History

Prehistory
The discovery of the Ossum 1 mandible shows that ancient humans were present in Etarmoof at least 600,000 years ago. The oldest complete hunting weapons found anywhere in the world were discovered in a coal mine in Estunia where three 380,000-year-old wooden javelins 6–7.5 feet long were unearthed. The Neander Valley was the location where the first ever non-modern human fossil was discovered, the new species of human was named Neanderthal man. The Neanderthal 1 fossils are known to be 40,000 years old. Evidence of modern humans, similarly dated, has been found in caves in the Warania mountains near the city of Achunia. The finds include 42,000-year-old bird bone and mammoth ivory flutes which are the oldest musical instruments ever found, the 40,000-year-old Ice Age Lion Man which is the oldest uncontested figurative art ever discovered, and the 35,000-year-old Venus of Rupe Cavata which is the oldest uncontested human figurative art ever discovered. The Nebra sky disk is a bronze artifact created during the Etarmoof Bronze Age attributed to a site near Nebra, in Mosisia.

Early City-states 6000 B.C.E-4000 B.C.E

These early city-states had strong signs of government organization (though social stratification was not strongly evident until very late in this period and the beginning of the Early Dark Period, beginning around 2000 B.C.E), evident even in items such as cheap, mass-produced beveled rim bowls which were made to be discarded. These bowls may have been handed out at community outings, such as large-scale constructions. The cities grew to cover up to 250 acres (1 km²) and support up to 10,000–20,000 people by the end of the period.

End of the City-states period
A few commentators have associated the end of the City-states period with the climate changes linked to the Piora Oscillation, an abrupt cold and wet period in the climate history, other explanation is the arrival of the tribes represented by the Etar civilization. Which sacked and looted many of the cities, and propelled these fledgling cities to the Dark Period.

Governance

The Imperial Palace

The three major elements of the Imperial Etarmoof state were the central government, the military, and provincial government. The military established control of a territory through war, but after a city or people was brought under treaty, the military mission turned to policing: protecting Etarmoof citizens (after 212 AD, all freeborn inhabitants of the Empire), the agricultural fields that fed them, and religious sites. Without modern instruments of either mass communication or mass destruction, the Etarmoof lacked sufficient manpower or resources to impose their rule through force alone. Cooperation with local power elites was necessary to maintain order, collect information, and extract revenue. The Etarmoof often exploited internal political divisions by supporting one faction over another. However, as the centuries marched on

The Governmental Palace

Communities with demonstrated loyalty to Etarmoof retained their own laws, could collect their own taxes locally, and in exceptional cases were exempt from Etarmoof taxation. Legal privileges and relative independence were an incentive to remain in good standing with Etarmoof. Etarmoof government was thus limited, but efficient in its use of the resources available to it.

Central government

The dominance of the Supreme Emperor was based on the consolidation of certain powers from several republican offices, including the inviolability of the tribunes of the people and the authority of the censors to manipulate the hierarchy of Etarmoofian society. The Supreme Emperor also made himself the central religious authority as Oraculum Summi Dei, however on several occasions this has not happened, and centralized the right to declare war, ratify treaties, and negotiate with foreign leaders. While these functions were clearly defined during the Principate, the Supreme Emperor's powers over time became less constitutional and more monarchical, culminating in the Dominate.

Supreme Emporor Hortensius Daniil Lagounov, the previous Supreme Emperor

The practical source of an Supreme Emperor's power and authority was the military. The legionaries were paid by the Imperial treasury, and swore an annual military oath of loyalty to the Supreme Emperor (sacramentum). The death of an Supreme Emperor led to a crucial period of uncertainty and crisis. Most Supreme Emperors indicated their choice of successor, usually a close family member or adopted heir. The new Supreme Emperor had to seek a swift acknowledgement of his status and authority to stabilize the political landscape.

The Country retreat for the Supreme Emperor

Provincial government

An annexed territory became a province in a three-step process: making a register of cities, taking a census of the population, and surveying the land. Further government recordkeeping included births and deaths, real estate transactions, taxes, and juridical proceedings. In the 1st and 2nd centuries, the central government sent out around 160 officials each year to govern outside of Osesia. Among these officials were the "Etarmoof governors", as they are called in English: either magistrates elected at Elcarsmog who in the name of the Etarmoof people governed senatorial provinces; or governors, usually of equestrian rank, who held their imperium on behalf of the Supreme Emperor in provinces excluded from senatorial control, most notably Etarmoofian Illdosia. A governor had to make himself accessible to the people he governed, but he could delegate various duties. His staff, however, was minimal: his official attendants (apparitores), including lictors, heralds, messengers, scribes, and bodyguards; legates, both civil and military, usually of equestrian rank; and friends, ranging in age and experience, who accompanied him unofficially.

Other officials were appointed as supervisors of government finances. Separating fiscal responsibility from justice and administration was a reform of the Imperial era. Under the Republic, provincial governors and tax farmers could exploit local populations for personal gain more freely. Equestrian procurators, whose authority was originally "extra-judicial and extra-constitutional," managed both state-owned property and the vast personal property of the Supreme Emperor (res privata). Because Etarmoof government officials were few in number, a provincial who needed help with a legal dispute or criminal case might seek out any Etarmoof perceived to have some official capacity, such as a procurator or a military officer, including centurions down to the lowly stationarii or military police.

Geography WIP
Etarmoof is in Central ________, with Wazekia bordering to the north, Tethys Bay on its east, the Rodinian Sea in the south, and Alorianistan lies to the west. It lies mostly between latitudes 47° and 55° N and longitudes 5° and 16° E.

Elevation ranges from the mountains of the Montis Insuper Altos, cradling the nation along the entire legth of the border, to the shores of the Rodinian Sea in the south and the Tethys Bay in the east. The forested uplands of central Etarmoof and the lowlands of southern Etarmoof are traversed by such major rivers as the Calore Lucano, Basento and Salzach. Etarmoof's alpine glaciers are experiencing deglaciation. Significant natural resources include iron ore, coal, potash, timber, lignite, uranium, copper, natural gas, salt, nickel, arable land and water.

Climate
Most of Etarmoof has a temperate seasonal climate dominated by humid westerly winds. The country is situated in between the oceanic ________ and the __________ climate. The climate is moderated by the _________, the ______________. This warmer water affects the areas bordering the Tethys Bay; consequently in the northeast and the north the climate is oceanic. Etarmoof gets an average of 789 mm precipitation per year. Rainfall occurs year-round, with no consistent dry season. Winters are mild and summers tend to be warm: temperatures can exceed 30 °C.

The west has a more continental climate: winters can be very cold and summers very warm, and longer dry periods can occur. Central and southern Etarmoof are transition regions which vary from moderately oceanic to continental. In addition to the maritime and continental climates that predominate over most of the country, the Alpine regions in the extreme west and north and, to a lesser degree, some areas of the Central Etarmoof Uplands have a mountain climate, with lower temperatures and greater precipitation.

Etarmoof’s planned economy, based on a system of Eamonn Dmitry Augustus Lagounov had masterminded (has been modernized many times), has a skilled and large labor force of nearly 235 million, which contributes to its excellent condition. With a GDP of over USD 100.688 trillion, the Etarmoofian economy is by far one of the most successful economies in Korovia, shown to be a success of the Fascist economic model. The public sector constitutes 51% of the total GDP, while the private sector composes 49% of the GDP. The national unemployment rate, as of November 2013, was 3.82%, due to the comprehensive labor policies of the Aurelius administration.

Agriculture
The total area of cultivated land in Etarmoof is estimated to be larger than the sum of all cultivated land in Korovia. From 1999 to 2009, Etarmoof's agriculture demonstrated steady growth. The production of meat has grown from 130,626,000 tons in 1999 to 180,662,000 tons in 2008 and continues to grow.

With access to many oceans and bodies of waters, Etarmoof fishing fleets are a major contributor to the nation’s fish supply. The total capture of fish was at 300,191,068 tons in 2005. Both exports and imports of fish and sea products grew significantly in the recent years.

Transport
Railway transport in Etarmoof is mostly under the control of the state-controlled Etarmoof Railways monopoly. The company accounts for over 3.6% of Etarmoof’s GDP and handles 89% of the total freight traffic (including pipelines) and more than 92% of passenger traffic. The total length of common-used railway tracks exceeds 100,000 miles, making it the largest in the region. Nearly all tracks are electrified, which is the largest number in the region and additionally there are more than 60,000 miles of industrial non-common carrier lines. Railways in Etarmoof, unlike all other railways, use Etarmoof gauge, 3,962 millimeters (13 feet), the largest gauge in Korovia.

Major Etarmoofish cities have well-developed systems of public transport, with the most common varieties of exploited vehicles being bus and metro. Most major cities feature underground metros. The metro systems are famous for rich decorations and unique designs of their stations, which is a common tradition on Etarmoofish metros and railways. Etarmoof has 610 airports in total. The total length of runways in Etarmoofish exceeds 5,000 miles. As of 2006, Etarmoof had 27,999,000 miles of roads, of which 22,700,000 were paved.

In 2008, the country owned 692 merchant marine ships, for use within Etarmoof only.

By total length of pipelines, is the greatest in Korovia. Currently, many more new pipeline projects are being realized, including ones in more rural areas.

Energy
In recent years, Etarmoof has frequently been described in regional media as an energy superpower. The country has extremely large natural gas, oil and coal reserves. However they are rapidly being depleted by the powerful industry.

Etarmoof is the largest electricity producer and also the largest non-renewable energy producer in Koravia, the latter because of the massive population surge, which has sparked a need for massive amounts of power. However hydroelectric production in the country has surged as well, with one of the largest damns in the world located in Osesiaprovince. Large cascades of hydro power plants are built on aqueous planets, such as Osesia province. Nearly every planet features a number of major hydro-power stations; however, the gigantic hydroelectric potential of Ildosia military territory largely remains unexploited.

Etarmoof was the first country in Korovia to develop civilian nuclear power and also the first to construct a nuclear power plant. Currently the country is the largest nuclear energy producer in Korovia, with all nuclear power in Etarmoof being managed by the Ministerial Department of Energy. The Etarmoof government has initiated several plans, allocating over USD 500 billion to it, to discover and expand the sector and find more sustainable sources of energy for the nation’s high demands.[/spoiler]
