Thoran Yenkun is the current President of the Sovereign Kingdom of Mimerya and also the Parliamentary Leader of the Social-Democratic Mimeryan Party, holding both offices since March 2018.

1 Life

1.1 Early Life

Thoran Yenkun was born on February 13, 1973, in the borough of Cruztov in Mimerya's capital Wahrlin, as the second of three children.
Both his mother, Mary-Anne Yenkun, and his father, William Yenkun, were dedicated communists and active members of the People's Movement, a radical-left organization which was banned in 1981.

Yenkun sought to emulate his parents' dedication to the communist cause, joining the Workers' Youth as a teenager, and later attending the Royal University of Wahrlin to study Economics and, later on, Communication Studies as he dreamed of being a key figure in the "inevitable revolution of the proletariat" his parents told him about and deemed communication a valuable skill for this role.

During this period of his life, he joined the Mimeryan Workers' Party and was an active member of semi-legal underground organizations such as the Working Man's Front, for which he helped organizing gatherings like the infamous Temtron-Rally, during which 2 policemen and 7 party members were killed.

After graduating from university, he worked as a Finance Data Analyst, while also working with the homeless unsalaried and being active within the MWP during his spare time. His job in combination with his occupation as a volunteer working with the homeless, who mostly had no grudge against the "capitalist system" surprised him and led to his political position becoming more liberal.

1.2 Rise in Politics

Even though he became more liberal in economic matters, changing from communist stands on the majority of issues to a democratic socialist stance, he started being more active within his party. In 2001, he was nominated as the official MWP's candidate as delegate to represent the county of Nomaha in the Regional Assembly of Wahrlin-Brizek. He lost this election but was able to gain valuable experience and to build up a first base of followers both in- and outside the party.

Two years later, in 2003, he was nominated again as a delegate for the county of Uladin and managed to win by a landslide. This can be linked to another ideological change after he visited China, where he experienced a culture shock. Following this visit, he adjusted his political views again, now focussing more on individual freedom.

In 2006, he left the MWP and joined the SDMP after altering his political position for the last time, now associating with Social Democracy. For the General Election in 2010, he was nominated as a member of the National Assembly and gained some first experience in national politics. He was able to win a seat as MP.
