Is there anywhere I can view the 'WA Secreatcrait' or officers able to declare WA/Security Council proposals legal or illegal etcetera?

Other chamber is just the moderators I believe.

To those of you who choose the last answer: you are boring and choose the most obvious responses.

Thanks very much I see the link now although it seems well out of date as as Segistan, Ransium, and a raft of others not listed are approving unless it's open to all moderators.

They do proposal legality in the other place. GenSec does it in the General Assembly.

And I'm thinking of leaving. People here are very smart. I can't keep up 😞
Or maybe I just read and learn, because chats can get so interesting. But it's hard for me to get involved.

People here are incredibly smart yeah. I honestly love it. And friendly too, which I think is 2/3rds of what we should strive for as humans. Smart, Friendly, and Hard-Working. In whatever field, those characteristics are what I believe to be the most important.

....hhmmm...this raises a lot of questions for me. If they get too personal just tell me to back of. My main question is "what made you join Forest and what did you hope to get out of it?". However it sounds like you might be a bit too impatient here. As you said some of the people here are very smart and have found a way to communicate with each other about often complex or sensitive topics that works for them. I can understand that for a newcomer it may look intimidating. However as long as you stay civilized and comply with most of the RMB rules this board is rather forgiving and you will get the hang of it. I have a habit to "go against the current" and I have been accused of "being that guy" on more than one occasion. However part of the strength of the Forest RMB is its openness towards opinions of all types and levels. So I would consider it a shame if you were to decide to leave just because you felt your opinion wouldn't be "good" enough.

Aww, there's no need to feel down. There are times when I have nothing to say, or the conversation concerns things that I don't know about, so I don't say anything. This is not a region for smart people; it's a region for everyone, as far as I'm concerned. I'd like to think that all contributions made in good faith are received well by the people who choose to be involved in the discussion at any given point, and the "smartness" of something is equivalent to word count or average number of syllables per word. Oftentimes, it's more than enough to just follow along, to affirm good ideas or posts by liking them, and to chip in if you want to. No worries! :-)

But I quite agree with you; it would be a shame if anyone left because they didn't feel "good enough." There are enough niches in the Forest for everyone, I hope.

Somewhat unrelatedly, I'd like to just briefly explain my "no" vote on the India embassy. The Thalassia embassy passed 16-1, for a total of 17 votes. That is such a low percentage of the total eligible voters, and there was hardly any discussion or public consideration of it. It seemed like we were at risk for just sort of sleepwalking into yet another embassy, and notwithstanding Octopus islands' generous offer of being the ambassador, there didn't seem to be any compelling reason to do it aside from that. In my mind (which is just my own idea), a "yes" vote should be insofar as something is obviously the best course of action, but if the gut reaction is a half-hearted "yeah, sure, why not, idk?", then it's probably better to err on the side of caution. I'm not actually opposed to an embassy with India; I just haven't really seen any great reason to go for it, either. So for now, "eh, why not?" is best translated as "eh, probably not."

I agree with you about how “eh, why not?” should be more like, “eh, probably not”, as it declutters everything (and makes my job easier), but I would like to share my reason for voting yes to India, though it may be somewhat personal:

I love Indian cultures, and so forming an embassy with a region sharing and celebrating the many cultures of India I think is a good idea. India is one of the most important (and most diverse) countries, but unfortunately many do not understand India very much. I had the pleasure of going to India last December, and it was the trip of a lifetime. We went to Delhi (including New Delhi), Jaipur, Udaipur, and Agra, and we also visited the Sri Nathji Temple in Nathdwara and the Shree Eklinji Temples outside of Udaipur.

As much as this may not apply to everyone, I think it would be great to establish and embassy with India. If anyone speaks Hindi, Gujarati, Tamil, Punjabi, or any other Indian language, and is willing to serve as ambassador, please telegram me if this vote passes. If it doesn’t, no need, and if no one speaks an Indian language, then I can try to find someone else.

New Yorushika album trailer.

You're like my own personal Google Alert for news regarding Yorushika :)

I didn't know albums had trailers...But I like what they've done with this. The sound between "track samples" is that of hitting the fast-forward button on a tape player (at least that's what I'm hearing). Gives it a fun feel, just like back in the day when you'd hear a new tape and skip around to see what's on it.

I dig the music. Some sounds like their older stuff, but a lot is significantly different. Even kind of funky at times. One sounds jazzy, even. They continue to be interesting.

I often feel rather ignoant compared to many others here but I love to surround myself with intelligent folks! Don't tell them that I said so, but many of my friends are kind of dumb.

I voted against the embassy with India for essentially the same reasons as you did. They could have made a much better case for themselves than they did (I think/hope)...

I quite agree with you on India. I telegrammed their relevant official with the results, and they said that they probably would not try again, so... *shrugs*

New rule: nobody feels ignorant or dumb or stupid or not good enough for Forest! That kind of thing is highly discouraged. You were a wonderful Forest Keeper, and we did very well with you. To me, it's much more important that someone is good and wants to do the best that they can rather than they are artful in their speech or that they know how to use a synonym tool. The longer that I go in life, the more I realize how much is out there and, by corollary, how little I know. But that isn't a reason to feel bad.

Just think: the vast majority of people don't ever get a sense that their knowledge is fragmentary at best. Dunning-Kruger is truth. So how wonderful that people kind of realize, albeit with a sense of embarrassment, that they don't know things. And if anyone doesn't have those realizations, then they are ignorant, in the end.

So feel good. Everyone should feel good, insofar as they are doing their best. :-)

Aye.

I don't remember how much I've mentioned, but the story this time isn't directly about Amy/Elma and only involves them in the form of someone trying to plagiarize from their music, which is likely the basis behind the new styles present and why a song from a prior album, "Bakudanma," is showing up again. There'll also be an associated 130-page novel if I remember correctly, which'll be one heck of a journey for the fan translators, assuming Yorushika doesn't hire translators themselves. There's also going to be another album coming out soon based on the lack of appearance of two other songs, that being the end credits for Nakineko (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_shJD_wXXfw) and a commercial for a Japanese construction company in Burma (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=q_CxRQ9bvjU).

Apparently, there was a time where n-buna, the composer for Yorushika, wrote a whole song daily, so two albums like this doesn't seem to be nearly so extreme—

*points to my stats*

Don't be hard on yourself. Nobody is born with an instant knowledge or expertise on everything; we learn it instead. You're always welcome to one of the most inclusive regions in NS -- it even says so on the WFE. Though why does it let in warmongers such as The Ascendant Hive or trash heaps such as Lord Dominator, I'll never know.

You did mention those things, but I don't mind being reminded of them. I am quite impressed by their output, their composer sounds like a machine. I bet he's an interesting person, probably worth looking more into his life.

It’s called “ethics”.

I know, I was confused as well.

Murmuria is certainly not a newcomer and has been around since long before even I arrived. :P

EDIT: I totally missed voting on the embassy poll, but yeah. India did everything perfectly fine, but we really should have had more of a conversation with ourselves about why an embassy with them would be special. And if, at the end of our conversation, we can't figure out a good reason why India would be a good embassy beyond 'why not?', then we have to say no. That shouldn't be seen as a knock on India, who I'm confident are a perfectly great region with a great community. But if all we can come up with is 'why not?', then we really won't be able to pledge to India the kind of relationship we want with our embassies. We'd be doing a disservice to India and to the meaningfulness of our embassies if we couldn't commit to anything more than 'why not?'.

Northern Wood wrote:You did mention those things, but I don't mind being reminded of them. I am quite impressed by their output, their composer sounds like a machine. I bet he's an interesting person, probably worth looking more into his life.

On that note, N-buna mentioned that he's been inspired by Henry Darger and at a separate incident got a part-time job because he wanted the bentos that would expire soon thereafter. After being forced to quit, he soaked his uniform to wash it and biked off, encountering a train station, a bridge, a tree-dense region, and finally moonlight, and these apparently inspired one of his songs.

I felt ambivalent about it and chose not to vote without more than the cursory look around that I had sufficient time for. But yes, I saw nothing that I found of particular interest at that time.

This is what attracted me in the first place. I've yet to visit India itself, but a Hindu acquaintance suggested that I go to Mumbai for a month. I plan on doing so in the next couple of years. There are a number of other places there that I'd like to visit there as well.
