Her family is Hindu (though they don’t really practice it) and so is she but she has a strained relationship with god. She’s popular in school, and can be very mean. She’s constantly worried about her looks, her social life, and everything other than her grades which is why she doesn’t do well but she’s smart. She’s really good at writing, though she’s failing English.
While she acts rude and mean, she is extremely sensitive and fears judgement.
Her mom is a lawyer and her dad owns a business. They’re extremely well off and do well but they’re not really there for her and constantly nitpick everything.
She has light brown wavy hair, hazel eyes, and loves wearing pretty eyeliner. Miriam has a bubbly, spontaneous personality and often speaks or acts before thinking. She enjoys boxing and gardening, and although she struggles a little in school she tries her best. She often finds herself angry at herself for not being smart, failing to acknowledge that her grades don’t define her.
When she’s older, Miriam hopes to work with the UNHCR, helping refugees and people who have been forced to leave their homes, because she wants to make a difference in the world.
He has curly blonde hair, pale white skin, blue eyes and typically wears blue shirts. He stands at 5’ 11” and is quite the lanky kid, and is slightly underweight. He is an ambivert, stating that if “I have nothing important to say, I won’t say it”. He enjoys spending time with his friends. He is a mentally troubled kid due to various experiences, a really rough breakup, and his weight, although he never talks about it much. He enjoys listening to folk music as it “reminds me of home”. His hobbies include writing poetry, reading, painting/drawing, stargazing, playing guitar, hiking and biking. He’s a pretty smart kid too, ranked at the top of his class. However, he has a lot of internal pressure to do well.
When Jasper is older, he wants to get a PhD in astrophysics as it’s the only way he feels his life “won’t be a complete waste”.
Elias Brooks is a 17-year-old boy of Black and White heritage. He grew up with two loving, supportive parents, but after being expelled from his previous school for repeatedly getting into fights and refusing to follow the rules, they decided he would move in with his grandparents for a fresh start. His grandfather, a strict but fair man, hopes to teach Elias responsibility and help him get his life back on track.
Elias is confident, funny, and naturally charismatic, making it easy for people to like him. However, he’s impulsive, hot-headed, and hates feeling ignored or disrespected. In relationships, he can become jealous and controlling without realising how unhealthy his behavior is. He wants constant reassurance, gets frustrated when things don’t go his way, and often speaks before thinking. Deep down, he cares about the people close to him, but his insecurity and pride make it difficult for him to communicate in healthy ways.
Despite his flaws, Elias isn’t beyond change. Living with his grandparents forces him to face the consequences of his actions, and whether he becomes a better person is up to the choices he makes.
