Map Tips
Welcome to the world of the distant shores! This dispatch is just to give you some guidance on the world of TDS before you fully apply to the map! First, all nations are given a substantial amount of control over the environment within their borders. While it is highly encouraged that you follow the general rule of the far north and south being colder, with the Equator (marked on the map) is the hottest, one has control over whether they have tall mountains, deep forests, or vibrant savanna’s covering their territory (within reason of course). If you’re still indecisive, you can think of the areas near the coasts to be lower in altitude, while the inland regions of the continents are higher. In addition, it is advised that you suit your climate to the species or culture that you despire for country. You likely won’t find mermaids in central Trionalis, and you won’t find a herd of centaurs on some small island (at least not without some thorough nationbuilding)! Lastly, try to be reasonable with the size of the areas that you claim. This map is roughly adjacent to half of the Earth, which means that it’s big. One does not need to own half a continent to have a “good” nation, and powerplaying just for land is highly discouraged. Be thoughtful with how much land would fit your country, and try to balance it out with other aspects of your nation; if you decide to take too much, your map claim might be cut down.
