The people of Britain are oppressed. We do not have the right to freedom of speech, despite supposedly being a free country. We have no freedom of thought. Everything we say, think and do is defined by what’s politically correct. And the government has no control over this. They say anything, people will moan that they are racist. It’s liberals and media who decide how we live our lives. We have a problem with immigration? Tough. We have a problem with it because taxpayers are expected to pay for them whilst they live off of benefits? Tough, you’re politically incorrect and inhuman. We have a problem with it because of the point before and the fact that many refuse to adapt? You’re racist. And, I know that there are many who try to adapt, who try to get our jobs, but there’s also many who don’t. Many of these aren’t even refugees. Many have crossed through safe and stable countries, such as France. When people point this out, people say, “Well, what if they speak English and no French?” But in reality, you are escaping a war torn country, language shouldn’t matter. Within 50 years, immigrants/muslims are predicted to be within the majority. I have no problem with people who practice Islam, though I do believe it has flaws, however, they’ll start imposing Sharia law. I don’t want to be stoned for being christian. Rant over.

Careful not to get mislead, a lot of the stuff you’re worried about is enforced by vocal minorities like Twitter which blows everything out of proportion.

Sure people get fired or taken to court for stupid reasons (like Count Dankula) but those are just the cases you hear about, I’m sure they’re not as common as you think.

We do need to make sure freedom of expression is protected and to make sure that people know that individuals can change over time and shouldn’t be permanently condemned over past actions they clearly regret.

Immigration is also a good thing for the country and most of them take low payed jobs that most native Brits don’t even want to do (like harvesting vegetables) it’s gotta be controlled obviously but I doubt it will ever become the majority, especially since the tories are aready imposing new immigration systems.

And asylum seekers are a different story, they’re here temporarily and they’re given cheap housing and low level jobs, they don’t have the right to stay here without going through the normal immigration process. We certainly shouldn’t let them drown at sea, since international law says you have to save a vessel in distress no matter what (except in war maybe I can’t remember).

I can tell you though none of these people will ever impose sharia law since it’s already opposed enough in many countries where it is used and would be very much protested against here in this very pro-LGBT and anti-sexist nation.

I used to be very vocal on Facebook and stuff because I let similar things get to me, it’s easy to drift further right but you have to be careful not to do that unless you genuinely want to. It’s easy to move back towards the centre.

You’re not a racist and you have genuine concerns many of which I sympathise with, but just be careful.

You have more danger of finding yourself in a secular/non-religious country of integrated mixed-race individuals than finding the UK under Sharia law and predominantly Muslim in 50 years.

That's what they said, though. I just repeated it. It surely is one thing to say 'I am concerned about how immigration and refugees are handled in this country' and bring up examples - which, in my opinion, show an incompetence in the governing, not the governed, but that's another thing -, it is something different to loudly and publicy proclaim Muslims want to impose Sharia law and that people will be getting stoned for following some other religion as if this was a real possibility. The former is expressing concern, the latter is fearmongering, touching on spreading hatred.

The latter is more likely being mislead by fearmongering and spread hatred. It’s very easy to be sucked into that an end up perpetrating it yourself since that’s what it’s designed to do.
