The three Dogetopian students (the ship carrying the other twelve students broke down) turn and look at the Lunarians with obvious disdain. Even though things have gotten better politically between Lunaria and Dogetopia, Dogetopians still disliked them and considered them to be a province of Dogetopia that broke away for greed, not wanting to pay their taxes and being dominated by wealthy businessmen. The claims of wanting liberty and equality rang hollow to Dogetopians because they already had those to some degree. Making things worse, Lunaria was an important refueling station, much more important than some outer rim colony that gained independence. The female Dingo literally turns away and refuses to speak with any of them, and the robot girl awkwardly holds out her hand, cautiously as if they were going to attack.
“My name is Cadet489...nice....to meet you...”
Bruce sighs and steps forwards as well, holding out his hand with less caution, but still looking displeased about interacting with Lunarians.
“Hey, I’m Bruce. It’s nice to meet all of you.”
The seagull captain swears under her breath for a moment, looking quite irritated by this, then looks up, apparently having a small glimmer of hope left.
“Do you have any interstellar travel at all?”
The Lunarians, despite the bad blood between the two countries, seem friendly enough. One of the Lunarian officers gives Bruce a fist-bump
“Special Agent Mike Patton, NIB. You ready to learn how to take on terrorists?”
He glances at the admin building
“I’m glad the Edmundians are giving us this opportunity to upskill. I’m definitely looking forward to starting training.”
The doctor shrugs
“We have a Space Force...”
A nurse comes up to the doctor
“Dr Bob! We need you at the operating theatre...”
“Coming! Coming!”
He looks to the captain
“Sorry, got to go...”
He rushes off. Meanwhile, two men in suits come up from behind and tap the Captain on the shoulder
“Hello...are you the leader of this group here?”
The dragon uses her wings to parry the burning chains, before breathing a jet of water that sends Fukami flying backwards. She swims up above him and cackles
“Oh, Fukami, you poor unfortunate soul! Do you really think you can defeat me?”
She swoops down to grab Fukami with her talons...
Bruce and the robot girl both seem to be a bit relieved that the Lunarians aren’t hostile, and both of them being pragmatic to some degree, respond in an equally friendly manner. They disliked Lunaria, but being jerks wouldn’t help them achieve their goals, and these specific ones seemed nice enough. Bruce grins.
“I can’t wait to start training either. I’m actually pretty new to law enforcement, so this will be helpful.”
The female robot beeps for a moment and then sighs.
“I was sent here for re-training because my missiles went off and blew up a street corner...I swear it was an accident though!”
Fukami quickly switches his sword from his hands to his tentacles, as the suction cups will allow for an extremely strong grip to prevent the sword from being blown away, and he focuses both hands on directing a powerful elemental attack; as the wicked dragon swoops down, sharp and dense icicles start to form, and then they suddenly are projected upwards with much force, hopefully shredding her wings. Fukami glares at her.
“Foolish witch, my daddy gave me the best magic lessons money can buy! And a cool sword!”
Agent Patton smiles at this. It was always nice to meet new friends. Besides, one never knew when a friendly contact in another foreign agency might help someday...
"Oh well, I'm sure we'll all come out of this as better officers. Do you reckon they'll put us in the same dormitory? I heard the dorm rooms here fit about 6 people each, and since there's only three of you here they might just slot you guys in with some of us..."
Bruce turns and glances at the grumpy dingo woman who had been sent with them, and he shudders slightly. She didn’t seem to be very nice. He then looks back at Patton and nods slightly.
“There are another twelve dogetopians arriving, but I heard the spacebus driver was drunk and crashed them somewhere...they’ll be here eventually though.”
The dragon swivels and folds in her wings, folding herself up into a torpedo-like shape and dodging the icicles before unfolding her limbs again
"You arrogant fool! You think your 'magic' can save you this time?"
She swoops down and grabs Fukami with her talons
"Now, I know I must truly teach you a lesson!"
With her talons wrapped around his shoulders, Ursula picks him up off the sea floor and starts moving him towards the tower...
Fukami’s shoulders being restrained would be a problem if he wasn’t an octopus person, but as is, he easily drops his weapon down so that he can grab it with a tentacle, and raises the tentacle upwards, stabbing into the talon of Ursula and grunting slightly.
“Wicked beast! Good will always overcome evil, especially when we have big paychecks to help us buy quality magical items!”
Ursula growls in pain, letting go of Fukami briefly before snagging her uninjured talon on one of his tentacles. She uses her talon to dig into the tentacle.
"You...little...you're getting no mercy this time!"
She uses her talon to flick Fukami away. As he shoots through the water, he notices that his flight trajectory is taking him straight towards some sort of portal opening...
(Can he fall through? I got a good idea for this one...)
Fukami angles himself so that he’s definitely going to hit the portal, unsure of what it is exactly, but hoping that it’ll somehow help him, preparing a spell as he falls to cast when he’s ready.
He swiftly flies into the portal, which closes up behind him. When she sees this, Belle, the princess, gasps
"Ursula, where have you sent him?"
Ursula smiles deviously
"To a place where there are no Happily Ever Afters!"
Meanwhile, Fukami falls through space for a couple of minutes. Then, his surroundings begin to brighten up, and he realises that he is falling through a brilliant blue sky. With nothing to break his fall, he slams into the ground; however, he magically survives, finding himself on some sort of hard surface. As he gets up, he finds himself in a world completely different from his own. The buildings are taller, and coated in glass. There are pictures on the buildings that are moving. Metal carriages without horses are moving backwards and forwards. He is in the heart of Sable Ferret City, Great Edmundia!
By this time, a small crowd of people have gathered around this strange octopus-man with weird armour that has fallen from the sky. Some are filming him on their phones, and some are just staring at him...
Patton nods in understanding
"I see...well, you seem like a nice person. I'm glad we'll be training together!"
Meanwhile, the Commandant of the college clears his throat
"Okay, students...we will be commencing training shortly. However, we will first need to give you our induction. If you would all follow Superintendent Fredrickson, he will take you to the Lecture Theatre, where you will fill out the rest of your paperwork and receive your introductory briefings."
Fredrickson nods
"Okay fellas, follow me."
He takes them through the administration building, into a lecture theatre. Then, he motions for the students to all take their seats, emphasising that distancing should be observed for health reasons...
The robot girl, named 0001, isn’t a biological organism, and therefore doesn’t really need to follow social distancing rules, but she does it out of respect anyway. The dingo girl would’ve normally stayed six feet away just because she doesn’t get along with others, and Bruce hops along after them. 0001 beeps for a moment. They all take their seats next to one another, and 0001 leans back in her seat, looking intent.
Fukami has no experience with the surface world in his own planet, and therefore just assumes he’s on his own planet still, causing him to instinctively want to go to the ocean to go back to his own kingdom. He stands up and dusts himself off with his tentacles, then looks over at the crowd of people. He frowns as he looks at them, as they don’t have any tentacles.
“...”
The people don't really get in his way; they don't even know who he is, or what he is doing, and are not sure if he is going to be hostile. Then, police sirens are heard. A patrol car rolls up on scene, lights and sirens flashing, and two officers emerge. One notices the sword and radioes for backup while the other points a taser at Fukami and addresses him
"Sir, I need you to drop the weapon, now!"
Fukami glances at the officer and frowns, as he doesn’t recognize the taser as actually being a weapon, having no experience with them at all.
“...No, this sword is quite special and very valuable. I shan’t be getting rid of it.”
How long have I been in a coma? How did the war with J o J pan out? What's happened in the past however long since I completely forgot this game existed?
The officer keeps his taser pointed at Fukami
“Look, sir, we can do this the easy way, or the hard way. You drop the weapon and cooperate, and we can all go home. If you don’t, we will have to take you in by force.”
Oof...the war sort of petered out after a while
The superintendent waits until everybody has found their seats in the lecture theatre before addressing them.
"Okay fellas, before we start, we will play a short introductory video, so you get the gist of what we are all about here at the College."
He flicks a remote, and the projector screen behind him lights up, before the video starts playing. It's about 5 minutes long, and gives an overall brief description of what life at the College will be like, including the wakeup call at 6am every morning, breakfast at 7am, lunch at 12:30pm, dinner at 6pm and lights out at 9pm. It also goes through a couple of basic rules about housekeeping and cleanliness, including the need to keep dormitories clean, punctuality to classes and mealtimes, and so on. It also reaffirms the College's strong anti-bullying stance; as per government policy, any instances of bullying can be reported anonymously via online survey, and staff members will also be on hand to tackle harassment.
Fukami drops his sword, but looks extremely annoyed by the police officers.
“It’s a family heirloom and it’s magically enchanted. If I don’t get it back eventually, I’ll be sure to raise a complaint. Besides, you’re also walking around with weapons, aren’t you? Bloody hypocrites.”
0001 wonders what kind of person would try to bully others at a police academy for presumably adults, as that would indicate a lack of maturity that should’ve been stamped out ages ago. She is, however, glad to hear that she won’t be bullied by others, and her missile launchers twitch slightly in excitement for the upcoming school year. Bruce the kangaroo glances around, slightly distracted, as he keeps expecting the other Dogetopian students to arrive at any moment now, but they never did appear, much to his disappointment. The female Dingo has an expressionless face the entire time, leaning back in her chair. She raises her hand.
“Uh, aren’t we all a little bit too old for bullying anyways? Is that even an issue here?”
The officers take the sword and move it away from Fukami. Meanwhile, one of them addresses him
"We've heard reports you fell from the sky. Do you require any medical attention? Do you have any injuries?"
