Political system in Infiny

The Imperial Federation maintains a trias politica. Its executive is de jure the Imperial Monarch of Infiny (Cisar), which is currently Empress Valeria II of the Imperial House of Makonnen (Cisara Valeria II). Despite the monarch being head of state, the head of government is the de facto real executive. In the Imperial Federation, this role is played by the Prime Minister. The Prime Minister is often the leader of the largest party in the Council of Representatives (Rada Cilanas). The monach formally appoints the prime minister and his or her cabinet, although this is often a mere formality.

The current Prime Minister (Premièra Raysúla) is Lena Cyseia (USP - GA), who leads a Federal Cabinet(Skirin Federatsiyayú). Although the monarch is not prohibited from joining political parties, it is customary to stay nonpartisan. The Imperial Sovereign is chosen by the Federal Convention (Conventiya Federatsiyáya), which consists of members of the Senate (Rada Visoqa) and appointed State Delegates (Uspey). The term Uspey is derrived from the old position of military governor in Infinian borderlands, but has taken on new meaning since the creation of the Imperial Federation. Every six years, these two parts of the Federal Convention formally elect the monarch of Infiny.

Whenever a previous monarch dies or is deposed by a motion of no-confidence from within both houses of the Sobiraniya (2/3rd majority in the Senate), a session of the Federal Convention immediately follows. The Senate nominates five candidates as the next Emperor. These are then voted upon by the Infinian Electorate. It is customary for candidates who do not have the majority of the vote to drop out before the start of the Federal Convention, but if they remain in the race, the Convention takes place. A candidate will become Emperor at the convention when all Uspey vote in favor of them. The candiates are discussed in the order of amounts of votes they achieved during the popular phase of the General Convention.

Currently, the title of the Empress is as follows (in English);

Her Imperial Majesty Valeria, by the grace of the Goddess and the many stars which shine upon the Infinite Realm, Empress of Infinia and her Federal States, elected by the chosen, Guardian of Justice, Lady of Zanzibar.

The legislative consists of the Council of Representatives and the High Council (Rada Visoqa), together forming the Parliament (Sobiraniya). The Infinian Parliament is among the oldest continuous democratic institutions known in the world, the earliest version of it dating back to the 9th century CE. The Council of Representatives is directly chosen by the Infinian electorate aged 18 or over. Elections for members of this council are held every 4 years unless in the extremely rare case that the council is dissolved by the Imperial Monarch at the request of the Prime Minister. In case a motion of no-confidence is called, all members serving in that session of the Council are entitled to voting in the Federal Convention. Following the 2019 special elections, the division of the 560 seats in the Council of Representatives is shown on the left, and the division of the 100 High Council seats on the right;

Currently, the Imperial Federation is governed by a coalition of the SHI, the USP, and the PNP, controlling 326 seats in the Rada Cilanas and 53 seats in the Rada Visoqa. It is the most left-wing government ever elected in Infiny, spearheading reforms around social issues, ecological preservation and economic equality.

The High Council is indirectly chosen through state elections. Every 4 years, a fourth of the total numbers of Senators is up for election. Officially, Senators are appointed by their state legislatures, comprised of the state's Governor and his or her State Cabinet (Skirin Dravayú). Nonetheless, when the time has come for the (re)appointment of a Senator, the Valson (Governor) holds a so-called delegatory referendum, which influences the person chosen to represent the state. The governors are leaders of the largest party in the State Assembly(Sobiraniya Dravaya). The State Assembly is elected every 2 years. Each state sends 4 Senators.

The justices of the Federal Constitutional Court (Sud Federatsiyayu Constitutionalyu) appointed by the Imperial Monarch, but nominees must first be approved by a majority in both the Council of Representatives and the High Council. Justices of this court are usually to serve for life, or until they either resign or are impeached. In the State Constitutional Court (Sud Dravayu Constituionalyu), justices are appointed by the Governor, with the consent of the State Assembly. State Justices serve single, 6-year terms. The Governor can then choose whether he wants to reappoint this judge or appoint another, but once again, approval from the State Assembly is necessary.

The Emirate of Zanzibar is associated in Union with the Imperial Federation, following a long history of diplomatic unity between the two realms. It has its own emirate legislature, and can only federally influence the Council of Representatives due to not being a Federal State. The executive is the Emir or Emira of Zanzibar, currently Emira Tahlela II, who is constitutionally loyal to Empress Valeria I. However, the Zanzibari executive is de facto the Zanzibari Regional Prime Minister (Rais wa Zanzibar), which is currently Ljuba Ryrua (PLI - ZA). The state also maintains its own regional court, which nevertheless cannot clash with Federal law. Zanzibar is also excluded from the Federal Convention.
