The Ardagan Compendium |
The Ardagan Compendium Table of Contents 1. History - Before Space Flight - Stellar Colonisation - Interstellar Age 3. Demographics - Population - Races 4. Government - Military 5. Maps The Ardagan Compendium began in the Ardagan system on the planet Erene. Erene is the ancestral home of humanity, the anthros, elves, and several smaller races. Erene was created approximately 4.5 billion years ago from a circumstellar disk of gas, ice, rock, and dust. Out of this circumstellar disk formed the rest of the planets and moons of the Ardagan system. Erene remained inhospitable to life for the first 400 million years until the planet, until then a molten and volcanic world, cooled and let the first primitive forms of life survive. Intelligent life on Erene began 3 million years ago, when the ancestors of the modern Ardagan Compendium's races first walked. These gave rise to the present-day races: modern humans 200 thousand years ago, modern anthros 740 thousand years ago, and modern elves 15 thousand years ago. The dawn of civilisation began 7 thousand years ago and an explosion of technological advancement proceeded, accelerating greatly after the 1700s. The first foray of Erenites into space occurred on 1951 when Wuloosya, a nation that once existed on Erene, sent Deoxey I into space, the first of Erene's artificial satellites. It only survived in orbit for 91 days before crashing back down but the achievement is still taught proudly across the Compendium as the first juvenile attempts to explore beyond Erene. The first intelligent being into space was sent by Daesun, a former nation that once existed on Erene's Kianzhou, in 1961 and was swiftly followed by the first landing on Dupont, sent by Vesuprias, a nation named after the continent of the same, in 1969. Following the landing on Dupont, the forays of man into space slowed and most space activity revolved around commercial and military satellites, owing to the inefficiency of engines making escaping Erene's gravity costly. As technology progressed to making asteroid mining economically viable, it was decided by a collection of companies and nations that setting up a permanent base on Dupont to house resources would be the best way forwards. So, with enormous effort and cost, the project was completed in 2080, creating a rudimentary spaceport from which mining vessels could bring back resources, get repairs, and repeat while much larger and heavier rockets could come and go from Erene every so often, bringing in critical supplies and taking back an abundance of materials. With the seemingly limitless resource promised by asteroid mining ventures, Erene set its sights on Mastodon, the neighbouring planet, which had remained cold and dead, without an atmosphere, and the logical next step for Erene to expand. The initial colonisation of this barren world began in 2100, a mere 20 years after the construction of Dupont's spaceport and, like Dupont's, was primitive: many flat clearings for landing of rockets far away from core infrastructure; plants to process carbon dioxide from the atmosphere into methane fuel and oxygen; massive arrays of solar panels and small nuclear fission reactors for electricity; underground living quarters shielding the unfortunate first few souls from radiation. Overall, the first people to inhabit other worlds were miserable. But they were the pioneers, and Erene was on the brink of a new era of space exploration and colonisation, the likes of which people could not have imagined at the time. In 2220, a physicist named Christine Kangaloo discovered charged particles traveling along a gravitational slipstream between Ardagan and the Toliman system. This discovery was capitalised quickly by teams of engineers across Erene who succeeded in creating a device that allowed small objects to travel along the slipstream at speeds faster than light. The Christine Device, as these first prototypes came to be known, became the bases of all hyperdrive systems today, allowing spaceships to travel between linked star systems. The discovery of the first gravitational slipstream was swiftly followed by the discovery of another, to M13, which was swiftly renamed to New Ardagan owing to the existence of three Erene sized habitable planets. Explorers and adventurers began exploring beyond these systems as well charting out a local slipstream map, but many simply perished and were never heard from again, either from unreliable hyperdrives or from going beyond the ranges they could carry fuel for and return. Nevertheless, within 30 years, the first pioneering corporations began exploring the Toliman system with the aim of making it an economically viable enterprise for shareholders, who had been promised unimaginable wealth if they succeeded. These corporations began creating the first large scale hyperdrives, many of which failed, often catastrophically, but those that succeeded began setting up outposts and private spaceports in the Toliman system and harvesting the resources. At the same time, the first settlers landed on the planets in New Ardagan, naming each one after the remarkable features of it. The first was named Bluewater, owing to its planet wide ocean and many archipelagos where the settlers landed. The second was called Gemstone, after the abundance of gemstones naturally present. And the third was named New Llyndorra, after a nation that once existed on Erene, and as a cheeky reference by the Llyndorran settlers to Llyndorra's famously terrible weather as the planet had frequent rain and overcast weather year round. Over the next several centuries, the difficulty of being able travel further afield with inefficient engines had prevented further expansion but the two sisters systems of Ardagan grew. In Toliman, many small corporations had established themselves initially with relatively little oversight from the governments on Erene, which were content to allow these corporations to extract wealth in return for the taxes they generated. The competition between these corporations was ruthless. Many were bankrupted by their craftier rivals while others was sabotaged and driven off. The larger players fought brutal wars, collectively called the Corporate Conflicts. Corporate spaceships armed with nuclear equipped torpedos devastated their rival's commercial vessels while the spaceports and living quarters, as the tides turned, were captured without a fight owing to the impossibility of resisting orbital bombardment. Eventually in 2513, Erene, which had since unified to a single planet wide government in the face of its diminishing status as the other two systems ascended, did step in and force the belligerent companys to cease under the threat of a planet wide boycott and to agree to a new arrangement: war in Toliman would be completely outlawed, all disputes must be handled through Erene courts, a new spate of laws would regulate commercial activity in Toliman, any belligerent companies refusing peace would be dissolved and forced to surrender their assets, the Ardagan Navy, established some decades ago by unifying the navies of its former nations, would be empowered to enforce these laws, and corporations operating in Toliman had to pay more in taxation to fund the navy. This arrangement would keep the peace and return Toliman to a more civilised era of competition. One corporation, the Combined Manufacturing Company, rose in prominence through shrewd business tactics and mergers with other companies before it eventually took over most businesses in Toliman and forcing the rest to exist under its corporate umbrella. The Combined Manufacturing Company, which still effectively owns the Toliman system to this day, formed and still does form the backbone of the Ardagan Compendium's economy, produces half of the civilian freighter ships used, the majority of the components needed for shipyards. The Combined Manufacturing Company would be responsible for the majority of technological advancement in the centuries to come. In the 2550s, they began the first terraforming experiment. After evacuating Maker, a barren planet in the Toliman system but one with relatively conducive conditions such as polar ice caps and a magnetic field, they bombarded it with ice rich asteroids to introduce more water and engineered flourocarbons to heat up the planet to allow liquid water. They then introduced genetically modified organisms to produce oxygen in the atmosphere. This process took nearly four centuries and succeeded in creating the only habitable planet in the Toliman system, where the majority of the Combined Manufacturing Company's employees reside today, and in creating the only terraformed planet part of the Ardagan Compendium's parliament. While the terraforming experiment was under way, this company would, in the 2650s, produce a special repulsor engine, letting spaceships take off from gravitational wells i.e. planets with much less fuel use, making substantially larger ships possible. Just a few decades later and they would perfect the ion engine, allowing much greater fuel efficiency and contributing greatly to the booming Compendium's economy and allowing travel much further afield. These advancements allowed the Combined Manufacturing Company, ever eager to expand and capitalise on a new sector, to see an opportunity to dominate the fuel market in the Ardagan Compendium. Utilising the new technologies they invented, they realised that a nearby system rich in gas giants would be economically viable to harvest fuel for. This system, renamed by the corporation to the utilitarian "Fuel Field", was first charted out centuries ago by pioneering explorers but had remained of little importance until recent technological advancements. Ever inventive, the company designed large refineries, to orbit each gas giant, and designed automated drones which would enter a gas giant's atmosphere, scoop up a few hundred kilograms of hydrogen gas, and fly back depositing the yield for purification. The first step by the company was to create the components in Toliman and load them onto freighters which were to deposit them at a certain distance from the gas giants. The first freighter squadron arrived and emptied their loads while specialised spacecraft, mostly automated but with people standing by to handle trickier and finer movements, cold welded, bolted, screwed, and locked the pieces together to form the individual modules. This laborious process, taking a decade of concentrated effort to complete, eventually succeeded in creating the first of the planned refineries. Another few decades and all three gas giants had these large scale refineries completed drones going to and fro providing the hydrogen needed to make fuel. However, parliament had realised the threat of growing company power in the fuel market would pose to the delicate balance that had been devised in the Compendium and, for once breaking with the norm of letting the company operate with minimal intervention, stepled in and enacted price controls on company fuel to keep existing fuel suppliers, operating out of Ardagan and its gas giant, Titan, solvent and prevent the Compendium and its navy from being in hock to the company. Meanwhile, in New Ardagan, the population boomed across the centuries. Each planet eventually formed their own planetary governments and operated, as in the case of Toliman, independently from Erene and Ardagan. In Bluewater, the population grew substantially very quickly as the ideal resort for the very wealthy to escape Erene. The warm weather, picturesque islands and beaches, and plentiful flora gave it the unofficial name "Paradise Planet". As the haves moved in, a stream of have-nots followed to work in the planet's service sector which was built from the ground up to cater for the rich. The wealth did redistribute itself naturally under such an arrangement as the service sector workers, realising that the wealthy could not go without them, unionised and succeeded in pushing up their standards of living over time. However, both the wealthy and the unions agreed that immigration to the planet ought to be restricted, each for their own reasons. The wealthy wanted to keep the paradise planet to themselves, without anymore riff raff, while the unions wanted to keep the supply of labour controlled. This arrangement has generally stayed stable over the centuries to the present day. As such, it remains trivial to visit Bluewater and even easier to spend money, but notoriously difficult to immigrate for work and a better life, unless, of course, you happen to be wealthy. In Gemstone, things developed quickly into an Erene-like system. New settlers found it easier to immigrate to Gemstone for work than Bluewater and much more pleasant to live in than New Llyndorra. Industry, service, agriculture, and consumption took off and made it the economic, agricultural, and industrial powerhouse of New Ardaga. The government, operating much like Erene's old government with autonomous zones, welcomes immigrants relatively easily if they can find a sponsor for work and has a robust safety net that protects those out of employment according to their previous income. The culture, owing to the abundance of diamonds, emeralds, rubies, and the like, would look to someone from Erene as one of incredibly gaudy extravagance, with clothes often having them sewed in and homes decorated with large showpieces, but to a lifelong inhabitant of Gemstone, it's simply normal. In New Llyndorra, the most unfortunate of the three planets, new settlers arrived slowly. The climate being so dismal did not make it a welcome place to many from Erene. As Bluewater become increasingly shut off to new people and Gemstone became less affordable to those looking to escape the squalor of Erene, New Llyndorra slowly went from the planet people moved to escape "the man" to the planet people moved to start afresh. The population still grew slowly and the planet depended on subsidies from Erene to get its critical infrastructure setup but, over the centuries, it did become self-sufficient. Given its position between the other two planets, New Llyndorra remains extremely open and accessible to anyone looking to immigrate with land and homes cheap or given out for free by the planetary authorities to entice people to setup their lives and provide value to the often forgotten world. The de facto independence of these three planets came to an end when Ardagan, in the mid-2500s, forced each one to agree to a new arrangement where they would cede some governance and some of their revenues to Erene in exchange for protection by the Ardagan Navy and representation in the Ardagan Compendium's parliament, which was resented by all three even if they understood that they had no choice in the matter. The majority of the inhabitants of the Ardagan Compendium reside on Erene in the Ardagan system, the ancestral home planet and system of the civilisation. Erene is a massive urban sprawl, composed of a few continent spanning cities. The planet is home to 20 billion, by far the most populated planet anywhere in the Ardagan Compendium. The cities are, mostly, overcrowded and unsafe, with crime rife. Many seek escape to the other systems for a better life while those from Toliman or New Ardagan come to Erene as a pilgrimage to the cradle of their civilisation. Dupont, the only moon of Erene is home to a smaller number of inhabitants. Dupont is 27% smaller than Erene and has a rather barren surface. Mastodon is the only other inhabited planet aside from Erene in the Ardagan system but has even less residents than Dupont and does not qualify for representation. It is currently undergoing terraforming projects using far less destructive methods than the Combined Manufacturing Company had used on Maker: large global warming facilities have been constructed to thicken the atmosphere and melt the ice caps and bio-engineered bacteria and soil to propagate oxygen onto the planet are being slowly introduced. Eventually, Mastodon will enjoys an atmosphere and oxygen levels similar to that of Erene with freshwater oceans and rivers helping to sustain the expected population boom. Currently, the majority of Mastodon remains a harsh desert with powerful sandstorms and barren landscapes. Mastodon is also 0.93 times the size of Erene with a gravity of only 92% compared to Erene. New Ardagan is home to 10 billion which is split 20:60:20 between Bluewater, Gemstone, and New Llyndorra. Bluewater is an island world; a massive planet wide ocean covers the majority of its surface while dotted islands of varying sizes break up the monotonous light blue water. From the perspective of an inhabitant of Erene, the planet is a perfect tropical paradise and a favourite tourist destination of the extremely wealthy. As the closest of the three habitable planets, it is also the warmest with a climate generally resembling that of Vespurias back on Erene. Gemstone is in the middle of the habitable zone and resembles Erene in several ways: it has multiple continents, oceans, and islands, and a similarly varying climate. However it differs in its plate tectonics. Having more of them, it has many awesome peaks and mountain ranges and a spectacular abundance of gemstones. It is by far the most important and productive of the three New Ardagan planets. New Llyndorra is the furthest habitable planet and is the only one named after a former nation on Erene. As the furthest, its climate much more gloomy, rainy, and miserable, similar to that of its eponymous historical state. Due to it being much more wet, the prospect of settling on it was much less appealing and it is generally the main destination of Erene's urban poor who could afford to escape. Aside from that, it is similar to Gemstone in its composition but lacks its wonderful mountains and abundance of jewels. Toliman is the most sparsely inhabited system despite being the most productive. The majority of the population reside on Maker, the only habitable planet and the only planet in the Ardagan Compendium to have been terraformed. Maker is a cold planet with a gravity slightly stronger than Erene. Despite the generally poor living standards and uncomfortable gravity and temperature, it sees no shortage of new inhabitants from Erene looking to better their financial situation. While most live on Maker, some live on specially built units on moons or space stations. The total population of the entire system is about one billion. The largest race in the Ardagan Compendium are humans who form 73% of the population. They are bipedal mammals with two sexes and vary significantly in size and hair, eye, and skin colour. Anthros are the second largest race at 19% of the population and are composed of two species: the Rukati and the Thromm. The Rukati and Thromm are both cervids and so resemble deers. The Rukati are the older of the two and the ancestors of the Thromm. Anthros generally are similar in appearance and distinguish each other by smell and sound. They can grow up to 8 feet tall. Elves are the third largest race at 4% and, in all aspects except their ears, are identical to humans. Their ears, their distinguishing characteristic, is noticeably pointy in appearance, longer in length, and larger generally than a human's. There are several smaller races indigenous to the Ardagan compendium in addition to the above three but these form much smaller percentages of the population. The government of the Ardagan Compendium is a parliamentary system. The system evolved from early Erene international bodies composed of representatives of nations that once existed. Over time, the significance of Erene diminished as Toliman and New Ardagan grew in population and prosperity. The parliament eventually extended representation to the inhabited worlds of New Ardagan and Maker in Toliman. Each planet elects a certain number of representatives based off its population and being given the autonomy to decide how to divide up its share of the seats. Erene is unique in dividing it by zones to allow representatives of different cultures and races while the other planets elect on a planet wide basis. The navy of the Ardagan Compendium is the Ardagan Navy which is tasked with defending the Compendium from pirates, dissidents, and any potential alien threat. The main garrison of the navy is Ardagan while smaller detachments police New Ardaga. Toliman is policed by the Combined Manufacturing Company which, while technically a violation of the Compendium's law on Toliman, is tolerated to prevent the Navy from being stretched thin. The current make up of the navy is as follows: 1 Battlecruiser

The legislation spans a wide range of topics from tax reform to education to infrastructure. The One World, One Party Stance It is believed that dissent under Maddren II would lead to the culmination of reforms under Cardinal Gen. Titus Orhan, who, while mandating that all members of the Chamber of Nations be members of the National Unity Party, permitted “working coalitions” to form within them based around shared ideas and needs, thereby transforming the Chamber of Nations into a local bargaining ground. The Murmiddon League |
The Murmiddon League The Murmiddon League is an alliance of 159 independent states situated on the planet Murmiddon, with each member of the league claiming sovereignty and self-governance but possessing diplomatic and economic unity with the rest of the league. Membership in the league is planetarily locked and new nations must have majority recognition to be accepted. The league is structured around the Organs of Peace and the Edeneraad. The population of the league is 8.2718 billion humans solely on the planet Murmiddon, though league members do have temporary economic colonies on the three other rocky planets and gas giant of the system. Lanikaeum is the star around which Murmiddon orbits, with the planet having 38 hour days with 418 day years. Each member state retains the right to have their own currencies, interests, and special economic control; but the league does have a unified single currency called the Myril which all other Murmid currencies are tied to and which is legal tender in all member states, serving as an alternative and the trade currency of the nation. The Myril is also legal tender in Agapeopolis. Organisation The Organs of Peace is a collection of international organisations in legal, economic, natural, and diplomatic framework that aims to ensure continued unity and cooperation from the nations of Murmiddon by implementing passed acts from the Edeneraad. The Edeneraad or Noble Council is the main body of the league where nations may voice their concerns, propose global acts, or decide the foreign affairs of the league. Since each state enjoy self-governance, the league is highly diverse in ideologies and nation types. A handful of nations are democratic city-states, merchant republics, or council communities. Though most of the league is comprised of oligarchic states, corporate cities, or monarchical nobility of houses and land-owning elite. The Edeneraad is split into two bodies, the Lower Hall and Great Council, with each new member automatically admitted into the Lower Hall where they enjoy equality in power and opportunity to others. The Lower Hall votes on domestic policies or economic and legal acts with a 2/3rd majority needed for anything to pass. The Great Council is made up of the 7 seats for the Great Houses of Lowenstrom, Kaifferon, Volkim, Daargrun, Thyranum, Yutherum, and Malkoy who are recognised as the most powerful members of the league, alongside an additional seat to the representative of the Tannhauser Steel Guild. Members of the Great Council cannot vote on acts concerning legal, economic, or intra-league acts and cannot veto those processions. However, the Great Council has a final say in matters of military action and foreign affairs, and are the only ones who can call the league to war. Their main purpose is to oversee the processions of the league, fund its operation, and oversee the implementation of passed acts. To be recognised as a Great House, one must have the economic strength to afford and maintain a Vlagschiff which is to be built solely by the Tannhauser Steel Guild. Once a Great House no longer has a Vlagschiff or can't operate it, or a Great House acts in a manner against greater interest of Murmiddon, the Lower Hall may choose to vote them out with a 3/4th majority and the unanimous approval of the other Great Houses. New members of the Great Council are forwarded by the Lower Hall and then unanimously approved by the remaining Great Council. Murmiddon Murmiddon is a habitable planet within the Lanikaean star system, being the 2nd planet from the star. It is 1.0532 times larger than Erene with almost identical gravitational, atmospheric, and magnetic forces to that of Erene. The most notable aspect about Murmiddon is its slower rotation compared to Erene, resulting in days being 38 hours long. Murmiddon also does not feature any moon or celestial object within orbit, resulting in stable oceanic movement. The planet features a 12.4 degree tilt resulting in subtle seasons that do not feature any drastic changes in temperature or daylight times, climates are stable year-round and snowfall is rarely recorded outside of the poles. The planet's stable tides and climate result in an almost uniform world covered by vast forests and grassy plains, while the seas are quite shallow at only a few kilometres at the deepest trenches. The poles are dominated by boreal islands and a small number of glacial fields in the north, while scattered regions of deserts and savannas are found across the equator. Murmiddon features 3 notable landmasses and thousands of small islands across the world. Lanikaeum is 1.32 times larger than Ardagan and burns brighter, resulting in the habitable zone which Murmiddon orbits around to be much farther away giving the planet 418-day years. The first planet in the Lanikaean star system is Delisi, a scorching rocky world of deep ravines that is rich in hard metals like tungsten and titanium. After Murmiddon the third planet is Sargosa, a cratered and barren world of large metallic deposits, similar to Agedena which is the fourth planet. The only gas giant in the system is Lylatum, a below-average sized cold giant that provides a steady supply of hydrogen for hyperdrive fuel. Diplomatic Affairs The Murmiddon League, while being an alliance of states rather than a centralised government, does maintain "Strategic Alliance Relationships" which are done to regulate and unify how Murmid states interact and are interacted with by other civilisations in the galaxy. This is done to protect overall interest of Murmiddon and to use the weight of an entire alliance into pressuring and pursuing relationships with the rest of the galaxy. Overall foreign affairs is voted upon by each member of the Lower Hall, but final say remains with the Great Council who can decide to pursue or reject relationships with certain states, as well as establishing the scope of a relationship from suggestions provided by the Lower Hall. Great Council can terminate foreign relationships, but first must hold a procession to discuss such decision with the Lower Hall. The Murmiddon League does maintain a vassal state, that being Agapeopolis, and in official terminology the civilisation is a "League Protected State" though Murmiddon is able to exert influence on the state and each nation within the league has joint suzerainship of Agapeopolis. The Lower Hall and Great Council can call processions to establish how to influence and exert over the vassal interests that are league aligned, and the Great Council reserves the right to use final say to force changes upon vassal states. Vassal states tie their currency to the Murmid and make it legal tender in their nations, using the Murmid as their trade currency, and prioritising trade with the league over other states. Aside from the suzerain relationship, Murmiddon maintains close ties with the Royal Domain as its main trade partner in importing hyperdrive fuel. Murmiddon first encountered Chimor in 2768 and have since maintained neutral to friendly relations, similarly to the Pochven Imperium. The Murmiddon League is currently at war with the Palekastrian League, which broke off from Murmiddon as a rebel group opposing the league and have established themselves as a hostile state. Notable technology The main weaponry of the Murmiddon Vlagschiffs are Concentrated Neutron Beams (CNB). Neutrons are naturally separated from atoms in the process of creating energy in the ships Main Fusion Reactor, and those neutrons are then stored in the ship's Neutron Batteries which concentrate the neutrons into a highly dense energy state. Once a cannon fires, this stored dense energy state is directed into a concentrated particle beam of immense heat and force travelling at the speed of light. The total range of a CNB is about 100 light seconds, though the greater distance this beam has to travel, the more neutrons will scatter and dissipate from the directed beam, leaving an effective range of only about half that at 50 light seconds. CNB's power depends entirely on how large and concentrated the particle beam is. The forward cannons are almost always the largest in size and have the most concentrated beams, port and starboard cannons are usually smaller though have similarly concentrated particle beams. The ship CIWS are the smallest, universally less than a metre in width, and contain the least concentrated particle beams. Gravity Distortion Shielding (GDS) is the technology used on all Murmiddon Vlagschiff's which creates a bubble of energy shielding that protects the ships mainly from energy-based weaponry, acting as a layer of defence before damage can be done to the armour. GDS uses artificial gravity fields to deflect and dissipate energy beams, redirecting the path of the weapon away from the Vlagschiff and into space. This technology is less effective on kinetic and missile based weaponry, but is able to slow down these projectiles before impact or even push them away from a ship if the projectile is slow enough. Each deflection and dissipation of laser or kinetic weaponry requires energy, and depends entirely on how much force was needed to deflect or slow the incoming damage. A ship's GDS is produced by its Shielding Reactor and Auxiliary Reactor, and if the reactors are unable to produce the energy required for the GDS to deflect a laser beam, the shields will drop and result in damage to the Vlagschiff. However, GDS does regenerate as more power from the two reactors is constantly created to maintain a gravitational field around the ship. The manipulation of gravity fields is also what allows Vlagschiff's to enter and freely move within atmosphere. Murmid Vlagschiffs use artificial gravity fields to lessen the effects of natural gravitational forces of a planet and repelling against them, and planets which have stronger gravitational pulls require greater energy for a ship to stay within its atmosphere. |

The Lylat Confederation |
Lylat, officially known as `The United Planets Of The Lylat Confederation`, is a union of various planets inside the Lylat System, and beyond, which is characterized for using special, Bellical-Exclusively purposed single-user spaceships called "ARWINGS". A common Arwing has the cockpit in the front part of a Beak-Designed body of most of the Ship, with 2 stylized Wings that are equipped with Plasma Beams inside, which are the primary attack form of Users, with mostly unlimited ammo. Since the Ships have mechanisms inside that produce their own purified Plasma to then convert it into a Concentrated Plasma Beam. Also equipped with an agile mobility to do `Barrel Rolls`, 360° Rotations around their own body, aside from a Speed Booster in the rear. The Principal Lylat System Subdivision [LSS] Is conformed by planets Corneria, Zoness, Aquas, Titania, Macbeth, Fortuna, Fichina. Also takes account 7 Mayor Sectors or Spacial Zones; Meteo, Bolse, and the anomalous Sectors X, Y and Z, Sector Beta and Sector Omega. Lylat is a binary Solar System, meaning it has it's habitual Sun (the homonym star of Lylat), and Solar, a Dwarf Red which is sometimes categorized into these Celestial Bodies. Lylat currently is thought to be a relatively old civilization. For, they have always been isolated from the other independent Leagues, Commonwealths or Republics in all of the Galaxy, due to their Interstellar position in one of the extreme corners of the Later. However, the main cientifics in both Corneria (the most developed Planet) and Fichina are working together to investigate, plan and create a new type of Spaceship specifically designed to travel large Stellar Distances in Hypothetical Hyperlanes theorized by the Smartest in Lylat. |

The Republic of East Wind |
East Wind for starbound Table of Contents 1. History - Before Homeplace - Formative Years - The Divided Civilisation 3. Demographics - Population - Races 4. Government - Military 5. Maps East Wind's history begins in 2534, when the first ship, East Wind, landed at system C-4330-308-1, which subsequently became known as Homeplace. Before this, the first settlers of Homeplace were from the Ardagan Compendium and were, like the Ardagan Compendium itself, mostly human. They came from the home world of humanity, Erene, and left the Ardagan Compendium in search of a better life elsewhere in the universe. Erene was, during this era, a dismal place to live. The world, which had recently unified into a then ineffectual planet wide government, consisted of spectacular urban sprawl on every continent. Overpopulation caused poverty and crime was rampant. Indeed, the standard of living had been so low that such expeditions to new worlds were not uncommon. The first setllers decided against moving to the Toliman system of the Ardagan Compendium owing to the corporate anarchy and recent civil war and also against New Ardaga because its unique planetary governments felt stifling to the downtrodden who had scraped enough to escape Erene. In the end, these first few explorers boarded multiple ships as part of an exploration fleet traversing a path rumoured to carry them off to a system as yet untouched by the old country. The main ship was called East Wind, named after the journey it was going to take eastwards in the galaxy. In total, 15 ships with 5,000 people set off together. The journey took 6 months. On several occasions, the ships ran out of fuel and were forced to share or wait in the atmosphere of a system for their ramscoops to recuperate fuel. The food and water situation was similarly bleak but the pioneers had eventually found a system with a habitable planet. They landed, and called it Homeplace, from which the system gets its name. Homeplace, the planet, is a cold world, with short and mild summers but long and hard winters. The climate is too unforgiving for many crops and has only a limited range of indigenous wildlife, mostly consisting of furry mammals and migratory birds. Much of the surface is blanketed in snow at any given moment with tall mountain peaks and harsh mountain ranges cutting across the tectonic plate boundaries. The air is denser than Erene and speedy winds cut across the landscape to create a biting cold that quickly causes frostbite in the colder part of the year if flesh is insufficiently protected. However, the planet is also rich in deposits of nickle, bauxite, aluminium, copper, and the typical metals needed for a high-tech civilisation to exist. The first settlers, therefore, found a planet that could be theirs, far detached from the old country they despised, one that could be moulded in their image, and one that could be sustainable for a tough and hardy group of pioneers. The first settlement, "Anchor", was founded on an island directly on a fault line between three tectonic plates. The location was chosen out of necessity for easy electricity. The first people and drones to leave the ships cleared out a large area of land and flattened it to allow the larger ships to land. These ships formed the first living quarters of the new civilisation until greater resources could be brought from Erene. Over the next few centuries, the civilisation advanced at pace with births and plenty of immigrants. Anchor became the capital of Homeplace but it ceased to be the largest settlement or even the most economically important. Other settlements, founded without the need for a quick start on the world, formed in more arable and resource wealthy parts of the planet. Wind farms came to dominate these other settlements as the source of energy used, although the allure of energy from splitting the atom was too tempting and nuclear reactors also began propping up to supplement the grid. Vegetable and fruit farms were, for the most part, a greenhouse affair with mega corporations importing seeds from Erene initially and supplementing their catalogue with indigenous flora. Meat, with animals as scarce as they were, were mass-produced in laboratories and are characteristically bland. Real meat became a delicacy after animal rights were tightened to prevent mass extinctions. The culture similarly evolved as Anchor, with its uniquely Erene-like culture, became less relevant. The culture outside of the capital evolved to become much more like the tales of the vikings from thousands of years ago on Erene. Uniquely heavy-duty clothing became the default with fur, mostly faux, being as common as a t-shirt might be on Erene. Homes adopted wooden façades, again reminiscent of the vikings, even if the actual structure was composed of reinforced concrete to resist tectonic activity. Interiors were similarly wooden. The economy came to depend on, initially, imports from the Ardagan Compendium. However, over time, as the population grew, imports from the Ardagan Compendium became more expensive and difficult owing to the vast distances. Domestic industry stepped up as imports faltered. Indigenous manufacturing took over and, within a few centuries, imports from the Ardagan Compendium became negligible. The quick growth brought with it the formalising of the planet's government, which had hitherto been largely left to individual settlement groups. The new planetary government followed after the Ardagan Compendium's Erene and portioned out representatives according to population of special zones, each zone having their own degrees of autonomy to preserve their unique identities and cultures. The economy globalised further, with planetary unions protecting workers from companies and guilds lobbying the government on behalf of these companies. This arrangement, while imperfect as any economic model is, worked and Homeplace started to develop its own space ships instead of buying them off the Ardagan Compendium. With that final barrier eventually crossed, East Wind became a truly independent civilisation in its own right.

The Palekastrian League |
The Counter League of Murmiddon in Palekastro, or better-known as just the Palekastrian League, is a loose separatist confederation of 74 aristocratic estates situated almost entirely on the planet of Palekastro within the Rhadamanos star system, with a minority inhabitants across the system's other six planets. Established during the Palekastrian Exodus as a result of the Caradja controversy, it officially positions itself as the legitimate government-in-exile of the Murmiddon League, with mirroring institutional frameworks and customs. Palekastro is the League's only world of significance. It is a temperate, mountainous planet with two moons, strong tides, pronounced seasons, and a patchwork of climates, from rugged highlands and rocky coasts to dry plateaus and broad river valleys. Its terrain is defensible, divided, and difficult to unify, which the Palekastrian houses considered appropriately emblematic of their shared existence. Settlement is concentrated in fortified valley-cities and coastal strongholds, with the vast stretches between them thinly held. The Rhadamanos star system contains seven planets in total. Ochlakies is a scorced super-Erene mined by the League's industrial guilds, Cyriamadi is a cold, cratered world used for fleet anchorage and garrison stations, Acragas is the system's gas giant, supplying the hydrogen used as hyperdrive fuel, and its refineries are the most heavily defended installations in the League, while finally Vrisidi, Mitate, and Dymaea are distant, icy worlds with only scattered outposts, used as listening posts and quiet staging grounds, with Dymaea being particular as a sub-Paladin world. History Enterprise of Phrantza (2711 – 2712) In 2711, the Phrantza controversy broke out among several lesser houses of Murmiddon's lesser hall, led by philosopher and polymath Solon Phrantza. War of the Three Princes The beginnings of the conflict lay during the reign of Chief Ecclesiarch Tacitus IV Scylitzes. His dynasty, the House of Scylitzes, had ruled the League for over sixty years by the time of his election. Acragantine War With the toppling of the Scylitzan dynasty came the Treaty of Dreispitz, which established a military triuvmirate for Palekastro consisting of Diomedes Petraliphas as Chief Ecclesiarch, Menestor de Caradja as Admiral-General, and Emil von Radingh as Captain-General. Dymaean War The Dymaean War, also known as the Dymaean Enterprise, is considered the final phase of Menestor's War (2988 – 2990), which pitted the allied forces of Menestor de Caradja ("Menestrians") against Diomedes Petraliphas and Constantin Arkoleos ("Diomedians"). Having successfully expelled the bulk of Petraliphas naval power from Palekastro, Menestor de Caradja had set about the process of consolidating Caradja power. During the lull in the fighting, Menestor had convinced the Ecclesia to elect himself Chief Ecclesiarch, installed his allies in the bureaus of the Ecclesia, and ordered the Nemata Corporation to begin work on the Nemata-3 draadschiff design. In late 2989, he'd also overseen the marriage of his son Othon de Caradja to Roxana Libadarios, establishing the Caradjas as the most powerful house in Palekastro. While content to let the Diomedians sue for peace, Menestor was pressured by his younger brothers Menelaus and Menecrates to put an end to the conflict once and for all. Consenting, Menestor organized a new fleet with the backing of the Houses of Axouch, Tolck, and Racovitza, a triad of great houses who sought to seize the planet of Dymaea from its historic owner, the House of Arkoleos, which had supported the Petraliphas during the war. The ruler of Dymaea during this time was Count Constantin Arkoleos. Wary of Menestrian designs, Arkoleos agreed to have the Diomedian fleet base themselves at Dymaea Station in preparation for a defensive campaign, while he sent messages to the Menestrian camp in the hopes of obtaining a ceasefire. The effort was ignored, however. In 2990, the Menestrians concluded the Provatas Agreement to prepare the post-war civilian order. Among others, it finalized the rotation of offices between the Axouch, Tolck, and Racovitza families, established the next board structure of the Nemata Corporation, and outlined the plans for a future Caradja-led war against Murmiddon. Shortly after its signing, the Menestrian Fleet began to organize. The Menestrian Fleet consisted of the Houses of Caradja, Curcuas, Libadarios, Axouch, Anzen und Rosthof, Inregillensis, Provatas, Macinghi, Tolck, and Racovitza. They numbered five draadschiffs, fifteen avisos, and two auxiliary cruisers: 1 × Olifant-class draadschiff (Olifant) Facing them was the Diomedian Fleet of the Houses of Petraliphas, Ostermann, Pallars, Arkoleos, Valery, Ruset, Tsamblak, Apion, Zokomos, Ikmor, Farensbach, and Zuylen. Their fleet consisted of three draadschiffs, a vlagschiff, eleven avisos, and eight auxiliary cruisers: 3 × Aroundight-class draadschiffs (Marmyadoise, Galatine, Carnwennan) Government The highest legal and organizational instrument in Palekastro is the Palekastrian Symmachia, an unwritten constitution comprising the various arrangements and treaties during the league's process of consolidation into a single political entity. Only two formal supranational institutions exist within the League's bureaucracy, the Ecclesia ("Council of Magnates") and the Apella ("Council of Equals"), who each elect an archegos ("Chief") at the beginning of each session. The Ecclesia is the supreme war and civil council of the League, whose members are known as the ecclesiarchs, generally the heads or select representatives of Palekastro's great houses. Conventionally, the Ecclesia is supposed to only be in session during moments of national crises before dissolving and devolving power to the Apella and the great houses. However, since the Exodus, the Ecclesia has always been in session, in its latest form by Chief Ecclesiarch Menestor de Caradja. Under the Symmachia's provisions, the Ecclesia is empowered to determine the overall war strategy of the League, to introduce war taxes, issue bonds, and standardize military equipment. It is capable of compelling the member houses to provide a proportional number of troops and/or equipment to the League's armed forces proportional to its available resources, and can pass censures and penalties on non-compliant houses. Beneath the Ecclesia is the Apella, a civic body representing the entire Palekastrian population, organized according to house affiliation for the majority and according to trades and industries for some institutionally-important guilds. Its members are called the apelliates and hold session remotely, with the elected Chief Apella serving as the neutral moderator of discussions. All ecclesiarchs send secondary representatives as delegates to sessions of the Apella. The Apella is generally required to hold session at least once a year to determine the fiscal affairs of the League, with all later sessions being held at the discretion of the great houses themselves. During periods in which the Apella is not in session, a civil servant called the steadholder nominally coordinates administration across the great houses. Demographics The Palekastrian League is racially homogeneous, with its entire population consisting of humans descended, ultimately, from the Ardagan star system. However, at the cultural level there is substantial fragmentation across the great houses, with most identifying with Elseyran traditions and a minority with a mix of Shamatine, Vespurian, and Argossian. Languages Officially, the national language of Palekastro is simply called "Murmid", though it is more accurately called Palekastrian Murmid in academic literature, being variously described as either a dialect or variety of Standard Murmid. It is said to have evolved out of the Murmid speech used by the Palekastrian aristocracy who first settled on Palekastro, which eventually spread to the common settlers of the League. Palekastrians are also known to learn the Common language from an early age, with most aristocratic scions obtaining fluency before age 10, and most commoners becoming fluent around high school. Palekastrian Common, a variety of that tongue, is often encountered in everyday society, particularly in cosmpolitan cities and metropolises, where codeswitching between Common and Murmid is normalized, particularly in casual settings. Religion Religion is deemphasized in Palekastrian life, though a metaphysical and spiritual framework known as Tautosophy ("wisdom of the same") ranks highly among studies of Palekastrian religious beliefs, caused in part by its active support from the House of Phrantza during the opening phases of the Murmiddo-Palekastrian War. However, these numbers, reaching up to 78% of all Palekastrians on the planet, generally counts those affiliated with a Tautosophical chapter rather than true believers, leaving the true numbers uncertain. |

Any increases to military points through such RP will be approved by the mods on a case-by-case basis. There are seven classes of military ships:
Ships can carry more than the established fighter limit at the cost of one extra military point for every 10% above the limit. ![]() ✦ Interactions With Others You cannot declare war, involve a nation in an RP, use, commandeer, interfere, or in any way use another civilisation's territory, transit its core territory (systems it owns via expansion but not including economic expansion), lore, or any similar act involving that player's civilisation without that player's specific permission. You can use the Ardagan Compendium's lore and history for your civilization and transit its core territory as it is an NPC civilisation. You cannot declare war on it, commandeer its systems and resources, nor trade with it. Unclaimed systems are devoid of space-faring life and navigation is freely permitted. ![]() ✦ Expansions You can expand once every month into a nearby system. Expansions add 8 military points. You must RP the expansion and development of the system. These must be RMB posts with a minimum word count of 2,000 words. You cannot expand if you already have five systems. You are allowed to roleplay expansions that are set in the past. Requests for increases must be telegrammed to the mod team. The mod team can reject expansions at their discretion. Use the following form to file for an expansion and send it here: EXPANSION REQUEST Civilisation Name: ![]() ✦ Population Expansions You can expand your population once a month. You must RP the increase of your population. RPs can be either increased efficiency in utilising resources of a given system or through terraforming. Examples of increasing efficiency include:
You can only terraform twice in a system you have expanded into unless you have expanded into a fertile system, in which case you can terraform four times. You cannot terraform in a system you have claimed via economic expansion unless it is a fertile system, in which case you can terraform once. You can request an increase in military points with your request for a population expansion. Requests for population expansions must be telegrammed to the mod team. The mod team can reject population expansions at their discretion. Use the following form to file for a population expansion and send it here: POPULATION EXPANSION REQUEST Civilisation Name: ![]() ✦ Economic Expansions You can expand into any system for economic purposes once every month. Economic expansions into any system add 3 military points and metal rich systems add an additional two points. You must RP the expansion into and development of the system. This must be as an RMB post with a minimum word count of 1,000 words. There is no limit to the number of economic expansions you can do. You can have economic expansions into systems claimed as economic expansions by others. You cannot have an economic expansion into the core territory of another civilisation. Economic expansions will be highlighted differently on the map. All economic expansions are contemporary i.e. you cannot RP them in the past. Requests for economic expansions must be telegrammed to the mod team. The mod team can reject economic expansions at their discretion. Use the following form to file for an economic expansion and send it here: ECONOMIC EXPANSION REQUEST Civilisation Name: ![]() ✦ Trading You can trade for resources that you do not already have. You do not get the bonus military points when you trade and you do not lose military points by trading either. You can use resources you have acquired through trade to meet the requirements for certain types of ships. You can use the resources you have acquired through trade to RP construction of military or economic infrastructure. Losing a resource that you had acquired through trade will incur a cost: any ships you have that rely on that resource will become unavailable for RP and infrastructure built with those resources will no longer be considered. Back to top ⬆️[/sub Alt accounts are classified in two distinct groups: Independent Alts: An alt account that is a fully independent civilisation within the RP. Dependent Alts: An alt account that is intrinsically tied to your main civilisation, such as a breakaway or insurgency, a puppet state, an autonomous state or a colony. Adding a Dependent Alt to the map counts as an expansion and requires a 2000 word RP post to justify it unless it is carved out of your existing land. You may not use your Independent Alt to militarily support your main nation or one of your other alts. Use the following form to file a request for a Dependent Alt and send it here: DEPENDENT ALT REQUEST Main Civilisation Name: [sub]Back to top ⬆️ ![]() ✦ AI Usage You cannot use AI to write RMB posts, factbooks, or any other text. You can use AI art. You can use AI to format dispatches, generate ideas, proofread, etc. where it does not generate the text for you. You can use AI to translate your posts into English, if you use a different language, but you must inform the mod team about this in advance. ![]() ✦ Fantasy You are allowed to have fantasy elements such as short range telekinesis and other similar magic or fantasy species such as elves and dwarves. You cannot use fantasy elements to circumvent other rules. Fantasy elements must have their lore fleshed out in a dispatch. Other players are allowed to refuse to acknowledge fantasy elements. ![]() ✦ Rules Enforcement The mods can void posts or dispatches that violate the rules. The mods can suspend offenders from the RP if an offence is serious enough. The mods can enforce other punishments such as stripping away an expansion, decreasing military points, reducing population, etc. ![]() . . . . ![]() . |
