OVERVIEW

The Humanist Raj of Karet is a tiny, genial nation, ruled by Rajah Lukman Yusmania with an iron fist, and notable for its compulsory military service, frequent executions, and keen interest in outer space. CULTURE

The Derun State Sepakak Association (DSSA) recognises the three variants of the Sepakak game – the Muara, Labuan, and Ilang games – as being commonly played in Karet. Here are some of the common rules all three variants share:

• The game should be played in an open area of at least 6m in height.

• Players cannot pass the ball back-and-forth between the same two players twice in a row; Ahmad can pass the ball to Bakar and Bakar can pass it back to Ahmad, but now Ahmad must either pass it to another player and not Bakar or hit the tandan with the ball.

• Using your hands to manipulate the ball is only allowed in the Ilang game.
