-)

But seriously, thank you to everyone! The level of support from our fine community is amazing. We have such a wonderful group of people here.

It's unfortunate that both Uan aa Boa and McClandia Doge 2 have ceased to exist. We have lost a number of nations over the past few weeks. Maybe I'm mistaken about this, but it has always seemed to me that we have a dip in activity over the summer, and that things pick up again in the fall.

I must admit, any departures or lapses in activity over the past several months inevitably make me worried, and the concern has at some point gone towards all but the few most active members.

Yeah it usually gets quieter over the summer, but with everything going on this year there seems to be less of a delineation between summer and not summer.

Well, seeing as I have summer camp in the summer I sometimes cte then. (My activity usually picks back up with the school year.) I wanted to take a long break in light of the current situation; but now that I’m going back to high school I am back on NS. Congratulations Ruinenlust!

Hello forest friends. You probably heard that several regional discords were destroyed by a griefer today, XKI's among them. We're still working on getting set up again and of course if you've been banned you are welcome back in(You should have been contacted about it personally by now.).

Greetings my fellow NS members. As some of you may have heard, today 10000 Islands was targeted by a person impersonating a member of our Discord moderation team. This impersonator was able to gain access to our entire discord server by impersonating an offline moderator, to the detriment of our region.

This impersonator, once having access to our server, engaged in a destructive action that left our entire server destroyed. All information within our server since it was created in late 2016/early 2017 has been destroyed and is beyond retrieval. Over a dozen members of our server were also banned by them, and we are working on contacting them in order to re-invite them. We ask that the community please have patience while we work go fix what has been destroyed, and if you know anything please contact us.

I can't believe that people gave control of the discords to someone claiming to be the alternative account of a nationstates moderator especially XKI who you would think would be more savvy, it's like giving your bank details to a Nigerian Prince who wants pay some money into your account

They were claiming to be a alternative account of one of our discord moderators, not a nationstates moderator. A very trusted member of our community, who wasn't on at the time to expose the lie.

That seems like a major oversight. Though considering Greater Dienstad and Tidewater were also deleted, and assuming it's all perpetrated by a singular individual, they must have been a damn good impersonator, have a very persuasive technique, or admins just didn't suspect foul play and couldn't/didn't check to make sure it wasn't a random before granting mod powers.

And yeah, it was a discord mod, not a game mod. I doubt even a game mod can just waltz up anywhere and get mod on discord, which makes these incidents all the more unexpected. Fortunately, our discord only has 1 mod.

Congratulations Ruinenlust and Ransium. 😂

~ Official Government Post ~

Dear Friends,

With a final vote tally of 23-3, we have voted to close embassies with Evergreen Conifer, an officially defunct region.

And finally, we come to part three of three, with our requested vote to close embassies with another officially closed region, The Federation of Anarchist Communes.

Mozworld wrote:When Futaba Aoi and Evergreen Conifer are out of the way, can I also propose closing The Federation of Anarchist Communes aswell, since they say Region Closed in their WFE.

Mount Seymour wrote:Evergreen Conifer and FAC are reasonable because they have officially closed down.

If you look at their World Factbook Entry, the first thing says, "### REGION CLOSED###". Also, the penultimate RMB post says as much.

I think this vote nicely wraps things up for the time being, but if anyone has any other proposals, please let me know.

Your long-suffering Foreign World Affairs Sofa Assembly Branch Delegate,
Ruinenlust

From my experience, a lot of regional admins are just far too trusting - especially in UCRs. The one thing you need to do if you're an admin is to verify everything by telegrams onsite. It's essentially 2 Factor Authentication as it requires the impersonator to also have access to the nation they're impersonating.

Trust, but verify.

I keep getting issues about boxing matches.

Hopefully the incident that happened in XKI will teach regional admins to be more carefull. Also for some reason they havent announced who the impersonator was even though supposedly they have been found and banned from XKI.

The impersonator is known and identified.

We don't need more people piling on and giving tips to XKI on how they messed up and how they could've done better. They very well know their own situation, and frankly anyone could fall for it. Be a little more empathetic to a region that just lost years of its history!

When was I being not empathetic? I just said that what happened will show people be more careful, like you said anyone could fall for it so isn't it better to not let people fall for it again?

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

To plant an Acorn
Announcing Embassies and Nuclear Collaboration with Forest

Dear readers, may you be New West Indian, Forester, or simply curious,

It is a great pleasure and honour to announce that, following a landslide poll in Forest and acceptance by the Department of Foreign Affairs, an embassy will be opened between Forest and the New West Indies. The Embassy will hopefully mark the beginning of a close partnership between our two regions.

Forest is the kind of region about which one can only offer praise. They are a large but tight-knit and compassionate community; they uphold principles of democracy and equality between nations. Most of all, they have had previous contacts with Evergreen Conifer, and have shown particular interest in the well being of the Coniferan community here. This is a region that has shown that it cares for those it calls its friends, even when they are outside their borders.

This would have never been possible without the hard work of Turbeaux/Green Bowers, known here as Forest Breeze, who has been particularly supportive of the embassy, and was of invaluable help in furthering the NWI's candidacy. It fills me with joy that they accepted to represent Forest here, and it is without hesitation that I receive their credentials to be the Ambassador of Forest to the New West Indies.

In the New West Indies, the Honourable Secretary of Foreign Affairs Funky Goats deserves to be called an architect of this partnership, having dialogued with Forester representatives and shown leadership in the Coniferan Remnant community by collecting the thoughts of fellow Coniferans on the embassy with Forest. Make sure to gift a shrub to our favourite goat next time you stumble upon them in the lush meadows of the Indies!

To serve as our Ambassador to Forest, it made the most sense to appoint a former Coniferan with knowledge and understanding of Evergreen Conifer's positions, and someone who understands the value of Culture in a partnership. Central ninjago city, a Co-Founder of Evergreen Conifer and a former Minister of Culture there, stands as an obvious choice. On the advice of Secretary Funky Goats, I am proud to accredit Central Ninjago City (also known as Craei Theau) as the Ambassador of the New West Indies to Forest.

I will also take this occasion to congratulate Ruinenlust for ascending to Forest's delegacy. It is a secret to nobody that Ransium left a particularly large pair of shoes to fill. Ruinenlust is, by all measures, one of the most capable individuals to fill it, and their long time commitment to Forest, coupled with their diplomatic skill and experience, makes them likely to be a great successor to Ransium. On the behalf of the entirety of the New West Indies, the Office of the Secretary-General wishes Ruinenlust and Forest a prosperous and constructive time at the Delegacy.

Citizens of our two regions will very soon be able to see the benefits of this friendship. Mount Seymour/Somyrion was generous enough to invite the New West Indies to join The Potato Alliance at the next N-Day5 event. N-Day is a Nationstates event that involves a nuclear war, where regions can team up and either protect each other, bomb each other to oblivion, and often both. To better understand what this impending Nuclear war is, check out these two dispatches:

page=dispatch/id=874170

page=dispatch/id=1422773

The Potato Alliance is a super-faction with many different nations from different friendly regions, from our friends in Forest to Spiritus to the North and South Pacifics. All are friends, and all are determined to make it to the first row of NS' ranking. While you will all get more information very soon, reading the above dispatch will already give you an idea of what will be happening in late September.

With that, I hope you will join me in congratulating the new ambassadors and celebrating the establishment of Embassies with this cultural and environmental powerhouse, but also a adorable patch of green in the multiverse that is Forest!

Additionally, I would like to welcome Central ninjago city as their ambassador to Forest. They served in EC's government (in the roles of co-founder and Minister of Culture) as Craei theau, so they are already familiar with us.

It is an honour and privilege to serve as the N.W.I ambassador to the region of Forest. I thank the people of this great region very much for voting in favour of opening embassies with the New West Indies and Turbeaux who has worked so hard to make this possible, through their hard work and communication this has been made a reality.

A little bit about me: I was a four-term Foreign Minister in the past but I've never served as an ambassador strangely enough, so this is quite new for me. I'm very glad that Forest is the first region I'm an ambassador for, it is indeed quite a task for such a large active region but I'm sure I'll be able to get comfortable and begin in no time. Back to my story, I joined Conifer as Craei Theau in late 2018 after...disagreements with my old region and absolutely loved my time there. It was truly home and all Coniferans were so welcoming. It was a region where I felt like there was a place for me and one that I could never leave. In sudden succession/transition talks in late 2019 I became Minister of Culture. Later on I became co-founder and we eventually merged with the New West Indies, thanks to the efforts of Karteria (Secretary-General of the NWI at the time) and the co-founder Central Birdland. I'm proud now to serve as the ambassador of the NWI to a region that many of us there have so much in common with.

A bit about me as a person: I come from Eastern-Europe and spend most of my day either reading the news from there or just refreshing the website to see if anything new happened. I love politics, at this point I basically LIVE for politics. Otherwise, I spend most of my day at a local protest or watching movies. I live for politics and movies (more martial arts movies) and LOVE Ninjago. Speaking of movies/animation, I love Yuri on Ice and would like to become a figure skater one day and then a local councillor. At this point I realize what a sad life I have...

Why I’m glad to be here: Forest is a region that holds many values that are close to my heart and I'm sure that we'll get along very well. I'll spend the next while just exploring the discord, forum, constitution and all the culture-related documents. I'm so impressed to see this region values its culture and has put a lot of effort into creating an environment as well as managing and observing it and noting every detail. I'm also quite excited to look through the regional history and get in touch with all the Forestians (I hope that's the correct demonym). I’ve recently created a nationstate to reside in Forest and to actually get to know the culture and experience the events. It would be a shame not to get into all that Forest has to offer, so much hard work that I really admire.

Feel free to contact me on discord: Incomparable Kai #1841
OR
Contact me by telegram, either through my main (Central Ninjago City) or the nationstate I just moved in: Greater Wolven City.

Hope to chat with you all soon,
Central Ninjago City

As of this writing, we are divided exactly 50-50 on the proposal. Needless to say, I have not yet voted.

As with most SC resolutions it’s complex. To try to boil it down: Evil Wolf, a raider and GCR couper (attributes generally meriting a condemn at the scale Evil Wolf did them) was originally commended for raiding and destroying facist regions. The central question is whether Evil Wolf is a raider who mal (the ordinal author) just made seem like a dedicated Nazi hunter, or was Evil Wolf actually that central in destroying Nazi regions, and the repeal is just motivated by “ZOMG! Raiders can’t have commends/badges”

It’s also from Marxist Germany, who has made it a mission to repeal many things for I quote, “Libertarianism” and “to shrink the Big WA”. Also quotes like “Inequality is not an inherent issue. It is born out of envy and jealousy.“, “ The left proposes that everyone should suffer equally, or at least, that is what happens under leftist governments.”, “ Trump's platform is also the most progressive Republican platform”, “ You keep flouting Trump's coronavirus response yet you fail to note that the federal government has little power to stop a virus.”, “Considering Richard Spencer endorsed Biden, it is clear the fascists and white supremacists hate Trump.” and also https://media.discordapp.net/attachments/431810504735064094/746347027901972530/572ab9d.png.
