IN THE TERRITORIES OF THE LIGURIAN REPUBLIC

TRANSIT IN THE LIGURIAN REPUBLIC
The Republic of Liguria allows free transit to all foreigners wishing to visit or simply pass through its territories. Non-resident foreign citizens in transit are required to abide by and observe the laws and regulations in force, as they are subject to the same regulations as Ligurian citizens and residents. Foreign citizens in transit are also subject to the same fundamental rights as Ligurian citizens and residents.
The police and public security authorities of the Ligurian Republic may, in the cases provided for by law and ministerial regulations, carry out entry checks.
Foreign citizens in transit may be removed or expelled from the country in the cases provided for by law. In the event of expulsion or removal, the judicial or police authorities will notify the reasons for the procedure within 48 hours via an official document.

RESIDENCE IN THE LIGURIAN REPUBLIC
RESIDENCE IN THE LIGURIAN REPUBLIC
Foreign citizens may apply for temporary or permanent residency in the Republic of Liguria. The official application must be submitted to the appropriate administrative bodies, specifying its duration (temporary or permanent).
Temporary residency has a limited duration, after which the foreign citizen must submit a new residency application or leave the country. Failure to renew the temporary residency application or leave within the required timeframe (within 48 hours of the temporary residency permit expiration) will result in removal and expulsion from the country.
Permanent residency has an unlimited duration; if the resident leaves, it will remain valid for a maximum of three days, after which the residency will be considered terminated.
Permanent residency may be revoked only in cases provided by law, such as violations of the law and the criminal code.
All residency applications will be subject to a prior criminal background check and a general background check of the applicant; approval or rejection of the application will be notified via official documentation.
