The Vestran Journal
Nestled on the island of Shikotan, not far from the mainland of Vestra, lays the bustling city of Misuri. Known as one of the largest cities in the region, it draws in countless tourists each year with its alluring blend of cultural treasures and popular tourist destinations. But behind its shiny exterior lies a darker truth - Misuri is plagued by heavy pollution that hangs like a grey cloud over the city.
To residents, these days may seem ordinary, but to tourists, they are filled with significance as they witness the city's deep-rooted tradition of celebration and festivities. However, beneath the surface, Misuri struggles with pollution levels that exceed health standards set by Vestra. In fact, some claim that Misuri's pollution is an astonishing 24 times higher than the limit.
In response, Misuri has begun implementing strict laws and regulations aimed at reducing pollution. These include establishing Carbon Neutral zones, promoting eco-friendly modes of transportation such as bicycles and electric vehicles, and taxing manufacturers who emit high levels of carbon pollutants. The congress is currently in session, deliberating on passing these laws which are expected to be enforced by summer.
Among the recent laws passed is one that increases funding for green methods of producing electricity and supports organizations focused on reducing pollution within Vestra. It remains to be seen how effective these measures will be in combating pollution, but the council aims to decrease pollution levels by 25% this year alone - a daunting task for a city as large as Misuri. With determination and hard work, perhaps one day Misuri will breathe cleaner air once again.
