As you might have noticed from the date, this issue was released later than intended. However, the news editor team has decided to publish an April-May edition as a stripped-down version of our usual format.

This issue will, as always, start with the latest RP overview by Arlanda, our new Minister of Roleplay. It will cover the months of March and April.

After this, our President, Diatian Isles, will update us on the latest activity in the regional parliament.

Additionally, Suvmia, will analyze the happenings beyond the sea.

Finally, Vice Delegate Pretiosa will interview recently elected President Diatian Isles about her plans for the region.

APRIL/MAY RP OVERVIEW - Arlanda

Greetings, this is the first article written by the new Minister of Roleplay of the Frontier Sea, Arlanda! The previous RP article for March and April will be covered in this issue, due to the transition to a new Minister of Roleplay. Before we begin, I’d like to thank Eastern Osowiecs for their contribution to the RP environment and to all the roleplayers of the Frontier Sea. I hope I will live up to your expectations.

Now, onto the news of the RP!

March!

March began with the continuation of a community RP event, Ashfall! With a massive eruption of a supervolcano, the Frontier Sea was coated in toxic ash. Players from across the region joined together to survive the crisis when an old foe took advantage of the crisis! The alien Great Host! Across the Frontier Sea, the nations of the region fought against alien invaders amongst the ash and soot.

Chaos continued in the Diatian Isles. Bihran Girafad, the head of the socialists in Fulreh, was found dead and assumed to have been killed by political rivals such as the Progress or Conservative Party. Afterward, a new leader was elected in the Socialist Party, Virigahliad Jarnawaqi, an orthodox follower of the previous leader. In the nearby Novodacian People’s Dkarviyaa, Dkarvashi Khazav resumed his duties, declaring martial law, purging rivals, and beginning mobilization. Most critically, the Dkarviyaa struck numerous trade and protection agreements with Zul, a member of the Federation of the Diatian Isles, beginning an expansion of the chaos in the Diatian Isles that would soon spread like wildfire! Mobilized personnel of the Dkarviyaa would soon intervene in the ongoing Jasiran Civil War in the Diatian Isles, creating a client state known as the Provisional Government of Jasira.

After the invasion of Nalidesh, the Dutch States and Territories attempted to push forward a peace plan for the Diatian Isles. Featuring Sovereign compact membership for Nalidesh, a transitional federation for Jasira, and Sovereign compact mediation between the conflicting parties, the plan received effectively zero support, even within the Sovereign compact, highlighting the conflicting interests in one of the Frontier Sea’s forefront alliances.

Amongst this, international economic developments continued across the region. The Dutch States and Territories worked closely with the Most Serene Republic of Arlanda to secure a corridor for the construction of the Cindeor-Oseia Railway tunnel, continuing cooperation in the Transfrontier Railway Project started by their cooperation on the East Arlanda Sea Tunnel. With military aid from the Civic Guard of the Most Serene Republic, Dutch and Arlandan engineers were protected during the ongoing Novarian Civil War in the tunnel’s construction region.

As Ashfall cleared, the Osoweican airship, the Mother of Autumn, headed towards the Futurist State of Agladnare, the Technocratic Collective’s ally. The Collective also regained contact with its satellites as Ashfall began to subside. When firefighting actions against Ashfall bore fruit, the Collective made their move to pursue the Mother of Autumn.

Manmade horrors beyond our comprehension continued in Neon omagatoki, as the development of “Babel Prions” vector prion was tested on Allany John Martinez. The effects were terrifying, as expected by the Hivemind. In the end, the subject was reduced to a wailing, communicationless meltdown before becoming silent and bedridden. Meanwhile, the Chengdu supercomputer began the forceful assimilation of the consciousnesses of the Hivemind, alongside new developments in defense initiatives.

Despite the chaos of war in the Diatian Isles, love always seems to prevail, especially when assisted by wine from the Most Serene Republic of Arlanda. Rumor has it that Greyn Madarees Varadgaha and the Kaungolah Madarees of Zul, Twilight Sparkles were drawn a little too close for professionalism, partially by the incredible aroma and flavor of Arlandan wine. In this writer’s completely unbiased and neutral opinion, this is proof that Arlandan wine continues and forevermore will be the best drink in the Frontier Sea.

Ehem...

With the increased Novodacian involvement in Jasira, various international powers, from the Futurist State of Agladnare and the Xeraphine Empire, to Arlanda and Eastern Osowiecs, became increasingly involved in the conflict. A humanitarian corridor was established, then struck by Novodacian forces. This triggered a further escalation of the conflict with airstrikes, naval maneuvers, offensives from all sides, and Osowiecsian mechanical terrors unleashed across the island. Ultimately, peace did not prevail as total war broke out between the major powers and Novodacia. The nation of Eternitopoly led a multinational coalition, including Arlanda and The Georgelandian State, in a powerful embargo agreement to cripple the economy and warmaking potential of Novodacia. Despite this, the embargo would come too late to stop the conflict and the end of the Republic of Jasira.

A new government was formed in the Republic of Farconia as martial law was declared. The new government under Armando Quesadilla assumed extraordinary powers to stabilize the nation after the resignation of President Buderin Gonzalez. The new president quickly announced liberal economic reforms, selling state shares of Proten Corp to foreign investors. In the Idlesian Expedition of Aguris, a new settlement was established and named Iksplein, earning Frozen Front in Idlesian. Meanwhile, the United Republic of Cathendale continued Ashfall cleanup and the search for 18 United Social Commune Party fugitive members.

Arlanda continued its revolutionary role as the region's foremost recycling power, as the National Government unveiled the CRIMSON or Circular Recovery of Industrial Metals from Secondary Oxides Network program. The program details the recovery of rare earth metals, including the rare metal Scandium, from red mud, a byproduct of aluminium refining. Additionally, 2025 Naval Orders were brought into service, including the new Harbor-Class amphibious assault ships. These ships joined the National Navy in action around Jasira. Additionally, Vice President Amby passes the controversial opposition-led Vehicle Decarbonization Act, banning the sale and production of fossil fuel internal combustion engines in Arlanda by 2030.

In rare news from Pretiosa, the Treyan invasion of Nalidesh is creating great instability as conservatives protest the lack of action from the ruling liberal government of Jacob Normand. Later, the imprisoned, infamous conservative figure, Mark Rosbert, escaped house arrest in Druifstab and met with the Ministry of Defense while the Pretiosan Federal Armed Forces secured the Blue and william islands. What is the controversial figure plotting?

Two new nations joined the RP, Sesakvo and the Cerran Graethuldt! Sesakvo joined with martial mobilization over unrest over their “football” (soccer) season opener. Cerran joined with a unification of their great houses into the Graethuldt. Alongside their introduction, Teluk Karang completed the Tunitenga Ring Railway with the help of the fellow leftist nation, Agladnare. Clearly, the Frontier Sea loves railroads!

As the conflict in Jasira escalated, the Great Host took advantage by deploying powerful alien Overships and Cognitive Disruption towers in Jasira, adding another intergalactic layer to the complex conflict. But Neon omagatoki unleashed their own alienesque technology in fighting the host with their advanced aircraft carrier, the Hatsune Miku.

This would prove useful, as the Technocratic Collective of Eastern Osowiecs would be distracted with a war against their neighbors, Mondir and Western Osowiecs. At first, the advanced forces of the Collective crushed all resistance, but as the 4th Raven War continued, the northern mountains and southern marshlands slowed the Collective’s might. But those who refused to bow before the Collective were not treated mercifully…

To cap off the month of March, the crisis in Jasira would reach a fever pitch. With strikes against The Georgelandian State by Novodacia, the international coalition against Novodacia, a group of the Frontier Sea’s foremost powers: the Futurist State of Agladnare, Eastern Osowiecs, the Xeraphine Empire, Arlanda, The Georgelandian State, and Eastamgriumirkialand launched Operation “Hand of Punishment”, blockading Novodacian forces, and began a war that would determine the fate of Jasira. Within a day, the Provisional Government of Jasira would be dissolved, Novodacian forces in full retreat, and the heroic forces of Arlanda, Agladnare, and Eastern Osowiecs liberating the former client state. The Arlandan 1st Marine Assault Division would raise the bicolor flag over the former capital of Varadesha, irking their allies as the nation stole the glory. Regardless, at the end of the month, a ceasefire would be declared, and peace talks would begin in April.

Featured RP Nation of the Month: Sesakvo!

Sesakvo is a relatively new nation in the Frontier Sea, but they have already contributed so much to the storytelling project! From domestic unrest, political corruption, and detailed worldbuilding, we welcome Sesakvoc with the honor of being the first Featured RP Nation of the Month in the Maritime Postal Service!

April!

April began with the fallout of the war against Novodacia, generating clear implications already. In Arlanda, the March Presidential and National People’s Assembly elections came to a close as the ruling National People’s Party decisively defeated the new Farmer-Labor Party due to the NPP’s successful intervention in the conflict, granting the party a dominant majority of 300 of 541 representatives. President R.D. Houston defeated challenger Corinne Mael of the FPLA in the presidential elections and secured his second 5-year mandate. What will the future hold for the entrenched administration? Additionally, the glorious Minister of Roleplay began an overhaul project to rework the factbooks and dispatches of Arlandan RP into Wikipedia-style formatting, under the name “Arlapedia.”

In Sesakvo, protests rock the nation after the death of Markelo Tovari, a resident of the Fundaminejo western district, during violence at the Fundaminejo Derby. The government of Sesakvo has only shown inaction and disregard for the protests and the wider unstable situation. The OKR, or Organizo de Komunistaj Revoluciuloj, called for open revolution and a “People’s WR” against the “comprador bourgeois state and its fascist enforcement apparatus.” This broke the government’s silence as they condemned the OKR as a terrorist group. Sesakvo falls deeper into instability. Economic and agricultural troubles only worsen the situation.

With the withdrawal of Novodacian troops, Eastern Osowiecs led the charge against the Great Host in Jasira. Automatons and Voidlance Knights fought against the cognitive disruption and the aliens’ advanced Overships.

In Centas, a drug war brews as cartels and the government clash. This is the third concerted campaign to root out the drug trade, with estimates of up to 700,000 Centasians being addicted or at risk of drug addiction. Additionally, anti-piracy and drug smuggling efforts continue on the high seas near Centas

After the failure of their intervention in the Jasiran Civil War, the People’s Dkarviyaa of Novodacia was abolished by internal factions. The government reformed itself as the Democratic Federal Republic of Novodacia, with a new commitment to ending the former theocracy, developing democracy, and reconciling Novodacia with the international community. Agladnare welcomed this development with recognition and humanitarian aid, while taking Novodacian resources for the reconstruction of Jasira. In Ceelay, the capital of the Diatian Isles’ largest island, Eviteen, The great powers involved in the conflict gathered to form a just settlement to the conflict.

In the United Republic of Cathendale, industrialization in the previous isolated island nation has been accelerated with new funds to the manufacturing industry and the introduction of the “Calta,” a lighter currency alternative to the Calten and Salb currencies.

The government of Arlanda continued its sustainable industrial programs with the ROOT program, or Rubber Organic Optimization Technology program, seeking to replace intensive monoculture rubber plantations with polyculture cooperatives, dandelion rubber, and silicon rubber alternatives.

In the aftermath of the war against Novodacia, The Georgelandian State approved and electoral reform bill that increased the number of parliamentary seats, lowered the voting age from 21 to 18 years of age, and the acceptance of the previous Prime Minsiter’s resignation, with new elections under the bill’s reforms. Thomas Fersby, leader of the Georgelandian Democrats has called this “a great day for "Georgelandian democracy.”

Aside from their involvement in Jasira, the Technocratic Collective of Eastern Osowiecs began the pacification of Western Osowiecs following the surrender of Mondir. The Last Raven War concluded without even a whisper of condemnation from the international community, highlighting the Collective’s international power. Additionally, they brought the Great Host to its knees once again, exterminating the remnants of the host in Jasira after their victory in Mondir and West Osowiecs.

With the fall (and CTE) of the Mackeral states, the Red Garde militia of the former nation met with Teluk Karang’s government to ensure stability in the area. The Red Garde received funds and weaponry in exchange for close cooperation with the government of Teluk Karang.

A new faction was formed, the Pact of the Rising Tide, signed by Teluk Karang, Cathendale, and the Diatian Isles. Additionally, The Georgelandian State became a Rim Member, with the Republic of Mondrin and the Dutch States and Territories becoming observers.

With the Hivemind of Neon omagatoki solidified, Project Geofront was initiated, beginning the Transformation of the island into a concrete fortress impenetrable to the world.

The conservative unrest in Pretiosa came to a head as Prime Minister Jacob Normand resigned, calling a snap election and dissolving the Chamber of Delegates. Although a caretaker Prime Minister was named by President Richard Bront of the Liberal Party, it is expected that Mark Rosbert, after rejoining the Conservative Party, may win an absolute majority according to recent polling.

In the new Novodacian republic, elections were held for the first time since the fall of the first Novodacian republic. The Social Coalition Party won a slim majority on a broad leftist and centrist platform, with 192 seats. The Liberal Democratic Party won 185 seats, coming in second.

The Cerran Greathuldt made their first RP post, with a surprise telecast from his Primacy, Sceptarch Jonah Bydec, who adopted all… 24 of his “illegitimate children.” Remember to handle your Absinthe responsibly, friends.

Communist and leftist agitators escalated unrest in Statosnat before forming a new leftist government after astonishingly quick snap elections, but all of this was interrupted by…

The Great Crusade

With no alien hosts to combat and its traitorous neighbors subdued, the might of Eastern Osowiecs' mechanical machinations was turned on the entire Frontier Sea! A dramatic betrayal of the Bastion Accords, one of the Frontier Sea’s premier alliances, the Collective struck the Futurist State of Agladnare and dozens of nations across the region! In the air, on the sea, and across the fields and mountains, the Collective’s automatons, mechs, airships, and tanks scoured the land to destroy the international order, the International Assembly, and anyone who dared to oppose them. Will the nations of the sea survive? Or will the mechanical horrors of the Collective subdue humanity?

PARLIAMENT'S HARD AT WORK! - Diatian Isles

Much to say about recent legislation in the Frontier Sea. After a long period of general inactivity, the past few months have been very active, with several pieces of legislation drafted. This will act as a summary of Parliament’s hard work already done, as well as what’s waiting in the future.

First, Suvmia’s Term Length Adjustment Amendment. Ministers, formerly serving six months in a given term, will now serve just three. The President is unaffected by this term change, still serving the old six. Election months have also changed, from March and September to January, April, July and October. This is a simple amendment to the Constitution, yet still a few kinks to work out during this transitionary period. Notably, the current term, which will be uniquely served 4/7 months by the Ministers/President to get on track.

Second, the Secretary process has finally been formalized under Futurist State of Agladnare’s Regulating Executive Assignments Act. Previously, Secretaries served permanent terms via executive orders unless removed from the position manually, and the rules surrounding them practically didn’t exist. Now, Executive Assignment Directives are detailed in their guidelines and offer a blueprint for all future Secretary appointments. Deputy Ministers, also formerly missing from Frontier Sea governance, now may possibly exist. The door has now been opened for new Secretary appointments, likely to occur within the next few months. Particularly, as promised in Diatian Isles’ campaign, a Secretary of Goop. Whatever that means.

Looking at some legislation currently in drafts, the World Assembly Voting System Act looks to be amended in the near future, as some holes have been poked in it recently. Most worryingly, unfavorable reads ruining how voting streaks currently operate within the region. There are also ideas floating around on how to implement gameside citizens, whether through a telegram voting system or regional polling. The Frontier Sea’s World Assembly Recommendations are to be solidified in their process soon, loopholes removed and tiers perfected, no matter which route is taken.

Finally, I’d like to recognize what could be considered the first in this streak of legislation, despite being voted on in mid-March: Xeraphine Empire’s Cultural Development and Quarterly Community Events Act. A rework of the previous cultural system, this Act aims to set guidelines for what is expected of the Culture Minister: four events a year, card prizes from the Card Guild, and all the nitty-gritty details that entails are all written there. This has so far been followed with the Frontier Sea + Talonia chess tournament, with another event required to take place in July.

Xeraphine’s legislation is a great reminder to all TFS citizens: nothing stops you, the everyday member of Parliament, from proposing something new. Even more movement can happen if you want it to, so get out there and write something if you’re inspired!

BEYOND THE SEA - NEWS FROM ABROAD! - Suvmia

The United Regions Alliance, saw a major change in leadership earlier this month, with long-standing Secretary-General Suvmia stepping down from the role after nearly 18 months in the role. Suvmia was an incredibly long-standing member of the URA Cabinet, serving for nearly 5 and a half years out of the URA's total 6 and a half year span, but cited concerns about the URA's ability, particularly in its current form, in accomplishing the goals he had worked towards for those many years. Suvmia's exit also saw the departure of fellow Alliance Cabinet members Futurist State of Agladnare and Pretiosa, although Agladnare remains in an administrative capacity.

With Suvmia's resignation, the Kodiak Republic delegate Battadia has taken the helm as the new Secretary-General, adding former URA President Rykkland and Solringen to the ranks of cabinet. Battadia has consistently dedicated themselves to WA discussions within the URA in the past, and serves as the delegate of the second largest URA member region - given the names they have appointed to cabinet, this publication expects great things from the coming term.

In other news, the Frontier Sea has been actively engaged with her allies abroad throughout May. The month was opened with a joint Chess tournament between Talonia and the Frontier Sea, further building on the relationship established by the Covenant of Tide and Talon, and aims to, " determine if the best chess player is a TFSer or Talonian." Competition is fiercely underway, with an exciting mix of victories from both Talonian and Frontier Sea competitors - stay tuned for future editions and a more careful analysis of the games.

Last but not least, the Frontier Sea took part in the second annual edition of FrontierFest, an annual festival hosted by Europeia & Estalcia to celebrate, showcase, and discuss Frontiers across the NS multiverse, scheduled annually around the introduction of the Frontier/Stronghold update. The weekend event featured numerous festivities, including FrontierVision, an RP writing contest, a Frontier wiki contest, the Around the World in 80 Frontiers event - featuring a visit to the Frontier Sea for a movie night - and several radio events hosted by the European Broadcasting Corporation, including one by yours truly, discussing F/S in 2026: Past, Present, and Future.

AN INTERVIEW WITH Diatian Isles - Pretiosa

Pretiosa: Could you give us an overview of your NS career and how you ended up in The Frontier Sea?

Diatian Isles: I founded my nation close to April 1st 2023, pretty easy to remember. A lot later than most who use NationStates today, but early enough to actually predate Frontiers. I unfortunately also have to tell those people that Drew Durnil's videos on it brought it to my attention, albeit like a year after most people saw those vids. Don't know if that's still a touchy subject today?

Anyway, I wasn't founded in TFS, I specifically moved here. I was in another region for a few months, but it wasn't quite my vibe. Sometime around May, the Second Global Trade Fair had started up, and I wanted a region which better fit my "aesthetic" to compete for. The Frontier Sea, obviously, fit my "Isle" vibe nicely, so I simply hopped in and went to work on that event. I really wish that 2nd Trade Fair was archived, because it ended up being pretty major for us; Holy Anderele/Ellenburg can confirm or deny this, but I think my dedication to stashing sticky labels up to #1 overall put us on the map as a region, at least to some degree. I can at least personally confirm that I got reached out to by a few other major regions which were part of that event.

It's quite hard to leave a region after something like that, so I've been here ever since. One of my fondest memories.

Pretiosa: What motivated you to join the government and eventually run for president?

Diatian Isles: Honestly, because no one else was running for it, whether the PM of Francanada's term or the Delegate of this term.

I look back on it and consider running for PM the right decision, but in that moment I was quite conflicted and scared of running for a government position... at all, really. Francanada was a joy to talk to, and it was him who encouraged me to just go for it. I'd also like to give credit to the broader citizens of TFS, who gave me a lot of support throughout my PM tenure. I learned a lot about governance, gained a lot of confidence, and when the Delegate seat looked like it wouldn't be filled by anyone more experienced, I ran for office.

I feel some sort of duty to keep TFS thriving, so I'll always look to fill seats which look like they'll be empty. Suppose that's my main motivator.

Pretiosa: What are your main goals for this presidency?

Diatian Isles: Mainly, I want to ensure our laws are sound. As we continue to grow, more people will look to rule the region, and they need to know exactly what is and isn't allowed here. Future-proofing all of our written laws is next to impossible, but we can at least do our best to avoid things like the secretary appoints of the past, which was pretty much "let's have them in control of this thing because I decree it and it's probably legal?"

I could mention many other things I've got planned and my ministers are working hard on, but amending what can work and striking what can't is my #1 priority.

Pretiosa: Are you happy so far with the performance of the government that took office a month ago?

Diatian Isles: Absolutely! A lot of us needed to adjust a bit, but so far things are already in motion. This crew has more restrictions and requirements than any other government thus far, and it's handling it really well. I expect us to continue this momentum for at least another few months. Many members being new to things hasn't really negatively affected us, which is wonderful to see.

Pretiosa: Do you think the proposed term length adjustments currently being debated in parliament would be beneficial to the government?

Diatian Isles: Yes! I've noticed that a lot of folks tend to lose steam around the second half of their term. Nothing wrong with them or anything, it's just hard to stay super inspired for half a year. I think halving the time to start with will catch those who can give us only a productive 3 months, and still allow those who can give us the 6 months of before re-election.

Pretiosa: A month in, and still no Secretary of Goop. Is this a betrayal of your electorate?

Diatian Isles: We're gooping the secretary system in place right now. Worry not goopers, the Goop Secretary will be gooping on soon.

The voting period of this election opened March 28 and concluded April 1. The polls received 46 responses, with 44 valid votes cast out of the 87 Citizens in Good Standing.
