Family Background
Lance was born the eldest of five children (two brothers and two sisters.) His position as eldest meant he was groomed to be a leader from the time that he could walk. His father was more of a scholar than a warrior or statesmen. He spent much of his free time studying theology and the sciences, which didn't excite Lance. His mother was a noblewoman from a HimDyrian colony. When his father was away on trips, which was often, he would travel with his mother and siblings to her native colony. He learned her customs, the importance of learning the cultures of others, and how to lead those with different mindsets.

Education & Academic Career
After his formative years, Lance did what nearly every emperor's heir before him did and attended the Royal Military Academy. His studies focused on guerilla warfare and unconventional tactics. After graduating in the top third of his class, he joined the Ravenswatch, an elite special operations group focused on nighttime raids and small-team tactics.

Career
He climbed the military ladder quickly, partially due to his position as Crown Prince and partially due to his love for service. Eventually, he transferred to the Colonial Expeditionary Force and worked as a Governor over several colonies. He oversaw infrastructure improvements and increases in access to law. He married the love of his life, Lady Allory Elbriech, during this time as well. She was one from of the most powerful noble houses in HimDyr, House Elbriech. After the death of his father from illness and age, he left the colonial life and was crowned Emperor Lance Boltone III.

Public Perception
His perception is dependent on the person. Most conservative, religious people view him as a religious paragon and a Holy Emperor. Less religious people see him as a good statesmen. His opponents differ in viewing him as someone who is going to hinder HimDyrian progress or someone who is trying to progress the country away from its isolationist roots.

There are rumors that the Emperor may have a child from outside of his marriage, but this has never been confirmed.

Family Background
Allory was born to arguably the second most powerful family in HimDyr. She was a middle child of many siblings and named after the first Empress of HimDyr. She spent much of her youth playing and traveling around her province's famed river, the Elbriech Line. This once dried up river is flooded with fish and fertile farmland. Her father was a member of the Royal Council, serving Emperor Pierce Boltone and his father. Her mother was an artist and socialite.

Education & Academic Career
After her youth, she attended her family's university, the Elbriech College of Science, where she studied sociology and political science with the hopes of working for the royal government as a stateswoman. It was during one of her school-related trips to study the political culture of a colony that she met a young, Crown Prince Lance.

Career
After graduation, she worked in colonial-outreach programs, assisting more remote colonial governments with having connections to the royal government. She once again ran into Lance and the two began dating. After only a year, she would leave the service to marry Lance and become the Crown-Princess of HimDyr.

His perception is universally beloved. To the religious, she is the most holy being on earth, a paragon of virtue for all to follow. She often takes the emperor's place during religious ceremonies when he is busy. It is not uncommon to see Empress Allory iconography in one's home or a shop. To those who focus on the political side, she is viewed as the epitome of an Empress. She is graceful, intelligent, and wants to do what is best for the nation, not just the royal family. Those who dislike her, usually see her as an extension of Lance.
