World Assembly: Getting Started

The World Assembly is NationStates' version of the United Nations. It allows nations to vote on international laws and participate in regional politics. This guide will help you understand the basics and how to get started.

Step 1: Go to your nation’s main page and click the “World Assembly” tab on the left.

Step 2: Click “Apply to Join the World Assembly.” You’ll need to verify your email if you haven’t yet.

Step 3: Once accepted, your nation will gain the [WA] badge. You can now vote on resolutions and endorse other WA nations!

Note: You can only have ONE nation in the World Assembly.

An endorsement is when one WA nation shows support for another. Endorsements help determine who becomes the WA Delegate of a region.

Important: You must be in the same region as the nation you want to endorse!

Step 1: Go to the nation’s page you want to endorse.

Step 2: If they are in the WA and in your region, scroll to the bottom of their nation page. You will see a green “Endorse” button.

Step 3: Click it! Done!

Note: You cannot endorse nations outside your region or those who aren't WA members.

The nation with the most endorsements in a region becomes the WA Delegate. The Delegate:

Votes on WA proposals on behalf of the region
May have executive powers depending on the type of region
Often plays a role in regional security
Tip: Some regions have rules about who you can endorse. Always check your regional message board or forum!

The General Assembly (GA) is the part of the World Assembly where nations vote on international resolutions. These resolutions are focused on global laws and regulations that affect all nations. Every WA member has the right to vote on these proposals, and the decisions can shape the international landscape.

Any WA member can submit a proposal to the GA.
Nations vote on each proposal, with the options being Approve or Reject.

The Security Council (SC) is the part of the World Assembly that focuses on recognizing and responding to the actions of individual nations and regions. Its goal is to maintain global harmony by addressing conflicts, human rights violations, or any other threats to international peace and stability.

Key Features of the SC:

The Security Council is focused on resolving issues that threaten global peace, such as conflicts or human rights abuses.
The SC has the authority to issue sanctions, approve peacekeeping missions, or take other actions to ensure international harmony.
The decisions made in the Security Council can impact entire regions or specific nations, depending on the situation.
Tip: SC resolutions are often more direct and have a significant impact on global relations. Stay informed on any crises being discussed in the SC.
