Second, this conflict should have some form of greater purpose than just resources, maybe the Federated State's driven by resources but the Ralkovian Empire would be driven by something else, maybe to show their superiority of their religion or marital prowess.

Thirdly, Economically, the Federated States would be at a disadvantage for their losses in manpower would cost more than a Ralkovian Slave Soldier would be, meaning loss of manpower for the Federated States would cost more than the Ralkovian Empire. Also, their soldiers would take longer to recruit and train, due to the Napolionic Tactics and equipment the soldiers would be wearing, whilst the Ralkovian Empire could just give a slave a sword and some armor, give them a sample of "Magic", and send them to the meat grinder that is war.

The Federated States was a nation born in and forged by many wars, it is the successor to the Second Republic. It stands poised after so many wars with a vast and ready force and a ferocious economy and a hungry industry that demands to be fed or else it will grind to halt with horrible consequences for the new country.

The Federated States of Merica, founded in 1851, now on the international scene, the balance of power began to shift, especially when close to the new nation. Equipped with new and mighty weapons forged in the heart of the Unification Wars just years prior, the Federated States sets out to spread itself and its ideals across the region, for good or ill.
The Federated States’ forces stand ready and battle-harden, it weapons more powerful and advanced than any its enemies had ever seen, and both are ready to go forth and enlighten the region by any means necessary.

The Federated States were chasing coal for its massive hungry furnaces and boilers and iron for its starving smelters and foundries. Coal and iron were so critical to the Federated States and its economy that its lust of them shaped its foreign policy. These policies rapidly became known as King Coal and Queen Iron. In the 1860s, the Federated States ran into the Grand Ralkovain Empire and these two began to compete. They both clashed over the same colonies and resources. The Federated States was massively outnumbered but not outgunned, while the Grand Ralkovian Empire seem to have an endless amount of slave soldiers to march into the meat grinder of war.

These two clashed repeatedly and often in titanic battles left thousands dead and left the landscape devastated, often catching numerous others in their callous crossfire. Damaging and destroying much in there wake with little regard for the other people and their property, these two continue to fight over valuable resources and colonies. On both land and sea, they fought and eventually even in the sky.

People, be damned. The land can burn. Towns villages cities, razed for all the care there is. In the end...
