Saint Clair Confederal Lawkeepers
The Saint Clair Confederal Lawkeepers (SCCL) serve much the same role as the Michigan State Police or the Canadian Mounties did before the War. In times of peace, they operate as the Confederation's national police force, collaborating with local settlement militias and bounty hunters on rooting out bandit and raider groups in addition to more traditional criminal threats like the New Purple Gang and the Blood Coats.Meanwhile in the rare times that the Confederation finds itself at war, the Lawkeepers serve as an auxiliary light infantry force to the Confederal Army and Navy, similar to the National Militia Force or the Picket Company. Oftentimes its members are former servicemen and women, mostly hailing from Warren or Chatham. As of current, the SCCL has around five hundred active-duty officers and nearly eight hundred deputies, with roughly a thousand of each in reserve in case of emergencies.
